  1. if that's what you want, of course it's ok. technically if the invite doesn't say "and family" or the kids' names then they (the parents) should know they're not invited. not everyone does though! perhaps someone on here has included wording in their invites to say something about how the wedding (and reception?) is adult only. i know there has been a lot of discussion on the topic!
  2. have you tried working with a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings? i think they can often get the rates a little sooner, or at least tell you what typically happens. and i'm not sure but perhaps if you locked in now you might be able to lock in at a certain rate. this forum has several travel agents that can help, and you can contact them here. http://www.wrighttravelagency.com/leads/inquiry/
  3. i also didn't have a wedding party. so there goes that! lol but for my first wedding, which was definitely more traditional (large wedding party, parents helped pay, etc.) we didn't do gifts either. i think we got them a framed print of the wedding pics (probably a family pic) afterwards but nothing at the wedding.
  4. honestly the small changes are easiest, and more realistic! maybe skip that daily latte, at least a couple times a week! no eating out more than once a week, or whatever you spend money on, just cut back a little. no need to stay locked up in your house but just a little here and there can add up. also, just put $50-100 in an account every month and there's your spending money for the honeymoon! P.S. I am moving this to a more appropriate sub-forum.
  5. well, we didn't get gifts for anyone. i guess i never considered doing that, and not because of who paid for what ... but i guess i don't understand why we'd buy our parents a gift for our wedding! lol i don't mean to be a smartass, but that's my honest thought!
  6. here you go ... http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/f/2029/buy-sell-trade-or-freebies#page=0&Filter%5Btype%5D%5B1%5D=true&Filter%5Btype%5D%5B2%5D=true&Filter%5Btype%5D%5B4%5D=true&Filter%5Btype%5D%5B5%5D=true&Filter%5Bstate%5D%5BOpen%5D=true&Filter%5Bstate%5D%5BSold%5D=false&Filter%5Border_by%5D=Classified.bump_at
  7. soooo exciting! also, please please PLEASE anyone that has been or will be married at Caletas, please post a review here. its so nice to have all of the LC reviews in one area. even if you were married a while ago and have already posted a review, please go back and add it to this section. thank you so much! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/las-caletas-adventure-weddings
  8. awesome! i can't wait to see the featured weddings ... and i plan on filling this out ... if i can remember the details! ha!
  9. Just wanted to post this article here ... we can all probably relate! http://pnmag.com/pregnancy-blogs/knocked-up/great-co-name-drum
  10. hi! i am going to send you to this thread that has a lot of links for various threads about wedding attire, including shoes!
  11. we were married June 8 - take a look at my pics if you'd like! if the link doesn't work, let me know. we got lots of pictures!
  12. have you tried doing a little digging around? i know there are lots of DJs being used in PV ... I'll post here again if I come across any, but in the meantime try the Vendor Review area. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/category/wedding-vendors
  13. Ummm, I want to go there - how cool would it be to stay in one of those little huts!?
  14. I know this isn't helpful to moms of boys, but I heard another girls name that I like today - our waitress was named Sabrina. I thought that was really cute.
  15. Kellan and Brayden are the 2 we could agree on, and my husband didn't really love Kellan. i didn't know when i fell in love with the name that it was becoming popular because of twilight. damn it! but we ended up with Sean Brayden ... actually i regret not putting my maiden name in there for a middle name. it was my dad's only chance to have his name passed down at all (i don't really like his first or middle name, Donald Richard) but my maiden name would have been a decent middle name. oops.
  16. what about arranging for them to be passed out when people check into their hotel rooms?
  17. I'd suggest contacting one of the Travel Agents on this forum, I'm sure they could help you not only get the wedding planning going but also help arrange your travel!
  18. yikes! well, welcome to the forum - this is the right place to get started at least. there are plenty of girls that got married there and i am sure they can help. have you checked out the hawaii section? if you need any help, don't hesitate to ask or check out the FAQ section!
  19. oohhhh! that's what i did - i looked at magazines, read the credits of movies, etc - anything for name inspiration! and still we only had a couple boy names that we seriously considered. most all of them were irish though, but that's what i wanted. trouble is so many irish names are too popular.
  20. i'm going to move this thread to a more appropriate sub-forum.
  21. what about just an informal cocktail hour or more of a "we'll be here from 9pm-11pm" or something so that people can see you, hang out, and meet everyone else. that way you save money (yay!) and people aren't stressed about making a dinner.
