  1. ahhhh - where are they? are they on the blog? are you just teasing us? lol
  2. wow - those came out GREAT! i love them - not sure i'd change anything! and i love the look of the brads - it just adds a nice finished touch. i might actually fine tune mine based on some of the details you have in your invites! as for the ribbon - i think it looks great. the only thing i'd try is maybe folding the edge of the ribbon so it looks more "finished" but not sure you really need to do that, or if it would look any better. awesome job!
  3. i keep telling paul that i am now going to start a invite making business. the only problem is that ALL invites will look like this. that's the creative piece i am missing, i can't come up with the idea, but i am pretty good at recreating an idea i see!
  4. Thanks ladies - you're starting to make me think I can pull this off! I will put a more detailed "how to" together, but to answer a few questions ... - I just used work and clip art to make these, i did print out a lot on "scratch" paper before moving to the invite paper, just to make sure things lined up - i bought the paper first, i knew we wanted the ivory, blue, and brown. then i kept adjusting the text color in word until i matched the blue paper - i had requested a sample invite from Papel Vivo - they have some great stuff - and we were all ready to get them made, and it would have been over $500 - but then i decided i could just copy them. i literally copied most everything about the invite. the main differences are, well, color (they had coral), and then they had the actual invite on an insert rather than printed onto the main folded part of the invite. i just decided to print directly on there, it uses less paper! and then i did a 2-sided RSVP card, one for the wedding and one for the WD. oh, their invite had clean cut edges, but i went with the more "natural" ripped look - it's easier and also hides boo-boos! - things i had to buy: ivory paper, blue paper, brown paper, a cutting mat (so when i cut w/a razor it doesn't cut the table), i bought my envelopes - i bought 5x7 for the invite and 4x6 for the RSVP - i just didn't want to make these (bought at Paper Source), glue, blade to cut the straight edge. - to get the ripped edge, i just have been holding down a yard stick and ripping the paper - nothing fancy!
  5. I don't really - but I know when I was shopping for the paper to make my invitations I was at a local craft store called Pearls Art Supplies or something. They had everything - and everyone was so helpful, and I am fairly certain I saw wood engaving supplies there. It's worth checking out.
  6. by the way, Marla, I am the girl you were chatting with on TripAdvisor - so just let me know if you still have some questions about Las Caletas - or if you've found all of your answers here!
  7. I'ts hard to see exactly what that one looks like, but I bet you can find something similar! I just tried googling and came up with some of these sites - it looks like eBay may be a good place to hunt! Costume Jewelry Choker Necklace,Pearl Bridal Chokers,Victorian Chokers eBay.co.uk: White Austrian Crystal Choker Necklace Earrings a2640 (item 260091111623 end time 05-Mar-07 18:00:00 GMT) eBay.co.uk: Victorian Light Multi Crystal Choker Necklace Earrings (item 320087015966 end time 05-Mar-07 19:24:01 GMT)
  8. you can also buy an engraver yourself - i don't know how expensive they are, but i think you can get them for pretty reasonable. and maybe check into getting them engraved - it might not be that much $$! maybe check your local craft store or craig's list to find a local craftsman.
  9. Thanks, ladies! I have to admit I was pretty impressed when they came out as good as they did. Any I've really only done 1 or 2 becuase I have to finalize all of the details, like the WD time, before I can send them out. I wasn't sure about the 3 random designs on the main invite either - I was copying the "professional" one. I may take one out, or just rearrange them so they're not all clustered together like that as well. Thanks for all of the feedback - keep it comin'! Question: How long before your wedding date did you say your guests had to respond by?
  10. lol - are you saying my pictures aren't good enough to include in the final wedding album? will do!
  11. I did specify "and guest" on the STD since the point is for people to plan their travel - they'd want to know if they can plan for a guest as well. just me though!
  12. I did do them all on my own - I've learned a lot about paper; who knew it was so dang complicated. I got some samples in the mail, and just decided I could try making them on my own. Here was the inspiration - Handmade Paper and Letterpress Wedding Invitations: a171-Maui Wedding
  13. AHHH - teaser pictures! Those look great - everything turned out beautifully! the color of your BM's dresses is fabulous - i love the aqua color! I can't wait to hear the full review - but I am so behind on posts, maybe you already posted something. What is the bridal suite like? Did you go over to Las Caletas in the morning, and if so what did you do all day?
  14. Let's try this instead ... Wedding Invitation Welcome Dinner Invitation RSVP for ceremony (on one side) RSVP for Welcome Dinner (on the other side)
  15. Ok, those aren't the best pictures. I can take better ones so you can see the detail ... stay tuned.
  16. Ok, I've been stressing a little over what to do for invites - we didn't want to break the bank, but did want something nice. Let me know what you think! Any and all feedback is welcome. They're not the greatest pictures - but hopefully give you a good enough idea.
