ABSOLUTELY!!! granted, i haven't had a job w/PTO for a decade, lol. but i know you can negotiate this just like you can negotiate any other benefit like pay or health benefits. often times when companies have a scrict salary range, they will negotiate here instead.
  2. there's definitely something to be said for pure sanity. i know you can't quantify it in $$ or time off or anything - but it's worth SOOOO much! I know how unhappy you've been at your current job, with a B*TCH of a boss, so I am so happy for you! The time off does sound rough - but you'll make it work, and that's great about letting you take the time for the wedding, even if it is unpaid. CONGRATS!
  3. I did a search for Peter Hatton and found a few hits - I'd start there! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...earchid=759144

Just wondering if I like it enough to collect it? And if I'll be doing it because of tradition rather than actually wanting it? Hmmmm.... since you don't seem like you'd use it much now, and you will be getting grandma and mom's in the future - maybe you don't need to spend the money on that stuff now. just my opinion! mine just takes up space - and i've had it for almost 10 years!
  5. I have some from my first wedding (in 199 - so we didn't register for any. And I've used the stuff ONCE! Only because I am just not an entertainer - or when I do, it's BBQ type style. But here's what I hate - if you do like the stuff, and think you'll want it eventually - you should get as much as you can now (as much as you want, rather). Since styles often get discontinued, it's harder to add on later.
  6. i HATED the idea of a shower too. HATED it. my friends honored my request - we just went out for a group dinner instead. but Paul's mom insisted - and to be honest, i wasn't very firm telling her i didn't want one. so i had to open gifts from people i didn't know - and then try to pretend to find them in the room to thank them. it was awful. the nice thing is i made Paul sit next to me and open them with me and help me thank everyone. i didn't like it - but i got through it. would a couples shower make it easier for you? i'm all for the spa or wine tasting weekend though ... that sounds more my style!
  7. I just used the one the bridal shop gave me, it was thin - but it worked.
  8. I didn't have issues when planning my wedding there, but it was also a different coordinator at teh time. But I have heard of some people not getting emails from Mexico. I use a Yahoo account, and it seemed to work. Be sure to check your junk email folder.
  9. welcome to the forum! i wasn't married there, but i stayed at Dreams PV during my wedding week and LOVED it! let us know if we can help at all.
  10. Hey Kelly! Welcome to the forum! Glad to see another Minneapolis bride on here ... where do you live? I'm sure you'll find all the help you need on here - don't be afraid to ask questions! Your wedding is coming up fast!
  11. I plan on checking this out. I use all (and only!) online banking (and it's very safe, btw) and have accounts at a few institutions. It would be nice to see them all in one place, just for the sake of simplicity if nothing else!
  12. well, you'd have to enter your passwords so it can log you in and pull your balances. otherwise the site wouldn't be able to know that info! sounds pretty cool. FYI - I'm pretty sure that ".com" is any commercial website really, ".gov" is usually reserved for government sites and ".org" is usually for not-for-profit agencies - so you can't just sign up to use any of those extensions. there are many legit ".com" websites out there!
  13. ditto! Paul's mom got a little queasy on the way over (not sure if she got sick or not) but never complained at all. Nobody expressed concern to us - I think they were more focused on the fun, positive aspects of the evening. It just wasn't a huge deal to our group - or at least nobody made me aware of it!
  14. Hi, Joaquin, welcome to the forum! Just be sure to read these Vendor Rules if you haven't already: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t921

She doesn't even know we're prego yet. She's actually a friend of Paul's - but I really like her, so I am claiming her. lol She's so sweet - her hubby is a doctor, but she was with him through all of the med. school, residency, etc. and so she's just followed him around the country living where he needed to go. And she'd just work where she could find a decent job. Well she finally got to start her dream business!

I'll let you know how it goes! there are a ton of dresses - but at least they're arranged by sizes so you can eliminate some that way. and the sales ladies are super helpful! have fun!
  17. Hey all - A friend of mine started her own "paper" business (invites, STDs, announcements, etc.) and I just wanted to share it with all of you! I just think she has some great stuff. I had contacted her when we were getting our invites and STDs done, but she wasn't quite ready to take on any business yet - her and her hubby were moving to PA and they just had so much going on at the time. Bummer! Anyway - check it out - her name is Molly, and she's possibly the sweetest girl I know! Let her know I sent you! lol personalized stationery, invitations and gifts - Snapdragon Paperie
  18. my sis has 2 "troubled" dogs (both rescues) and she swears by the Dog Whisperer, at least I think that's what he calls himself. He has that TV show - I think his name is Cesear.

  20. we did have fans for everyone - they doubled as the place cards. and i do think a lot of people used them - at least the gals. but i can't be sure. but our wedding was also in June, so it was quite warm!
  21. wow. your dad (or anyone) has no right to tell you what you should do with your name. i can't believe how selfish HE is being! i'd honestly just tell him that you're sorry he feels that way, but this is your life, your name, and your decision. you hope that he comes around, but if not, he will be missed at the wedding. what a pain to have to deal with!
  22. awwww - what beautiful kids! and the adults aren't so bad themselves! (wink, wink)
  23. woohoo- can't wait to see pics of the handsome little devil!
