Oh, and I was a frequent visitor of Surdyks, especially when my best friend lived right in the heart of NE!

  3. i bought mine (but didn't wear them!) at some random little store down the street from me. i know, that SO doesn't help you. lol
  4. i'd be cranky at 6am too! lol but they look great - and i am sure he loves the result. thanks for sharing.
  5. well that's a good question you pose. i didn't have any ceremonies that required a table, no unity candle, etc. i did set my flowers on it when we did the rings and the hand blessing, but i could have just as easlily handed them to my mom. i actually just went back to my pics to see what else was on the table. i guess the minister used it to set his stuff on, and there were flowers on it.
  6. if you wnat to post your details on here (date, place, what you want it to read, colors, etc.) you will get a few people working for you and have lots of options!
  7. if you can't/don't want to take my earlier suggestion (and others, to take new wife with you on the boat early, and give FMIL an "important" job) you could enlist the help of Brad, the minister, he seems like a good guy and big enough to break up a cat-fight!

You just told Nicole you wanted one and she got it for you? Can you send me a picture of that please? I showed her pictures of a few chuppas we liked, and she made something similar - i don't have any idea what teh hanging beads were - they were probably plastic. I also thought that the chuppa was an extra charge. I think the basic one was what Lindsay had with the palm fronds. Hmm...something to ask Nicole. I do think what lindsay had was what you'd have if you didn't request anything different. I think the chuppa upcharge may have been built into another fee? i didn't even know there was one, to be honest. How did you know how many centerpieces to order? i didn't specify any number to Nicole at all - she must have just based the # on how many tables, and where she thought they needed to be placed. Do the prices vary depending on the types of flowers used? I am so NOT a flower person. I mean I like them but I just don't know my types!! Does Nicole have choices she showed to you? I just sent Nicole a few pics of bouquets and centerpieces i liked, and she took it from there - i didn't specify types of flowers. i am sure prices would vary - but i think i also told her at some point that if it was A LOT more, to let me know. i really did just put everything in her hands. i don't even know what kind of flowers i had! You can see what I sent Nicole in the attached document - both for chuppa and centerpieces. And below are pictures of my chuppa. Also, as far as the table set up, who decides on this? like the day before we left, we worked with nicole on a seating chart. you don't have to have one, but if you want one you can let her know. the setup depends on how many people you have (we had about 55). Is there an option to have one big long table or individual tables? I think I've seen both ways. I figured the individual tables were for larger parties but you had 55 people with one long table so maybe it's just preference. I didn't have 1 large table - but I would have loved to! It just didn't work with our group. I've attached a copy of our seating chart as well. Thanks again!! Quote: Originally Posted by MarlaB Just thought of something else Ann. I like that idea. they are rose petals - i did ask nicole to get me those, and she placed them in baskets at the end of each aisle. you can see my mom holding a basket here ... Also, ladies, I need honest opinions: Would it look tacky to buy fake flower petals from a craft store to spread about the table? They're obviously cheaper than the fresh ones but maybe I shouldn't skimp on this. i don't think these petals are that expensive - lindsay, was it $25/bag? also, not sure if they'd like fake, just because they'd have to clean them up and make sure none were left since those wouldn't be great for the environment. but i have no idea, i could be way off. Thanks I tried to get everything - let me know if you have more questions, Marla! Wedding Stuff - Decor.doc seating chart.ppt
  9. damn - your wedding looks like it was soooo much fun! and your photog captured some priceless facial expressions - tears, laughing, and some puzzled looks too (i want to know what that person making the speach was saying!). all your hard work and DIY projects really paid off, Christine - beautiful wedding. and i've got to say - i love the color of the BM dresses for a wine country wedding.

  13. eek. that was going to be my first suggestion was to have one of them come over early with you to hang out and get ready. can you still have the new wife come over early? tell FMIL that you really need her to hang back and make sure all goes well on that make - make it seem like you really need her there, becuase you don't trust anyone else or something.
  14. you callin' getting half naked pics taken for your man traditional? lol i'm not a gift giver in general - i mean, i love giving gifts when the mood strikes me, like i see something i totally want to get someone, but not when i "have" to (birthdays, holidays, etc.).
  15. speaking of no electricity - i just had to share this amazing pic Leigh got of Caletas ... i'll give up my blended drinks for this !
  16. i wore a BM dress a couple months ago and the seamstress suggested toupee tape to hold it in place. you have to be comfortable in your dress - so do what you need to do. but don't starve yourself!
  17. i didn't even think to buy these kinds of items. it would be just one more thing to carry! if it's something you really want to buy - i'm sure you can find something out there, like you said, there are sooo many options!

  19. ya know - i have no idea! i know when we had lunch, one of the girls asked for a blended drink and they said they didn't have any blenders. so not sure if they could do that. maybe they make everything over flame - not sure!

  21. is there a waistline at all? anywhere? what they'd probably have to do it bring it up there rather than actually shorten it at the bottom. but if it needs to be shortened a lot, it might throw of the line of the dress.
  22. i guess so - but since i didn't drink anything all night, i don't really know! but the bar is up those stairs. as the bride, i am sure you won't be hoofing it anywhere!
  23. i know - it is hard, so ask as many questions as you need to! yup - the dinner, bar, swings, buffet, everything was in that pink building. then the ceremony, dance, fire, etc. was all right below it
