Thanks ladies - you're starting to make me think I can pull this off! I will put a more detailed "how to" together, but to answer a few questions ...
- I just used work and clip art to make these, i did print out a lot on "scratch" paper before moving to the invite paper, just to make sure things lined up
- i bought the paper first, i knew we wanted the ivory, blue, and brown. then i kept adjusting the text color in word until i matched the blue paper
- i had requested a sample invite from Papel Vivo - they have some great stuff - and we were all ready to get them made, and it would have been over $500 - but then i decided i could just copy them. i literally copied most everything about the invite. the main differences are, well, color (they had coral), and then they had the actual invite on an insert rather than printed onto the main folded part of the invite. i just decided to print directly on there, it uses less paper! and then i did a 2-sided RSVP card, one for the wedding and one for the WD. oh, their invite had clean cut edges, but i went with the more "natural" ripped look - it's easier and also hides boo-boos!
- things i had to buy: ivory paper, blue paper, brown paper, a cutting mat (so when i cut w/a razor it doesn't cut the table), i bought my envelopes - i bought 5x7 for the invite and 4x6 for the RSVP - i just didn't want to make these (bought at Paper Source), glue, blade to cut the straight edge.
- to get the ripped edge, i just have been holding down a yard stick and ripping the paper - nothing fancy!
