Happy Anniversary to Ann & Paul!
LCBride2007 replied to starchild's topic in CONGRATS & Shout outs!!
It is tomorrow (the 8th), but I think it was a year ago that I met you, Jamy! Thank you for remembering! We are dressing Gwen tomorrow in the onesie you got her - Paul brought it from home especially for this special occasion! Happy belated anniversary to you too! I've been a bad BDW "friend" to everyone on here - so I am sorry if I missed your anniversary or birthday, or other special occasion! Quote: Originally Posted by TammyB Congrats chic. I can't believe I haven't seen these yet! I saw you online and I was patiently waiting for a review and pics. Off to look at them now ... -
Huh ... here is mine! You lucked out the the skills to succeed in almost any arena. Put you in almost any business or classroom, and you'll rise to the top. You're driven and intense, but you also know when to kick back and cooperate. Your ability to adapt to almost any situation is part of what's going to make you a success. Your strength: Your attention to detail Your weakness: You can be a little too proud of your successes Your power color: Turquoise Your power symbol: Arrow pointing up Your power month: August

Did I miss something...were you able to go shopping or did Paul bring them? I know - they're like blonde/red highlights, it's crazy! It's a combination ... Paul and I did buy a couple outfits, but not much. My mom brought some, some we had from gifts since we've been in CA, Paul's sister brought some yesterday (she just came to CA for a wedding she's in this weekend and stopped by to see Gwen), a friend sent some back w/Paul when he went home last weekend, etc. So we really haven't bought too much, but she's a well dressed girl!

I probably already have your address, but just in case, PM it to me.

Well, I'm off to another feeding (I really feel like a milk factory!), but here's the short version ... I was changing Gwen's diaper - she was still under the blue lights for jaundice. Because she still had the light on, so I was changing her through the 2 holes in the side of the enclosed bed. Also the blue light makes pee appear orange, and poo look blood red (scarey at first!). So I had the old diaper off, new diaper under her bum, and I was lifting her legs up wiping her bottom (she had pooed a little in her diaper). Well, all of the sudden this loud fart noise comes out of my little less-than-5lb baby girl, and poo shoots all over the place. Like we needed to change her bedding, wipe off the entire enclosure, I had to wipe off my hands and arm, and pretty much everything else in sight. Had the bed cover been open, who knows how far the poo would have gone. CRAZY! And keep in mind I had just asked why the poo in her diaper looked red - I was a bit nervous. Not seconds after the nurse explained it was just the blue light - out came a seemingly blood red mess of poo. Thank goodness I had just cleared that up, or I may have screamed! Instead, I could not stop laughing. She's done this a few times now, so everyone knows not to stand within "firing range" of her, especially if she has any sign of poo when we change her. It's like she gives us a warning in her diaper - then saves the rest for when we lift up her bum so she can gain maximum distance!

Thanks for all of the positive thoughts, girls! She actually doesn't even have her nasal canula (sp?) anymore today - that's the one where she was getting oxygen. So she's doing a little better! She's up to 5lbs 4oz, but lost about 10 grams the other day. We need to pork her up some! She almost cried today ... but it was after she farted super loud, so I think it scared her. How funny is that? She farts soooo loud - like any grown man would be proud of them. It's insane! I can't help but laugh hysterically when she does it - all of the nurses look over, like "Paul, how rude!" But she has a reputation now - no one will stand at the bottom of her bed when changing her ... did I ever share the explosive poo story?

Update So Gwen started out so well, that she had us all fooled into thinking she was the perfect little preemie, in that she was acting more like a full term baby. Well, she's now "acting her age." Over the last few days she's been having more "de-sats" where her blood oxegenation levels drop just a little below where the doctors like to see them. Basically, this just means that she's not taking deep enough breaths, or she's pausing here and there. It's usually around feeding time, and she always jumps right back up on her own - but it still scares Paul and I do death when the monitor dings. We're conditioned to hate those dings now! The nurses and docs reassure us that it's likely nothing to worry about. But because she wasn't doing this before, they've taken some blood and urine to do an analysis. They wanted to rule out an infection. So far all of her labwork has come back negative. Poor little girl had to have blood drawn and a catheter (sp?) put in to collect urine - and she didn't even cry! She's a tough little girl I guess. The doctors say they expect to see this behavior right away from a baby her age, but since she took a week or so to get there, they were doing some extra tests. But really, in all liklihood she just is getting over tired and that's why the drop in her sat. levels. This is also why she's got the nose tube (nasal canula - sp?) back. It's primarily room air being blown into her nose, but it's just to stimulate her and remind her to breathe in. My poor baby!
