  2. I got these pictures and comments from a girl on the PV Brides Yahoo group. Yahoo! Photos - Puerto Vallarta - Boca Bento ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boca Bento Just an update -- Stewart & Monika, the owners of Boca Bento, are also available to do catering (for your wedding reception, welcome dinner, etc). We are having our rehearsal dinner at Boca Bento, and we have just decided to also have them cater our reception. The food at Boca Bento is great -- creative asian-latin fusion that is tasty and not gimmicky -- like another girl said earlier tonight. But in addition to the food on their menu, they can create pretty much anything you want -- French, American, European, Japanese, etc. They have many years of experience in the US in catering and running restaurants, as well as catering weddings, and one of their last weddings in the US was Christy Turlington's wedding. Anyway, Stewart sent me a proposal with tons of options a week or so ago, and I was very happy with the wide selection and the prices as well. I am very confident that they'll do a great job and we'll have exquisite food. Just in case any of you are looking into caterers!
  3. I got these pictures and comments from a girl on the PV Brides Yahoo group and thought it was helpful in picturing what Dreams PV looked like, so I thought I'd share. There are too many pictures for me to upload, so hopeuflly this link works. And here are the comments she provided, they go along with some of the pictures in this album. Yahoo! Photos - Dreams Puerto Vallarta ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oceana Here are a few pictures of Oceana restaurant. To give some context, Dreams is set up on a private beach. The beach is long and straight facing the water (not a cove opening to a bay-like area). On one end there is 1 restaurant, which I forgot the name of. At the end that is closest to town, is Oceana Restaurant. The picture with the blue background in it is actually of one of the walls at Oceana -- it is a design on the walls. The restaurant is definitely done in blues. The chairs are not normally set up there though -- it was morning and the restaurant was closed and not set up for dinner yet. Lobby Bar Right off of the front lobby at Dreams there is a great bar/lounge area. It has some tables and chairs, and is partially covered -- the bar itself and part of the bar area is under a roof, but it is then open so that the rest of the bar area is in the open air. We thought it would be perfect for a welcome reception, but they told us that it cannot be reserved for private events or groups. So you can tell your friends/family/ guests to all meet there at a certain time for drinks, but you can't exclude other Dreams' guests from being there. I didn't ask about how much it would cost to reserve it though -- at first the Dreams people said that nothing could be reserved for a private party, but then after asking and offering to pay extra for reserving a restaurant, they said Oceana can be reserved for your private event for an extra $2,700. So they might accept a fee to reserve the front bar too, who knows. It looked like an ideal spot for about 30-50 people. Gazebo View from Upper Pool This picture is really poor, and I apologize because many of you have been asking about the pool area that Dreams has said is available for your welcome dinner/reception, etc. But its all I have unfortunately. I call it the "upper pool" area because its a little bit away from the main pool, and up a few stairs. It's not much higher than the main pool, but its a little past it and it definitely would feel seperate from the main pool and other public areas if it was set up for your dinner/reception. In the picture you can see that there is a small gazebo in the distance. It's right next to the upper pool and that upper pool deck area. People do get married at the gazebo, but the area is pretty small -- it could probably only fit about 10-12 guests. I thought it may be an option for where to place the bar if you had a dinner/reception nearby, like at the upper pool area. But it is pretty small, so that might not be possible. In the picture you can't see the area around the upper pool, but there is a lot of space around the upper pool to set up tables, etc. I really don't know how many people could fit in that area, seated for dinner, but I'd guess maybe 100?
  4. Welcome! I am sorry I can't help w/the wedding planning, but I am interested to hear what you find out since I will be honeymooning in Hawaii -and we're not sure yet where we're going. Also, I see you're from MN - I am born and raised in the northwestern 'burbs on Minneapolis - where are you from? I live in Chicago now, for the past 1.5 years, but FI and I are moving back to Minneapolis in April.

You may also be able to contact the couple somehow from their wedding site.

  15. Another from my dad ... --------------------------------------------------------- Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Now Men.... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the shit out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with. ---------------------------------------------------------
  16. FYI - I wanted to move this under the Destination Wedding Vendors so people could find Elizabeth easier!

Now I've narrowed it down and will bring my mom & sister to check them out. I wanted to stay under $1000 too, and I thought I was going to be able to do it too, until the last time I went and my two favorite dresses were $1000 & $1500. FI says don't worry about what it costs, but I feel guilty spending that much money on a dress that I'm going to where for a few hours. That's how I preferred to do it too - narrow it down by myself, then bring in the reinforcements. That way you KNOW the one you end up with will be because YOU like it, not someone else's choice. Oh, and as for justifying the cost, you could always wear the dress at breakfast or something like Natasha does! lol - I just LOVE that she does that!
  18. Welcome, Elizabeth! I exchanged many emails with you - and almost booked you to shoot my wedding in Puerto Vallarta (at Las Caletas), but I waited too long, and then someone else booked you! I ended up going with Leigh Miller (http://www.leighmillerphotography.com/), who is also a member of this forum, and I am soooo excited for my wedding (and the pictures!). Glad to have you!
