  1. Oh lordy, lordy, where to begin?! Well, first, welcome! Second ... my short answer is DO IT! It was the best choice my FI and I made!! It was everything we wanted, and more. My long answer ... well, you'll hear and read plenty of my comments on Caletas, I'm sure (if you haven't already!). You can check out some pics and my review - the links are in my siggy.
  2. try doing a search for "sand ceremony" - i know there are a lot of posts out there on this topic! (use Advanced Search)
  3. have you tried searching or browsing the approiate section of the forum? i know there have been lots of ideas posted!
  4. have you tried doing a search in all of the other hair threads? i know a lot of links have been posted in various threads. (btw - I moved this thread out of the Jamaica section to this section)
  5. oh absolutely - any gift is well appreciated! i just get a little shocked when people EXPECT the gift. ya know?
  6. i think they all do - for a fee. i know wedding window does. check out some of the examples in the document on the first post.

  8. so hard to see! but from what I can tell, i like the simplicity of #1
  9. TEASE! I can't wait to see - I'm sure it will be fabulous!

With that being said, after the wedding we were given $3K from Matt's mom and more tk with the baby (nice holdout!).. so that went into the bank but we didn't consider it towards the wedding since that was already paid for. Now that we're married it was "our" money that paid for the wedding but in reality it was my monthly bonus that paid as we went. It was a nice feeling that I was able to afford the decisions I made, but we came up with the budget together and I feel proud that we didn't overspend but we still had a beautiful wedding. good point - I was 33 when we got married, and this is my 2nd wedding. paul was 29. but i also didn't expect any $$ for my first wedding - and I was 24! lol granted, i've been very lucky/successful/blessed in my career and financially, but i still didn't expect any financial gifts - i think that's a pretty outdated custom - and my family is anything but traditional! lol
  11. i want to say we sent our STDs in December and then maybe April for the invites? just a couple weeks earlier than normal.
  12. we easily could have gone without the cake - not sure anyone really ate it. but paul wanted one - so we got one. i think it was more for the traditional cake cutting pics!
  13. see, i never even once considered the fact that anyone would help pay for anything - i mean, it's our wedding. we're the ones asking people to come to a different country to see us get married. don't get me wrong, everyone was super excited to come - but it did cost them some $$. so Paul and I paid for everything - but we never even thought about someone offering. i'm sure we would have happily taken it (duh! lol) but no one did. paul's parents did give us a generous ($5K) cash gift after the wedding, which was a surprise. i say just be grateful that you're getting the help, and don't hold a grudge! maybe they have no idea that you expect them to offer.

  15. paul and i were comparing pics - i think they did do some structural changes - both to the upper and lower part - right? that would be great if there's more room now.

  17. dang - those movie nachos are totally my movie treat when i go. i don't know much about the point system, but the fact that you had to save up to eat them must mean they're not so good! so glad you like the program - that's huge if you want to stay with it. seems like an intuitive program - i can add up points! i'll keep it in mind for when i need to lose the baby fat!

Didn't even notice the "Thank You" - I do think they should be in the same color and font. Man, where is Sarah (DIY Design Queen) when you need her?! The font I used everywhere way Papyrus - worked for me, and my stuff was pretty casual. (my siggy stuff that is in blue is papyrus font)
  19. I actually really like them - but I am curious what it would look like if your "Gracias" was in the yellow color of your flowers. it might not look good - but i'd need to see it!
  20. i have to admit - i miss the pink! i'm sure it wouldn't take anything away from my wedding - but some of my favorite pics are the ones with the guys by the pink wall. it was so festive, and added some unexpected color to the pics. (see below) oh well - Caletas is still fabulous!
  21. Argh - YES! Since I will be on site at the client - it definitely means less time on BDW. I know that I will be traveling this week and next, and possibly that third week. But I'll just have to get my fill on Fridays (I don't work Fridays) and weekends! So sad. Don't forget about me!
  22. Since I graduated from college back in 1996, I've been a consultant - and for my job I travel 100%. So except for a week or two here or there, I've been on the road for 11+ years. However, I've been working from home for the past 6+ months - it's been a big change, and for the most part a good change. Well, back on the road - at least for now. I've been so spoiled lately -- getting things done at home, waking up in my own bed, having a normal social life, seeing my husband enough to get knocked up (heehee), etc. At least this next project is in Phoenix, where my mom lives, so I will get to see her a little more. And it can't last too long - I've told them I won't travel once I get further along in this pregnancy! So I guess I'll start building back up my frequent flyer miles.
  23. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JACKIE! We do miss you around here - I hope you get your computer issues all taken care of soon. And wow, I remember when I joined and thought your wedding was soooo far away. It's coming up!
  24. awwww - that way little Elsie can ALWAYS be with you. i know what you mean about wanting to adopt your fosters. the organization i worked with hated when their foster parents adopted, because then they often wouldn't foster anymore, or at least not as much. you're helping Elsie so much - she's a lucky girl!
