oh thanks for bumping this - i forgot to come back earlier! i'll be brief since i don't have much time, but here goes ... - I am diabetic (type I) so i was high risk and closely monitored from the start, even when trying to conceive i had to go to my endo (diabetes doc) more often - i tried to get pregnant 4 times, got prego 4 times, but just carried the 2 to term. - i had 1 successful pregnancy, then 2 miscarriages (1 i had to get a D&C), then a successful pregnancy. the 1st m/c was early, i'm calling it a chemical pregnancy but was never diagnosed. the 2nd i lost around 10-11 weeks but had the D&C around 11-12. was living in london for both so the medical care was a little different. - my quad screening came back w/an elevated risk (1 in 100 or something around there) for trisomy __ with both of my pregnancies . i can't remember which one. but with both i went in for a level 2 (detailed) u/s and they saw no signs of anything wrong so all was well. - with my 1st pregnancy i had my daughter at 32 weeks ... a real preemie. turns out i had "ruptured membranes" when i went into the ER one night - that was a Wed night ... I had her that following Mon morning at 32 weeks prego on the dot. she was in the NICU for about 5 weeks and is now the happiest and healthiest 3.5 year old! oh, and i was traveling out of state for work when this all happened, so she was born in CA (we lived in MN) - with my 2nd (to-term) pregnancy i had a scare at 25 weeks, i thought for sure i was going into labor. turns out i had some kind of infection. i got some antibiotics and was fine. looking back i wonder if that's exactly what happened with my 1st prego - untreated infection that caused premature labor. - because of the diabetes, past pre-term delivery, and now age i was high-risk for several reasons! i was at the doctor 2-3 times a week starting around 29 weeks (and every week starting at 17 weeks for the shot) - i was getting progesterone shots from 17 weeks on with my 2nd pregnancy to hopefully prevent preterm labor - i was so big (big baby + excess fluid) that they wanted to give me an amnio just to drain the excess fluid. it didn't happen because the on-call doc disagreed, but man was i uncomfortable. i was measuring at 44+ weeks prego when i was 35 weeks. ouch. - i gave birth via c-section to my son at 36w5d ... almost full term! he's now a happy, healthy 15 mo. old! i feel like i am missing some of the smaller issues i had, but that's the big stuff.

i did a search but didn't come up with anything but Ivan, so hopefully someone can chime in!

before everyone starts panicking remember that every LC coordinator has operated in the same way. they are taking care of the current LC brides and grooms first, and then the future ones. they will respond immediately when you're date is close but sometimes it takes more time when you don't need an immediate response. i can't remember a bride yet that didn't get great, personal service when she really needed it ... when her date was fast approaching! of course, I don't know annie but i know Kelley and Nicole (before Kelley) and they were both great so it seems LC has a pattern of fabulous WCs. i also remember that people worried about Kelley at first!

typically people will send the save the date (STD) as soon as they know the date and in the case of a DW, as soon as they have the travel info so that people can plan and book accordingly. but then send out "real" invites closer to the wedding day once those details have been ironed out (location, time, etc.)

Vow Renewal ON the airplane?
LCBride2007 replied to HazelsMelody's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
while I LOVE the idea of it, i don't think i'd do it. i just don't know that i'd enjoy the moment ... planes aren't romantic to me. maybe because i used to travel every week for work? but i also agree with really wanting to do it ON the anniversary. can you find someone (not the resort) that can do it that evening off of the resort? -

I would call their wedding coordinator and see what they offer. this is pretty much what we did. we stayed at Dreams PV as well, and had a private welcome dinner by the pool. it was an extra cost per person (I can't remember how much) but i had appetizers and dinner. it was nice because people got to mingle and get to know each other w/o taking over a restaurant.

i can totally see this happen! you can get great ideas from this forum, which is both a good and bad thing! lol we did have fire dancers at the end of our reception, and i'm glad we did. but i didn't want our wedding to turn into a circus show, ya know? so i think keeping it simple is best, and then maybe throw in a special touch that would be really cool to you and your guests. but remember that getting married on the beach is cool by itself!

Any advice is appreciated
LCBride2007 replied to mssannita's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
i'd say you should start with the fun stuff, dress shopping, maybe just start thinking about what you want your wedding to be like ... decorations, etc. you really have plenty of time but it doesn't hurt to start collecting pictures, etc to get a general idea of what you want. since it sounds like you already have the location decided on that's huge. but if you haven't already you could touch base with the wedding coordinator and just see what she suggests you do. ooohhh - start looking for a photog. if you're going to fly someone in or just book w/someone other than the hotel photog you'll want to start looking now. -
When to send out STDs and Invitations?
LCBride2007 replied to aprily24's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I would say yes, wait for a date to be booked before you send out your STD otherwise, well, they don't have a date to save. You don't need to provide a ton more details on the STD but at least a date and "preferred" travel dates. you would also want to include a suggested hotel or two. the idea of the STD is for your guests to not only save the date but ideally book their travel arrangements. you can't do with w/o a date. if you wanted to send something now, just announcing your engagement you could do that - send an engagement announcement and maybe even mention your plans to get hitched abroad. -

Airfare Drama...
LCBride2007 replied to micheleann's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
i can see why you'd panic! airlines are always changing their schedules so i suppose there's a chance that they'll come back - i don't even think they know their schedules yet! and even if you had booked, they can always change or cancel on you. yikes, are you working with a TA at all? -
Hi there you two! It's overwhelming at first, that's for sure. Here is a link to the Cuba forum to you may want to dig around a little here. I'm sure there are tons of brides (and grooms!?) there to get you started! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/f/73/cuba-weddings
