  1. i ended up kicking mine off and going barefoot, but lots of girls also go with wedge shoes. i am going to move this into an area of the forum where you should be able to find more threads on shoes too!
  2. if it helps you relax about it at all, i breastfed my premie girl for about 14-15 months (pitocin was used during my labor) and then am still breastfeeding my 13 month old son who was born a little premature via c-section.
  3. D'oh! My bad, I do see it in your profile, Casey, I just didn't think to go there. Oh, P.S., the "pregnancy brain" just turns into "mommy brain" so it doesn't get any better. Sorry! lol
  4. There were a small handful of boy names I liked, but much fewer than girls, that's for sure. And we were a little limited, which probably helped - we knew that Sean or John had to be a part of the name for my FIL. I still like Kellan for a boy but its becoming more and more popular, as is Brayden, but we still used that as Sean's middle name.
  5. honestly, Paul was that way too with us. i mean it's just not as real for them until the baby comes. some guys get into it more during the pregnancy but it's so common for them to struggle more during the pregnancy. i mean, we're living in 24/7 and they're just, well, not. but i can play the name game all day - for me it was one of the only fun parts of being pregnant! lol
  6. I swear I posted my pregnancy stories but I don't see them on here. I, too, was easy to get prego (and was worried since I had been on the pill for 13+ years!). It turns out I got prego really easy but then had complicated pregnancies. Well, I was high risk because of my diabetes and then had my 1st baby 8 weeks early. Then I lost 2 pregnancies (one right away and the second at about 11 weeks) and then was high risk w/my son for a zillion reasons (diabetes, age, pre-term delivery, etc.). I can share all of the detail if anyone would find it helpful or interesting! lol But I now have 2 healthy kids, and we're done! So as much as I don't want to get prego again ... I still love hearing about other women/couple going through the process. P.S. Did I miss it earlier, or what is your name, meBonidie2Be?

  8. Have you looked at the reviews for this venue? I bet someone has posted pictures! I'd also suggest doing a search in the appropriate sub-forum as I bet many people have posted pictures there too.
  9. Dang it, i had one today i meant to bring up here but i forgot it. Im always scanning the preschool name lists to see what the names are, lost of interesting ones! i'll keep my eyes open!
  10. welcome, Shanna! good ... we need some non-Chicago brides here to represent! though i will always consider myself from MN
  11. hi, colleen! do any of you have any suggestions for discussion topics - maybe AHR locations, meet up discussions, or anything local to the midwest area? i'd probably start one for the Chicagoland area, Minneapolis, etc. Let me know! You can respond here or send me a PM.
  12. can you ask that any gifts be shipped to your home address. typically registries have addresses on them that you can ship to. or maybe politely request (somehow?) that people get you cash or gift cards?
  13. I didn't get married in the DR, but we did have a bonfire. It was dang hot, let me tell you but it was still pretty cool! We also had fire dancers!
  14. I see you posted twice so I'll get rid of the other post so you don't have to keep up with 2 threads. I don't know the RM at all, but I'm sure some of these girls can help! Also, have you checked out all of the reviews on the different resorts here? That might be a good place to start.
  15. we were teh same! well, i wanted a boy but we hadn't decided on a name until a couple days after he was born! we had the girl name all set.
  16. no one your kids age will know the cosby show, so there's that theory out the window! i don't think xavier is weird at all, in fact it's pretty popular right now. my vote is totally for Theo!
  17. Hi, Jennifer! I bet you have your hands full ... you'll be so ready for the vacation when it comes! Where in Chicago do you live? Erica, we totally were at the car shows the summer ... more just to hang out downtown w/the kids and go to dinner, but we were there!
  18. no way!? we just moved here in april so i don't know where south hs is, but i know it's, well, south! lol we're closer to north - just south of ogden by pierce-downers elementary. too funny, small world! i LOVE cruises! i think had i not got married where i did, i'd have loved to do a cruise. i can't wait to hear how it turns out!

  23. Hey all, I just started a Midwest Brides group ... come find us! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/groups/show/7/midwest-brides-and-brides-to-be-and-grooms-too-of-course
  24. So I suppose I'll start! I joined this forum in late 2006 (wow, that was a long time ago!) when I was planning my wedding. I was the first Puerto Vallarta bride on the forum and the first bride to get married (or even hear about!) Las Caletas ... hard to believe, right? We were had our wedding ceremony on June 8, 2007 on the private beach at Las Caletas, and then went on our honeymoon to Hawaii where we were legally married. I honestly don't know what I would have done without this forum ... and as you can tell by the fact that I'm still around, I still don't know what I'd do! While I'm not planning a wedding anymore, I have made some great friends here and hope to make even more. I was born and raised in the western suburbs of Minneapolis (Maple Grove, Plymouth), and recently moved to the western suburbs of Chicago (Downers Grove) to be closer to my husband's family so I've always lived in the Midwest. I'm not a fan of winters AT ALL, but yet I still live here! I have 2 kids and have been a SAHM since my first was born in 2008. Can't wait to get to know you all!
