  1. Sounds like you're in the same boat I was - I really stressed about how to pick a location. But with the help of the girls on this forum, and just general research - we chose one (Las Caletas/Puerto Vallarta). Once you choose a site, it's likely there will be a WC that "comes with" the wedding, so you may not even need to hire an additional person - I'm not, and many girls aren't. There are probably many girls that had a positive experience with dw.com - but I just was looking for something different. I wanted help picking the perfect location for US, ya know. I never felt like she was researching for me or helping me narrow down choices based on what my FI and I were looking for - she just didn't seem to have that knowledge. My that's my humble opinion!
  2. i tried dw.com and they're NOT wedding planners - they're just travel agents, and not very good ones at that. i am still trying to get my $50 back. it's not like i had a bad experience with them, i just think they oversell what they have to offer. i thought they'd help me pick a place based on what i wanted, but nope - they just kept sending me prices for places I had mentioned. i was hoping they'd HELP me plan, not just send me quote after quote.
  3. I do too - I just don't know if I wnat to try to travel with it. It would be great for an AHR though - or a careful packer!
  4. In all honesty, I think it will be a little tough to do for just $5000 - but it depends on what you're including in that budget (travel, dress, rings, etc.). Other than my mother's, I don't plan on paying for anything for my guests, but I will pay for her travel. I plan on having a welcome dinner the night before the wedding at my cost, of course, but no other planned events, and I don't have a bridal party so I won't be paying for any of that either. I have no idea what it will all cost - I am terrible at setting budgets - but we're already well over $5000 and I haven't even thought about the details like decor, flowers, cake, etc. Here are a couple threads that can help you determine what we're all spending on our DWs. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t933 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t1495
  5. similarily, if you want to quote multiple messages (MQ = Multi-Quote), just click "MQ" on all the ones you want to quote, except on the last one click the Quote button. all of them will appear in your message to respond to. hope that makes sense.
  6. ditto! i am the same way - i like routines, but varied routines!
  7. maybe not too practical for a DW - but this is a cute idea too - Wedding Signature Platters - Unique hand painted guest books
  8. good to hear! i need to mix it in with my cindy video - it's already getting a little repeatitive. i clearly have a short attention span.
  9. welcome, danielle! you'll get lots of help here, but this forum is a little busier during the week. i'd also start digging around on this forum, there's a lot of good info already posted that may help as well. i noticed you're you're looking for a photographer - here is a thread that lists some that i had researched. many of us are flying in a photographer from the US or somewhere else in Mexico just to get what we want. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t2177
  10. i haven't got my windsor tapes yet - so i haven't started. but i used to take pilates classes, and yoga, at the gym i belonged to. i loved it! i felt like i had a really strong core - hopefully i get the same feeling from the tapes.
  11. i was going to use her, but then took too long to book her, and then she was no longer available. congrats - she's great! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t1743
  12. but do you think everyone will be able to make it? we're inviting 120 or so and hope for about 70
  13. I don't know the age - but let me send Nicole (the WC for Las Caletas) an email - she usually responds in 1-3 days. I do know, at least for wedding on non-Sunday days, the kids are cheaper per person. I will let you know what Nicole says ...
  14. Amy is correct - I ended up staying at Dreams. We wanted an all-inclusive resort, and one that was great for families and wasn't too expensive - Dreams fit the bill!
  15. I know - that bride put A LOT of effort and research into her site! also, here is Marisa's website - she's getting married at Las Caletas tomorrow (1/27) - she has some hotel suggestions too. Marisa & Eric's Wedding Website - WedQuarters

  18. i will say - the hardest part is deciding on the location and the resort or wedding site. there are brides from all over here who can help (Mexico, Jamaica, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Napa, Arizona, etc.) - let us know what you're thinking and we'll help narrow it down. here's a starter ... FI - fiance DH = dear hubby or dick head (your pick!) STD = Save the Date OOT = Out of Town DW = destination wedding WC = wedding coordinator i'm sure there's more ...
  19. i know - i get so attached to things like that. i remember crying when i was a kid, when my mom sold our mustard yellow volvo station wagon.
  20. woohoo - another Chicago gal! jackie will definitely be able to help with some RM suggestions - no worries, you came to the right place!
  21. welcome, shelley! don't worry - that's a similar frustration - i don't think you're alone. let us know how we can help!
