Good point - if I had Marty to go home to, I might figure out a way to like exercise! Funny - we're getting married so close together too (June 8 vs June 5) - strange! And Paul and I have talked about getting into tennis (you're reading my mind!) - we'd both rather play a sport than exercise. Maybe we'll do that next week - good suggestion.

so were you already thinking of getting a new car, and just ran into this? how perfect! or did this inspire you?

When I moved to Chicago about a year ago I ended my membership in MN (obviously), but never got a new one in Chicago. And since I travel so much for work (every week) I find it hard to get to a gym in Chicago. I am thinking of signing up to see a personal trainer here where I work (in NC), and at least go 2 times per week. Then if I can just at least go for a walk a few times a week, that should be ok! Right? lol I just hate running (or at least have it in my head that I hate running), but for some reason I like going for walks. I even just bought an iPod hoping that would make me want to go more - I can just bop around to my music. I loaded it with all sorts of goofy stuff, I just love cheesy 80s music!

I wish I reacted to stress by wanting to work out, but I just like to lie on the couch! That's my biggest hurdle - self motivation. I have a hard time working out just for the sake of working out (running, bike, etc.). I just don't like gyms! I could play soccer, volleyball, etc. for hours every day - but just working out makes me cringe! I also don't mind doing group exercise classes (step aerobics, etc.). But I need to get over that if I want to get in shape. Tammy - I am like you, I wouldn't mind losing about 5-10 lbs, but I really want to tone up, especially since it's not only my wedding, but it's on the beach - which means a lot of bikini time! I do have extra motivation too - I am in my best friends wedding a month before mine, so I have a little extra push to step it up a bit! Too bad that push doesn't seem to be enough right now ... grrrrrrrr

My fiance and I wanted the same thing, we wanted a private beach. I am getting married at Las Caletas, it's about 45 min. south of Puerto Vallarta (where we'll be staying). You take a boat from the marina (picture a "booze cruise" type of boat), have your ceremony and reception on a PRIVATE beach/cove area. Then the boat takes you back to Puerto Vallarta. Here is the website - Puerto Vallarta Wedding Planner for Mexico Destination Weddings They have 2 packages, intimate and deluxe, we're doing the deluxe - I think that's the only way you guarentee it's a private event. They provide drinks, dinner, a bonfire, etc. - and they really seem to cater to what you want to do. Nicole, the wedding coordinator there, has been GREAT so far. Just an idea!

While I don't know this first hand like Tammy does - this is the reason I ended up not getting the dress made. I was afraid it just wouldn't live up to the "real" dress. I personally didn't care about the label on the dress - but I did feel the quality of the fabrics were very high, and this was also a reason for the higher price (not just the label). Just something to think about ...

Welcome! As the girls have already said, you have so many options - which is great, but also makes the decision tough. But you do have some time - so don't stress. Are you looking for a resort wedding, or something away from the resorts? How many people will be attending, any idea? I am getting married in Puerto Vallarta in June 2007, and just started planning a month or so ago. The ceremony will be at Las Caletas which is a private beach/cove area about 45 min south of PV, we will take a boat to the beach, have the ceremony and reception, then take the boat back. There are a lot of Mexico brides on this site, and also some getting married in DR, Jamaica, Hawaii ... so ask away, and someone should be able to help!

Since I've already forked out the cash for mine - I wanted to try to save someone some $$! We should have a place on this site to buy/sell dresses too ... you never know, there might be a bride looking to buy the dress you'd like to sell! And for some reason I keep checking some of these sites for my dress. Why? Not sure, I've already paid the full price!

I would have loved to be able to wear my mother's dress. But 1) she and my father are divorced, so it doesn't quite have the sentimental appeal that it normally would, and 2) it was a long sleeve, knee-length dress ... not what I was looking for! Her wedding was just at her parents cabin on the lake (hmmm ... I see a trend!)

Meahgan's Wedding & Dreams Resort Review
LCBride2007 replied to MEAHGAN's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Great review. That sucks that Dreams wasn't very accomodating - I don't get why people work in the service industry and then act like that! I am getting married in PV, so can't use your Mariachi band - but wanted to ask a general question about them. I am thinking of having one for cocktail hour at my wedding - but FI isn't sure it's worth the money. Did people like them, or was it just background music? I just think it would be a nice way to incorporate the Mexican theme into the wedding. -
I can only imagine. I was just thinking the same thing - how easy it would be to start screaming at her, or just ignoring her, etc. But the "right" thing to do is NOT to stoop to her level - that will just make things worse. Eventually, when this all blows over and you all get along again, at least you won't have said anything you regret. You won't have to be embarassed by how you acted. As for having her in your wedding - hopefully this all does blow over and you can have a healthy relationship with her. I know it seems awful now, but maybe this is just a rough time for everyone, and this is how it's coming out. I don't want to make excuses for her, but I always hope for the best in people! Sometimes they surprise you - in good ways! In the meantime, just keep your head high, and hopefully Cain can talk to her soon.
-
Seriously - she wants to act like a 5-year old, treat her like one!
-
I would hate to see you let her affect your holidays like that! Maybe Marty can use a little Christmas Spirit in the house - maybe it will give her a chance to see that she needs to embrace her new family ... including YOU! If she really is a lonely woman, and that's part of the reason she's acting like this, maybe she'll see that her behavior is totally unnecessary.

Las Caletas Wedding?
LCBride2007 replied to LCBride2007's topic in Puerto Vallarta Accommodations & Site
In retrospect, that probably would have been a great idea! We're actually going to Hawaii. And I really don't have a choice in the matter - FI has always wanted to honeymoon in Hawaii. Neither of us have ever been there, and FI wouldn't ever go before because he always wanted the first time in Hawaii to be on his honeymoon! So - that's where we're headed. And really - I can't complain. I mean, Mexico for a week, than Hawaii! WOOHOO! -
Well, I WAS leaning towards Elizabeth Medina (Mexico Wedding Photographer, Elizabeth Medina, destination wedding photography, Merida, Yucatan, Mexico) - mainly because I liked her stuff and she was available! But then I was getting a lot of so-so reviews on The Knot. And not about her, no one had used her, but about her prices. Photography isn't one place I want to cut corners, but if I can get great quality for cheap, I'm all for that! So Andrew isn't available, but he gave me his brother's information (how cute is that!?). I haven't heard back from the brother yet, but he is Jay Reilly - Jay Reilly Photography I also hear some good things on The Knot about these: The Art Of Light Photography Mandy Marie Photographer So many choices!
-
it really sounds like you're the only mature adult in the house right now! i can't believe a grown woman is acting like that - and especially when you've been so nice to let her live there. i hope once she sees cain isn't going to put up with her b.s. either, she'll see what she's been doing, apologize, and grow up!
-
Congratulations, they're stunning! I cna't wait to see the professional ones.
-
Hi ladies - I am still on the photographer hunt. A knottie suggested Andrew Reilly - has anyone used or heard of him? I haven't heard back from him yet about availability or pricing, but I will post more when I get the info. In the meantime, is anyone familiar with him and his work? Andrew Reilly Photography

Welcome! I know how you feel, I do think this site has helped keep me sane while planning my destination wedding. I am getting married in Puerto Vallarta, but there are sooo many halpful girls on this site getting married in both Cabo (tons of brides!), and also RM. You're definitely in the right spot. I just started my planning not too long ago - and I am getting married in June 2007. So you definitely have plenty of time - but there are many brides on here getting married in 2008, but I don't know if they're gone so far as to book anything yet. I'm sure they'll help you! Feel free to ask any questions you have!
