  1. We tried to have all of our appointments scheduled before the site visit. We met with two photographers to meet them. If you can, I would highly recommend this. We met with 2 that are both very popular on this board, but after meeting with them, only really connected with one. We also did our cake tasting (which I dont know if you need at an AI). We went to ton of restaurants so that we could find one for the RD, and we arranged the tastings with the hotel.
  2. This is so great. i am going to listen to your tips!! No one better to tell you what you should do than someone who has gone through it!!
  3. Jenetta, I do not remember seeing flowers at Mega. They did have a couple candles and votives, but not a big selection. There is a Costco there, and I believe the membership is international, so we are planning on joining here for $50, and using it there for wine for the RD and champagne for the wedding (we are paying corkage) and all teh stuff for the out of town bags.
  4. Hi everyone! We returned from our site trip last week and have almost everything figured out!! All you girls were so helpful. We decided on the Hilton. We just loved our posh it is, Emeline is great, and they have such great venues. We decided to do 3 nights of events. The first night is sort of a mini event, but we are doing a beach bonfire with smores and light food and margs and beer. Second night we are almost 100% doing the RD at La Panga, and the wedding will be at the Hilton. We met with a couple photographers, and are leaning towards Sergio (if anyone has used him let me know if you liked!!). We are doing a wedding cake with Chef Hatton (over 1/2 less than what Hilton is charging for a cake). Maye is arranging the music and flowers. She wants to use Flor de liz for flowers and either DJ Arturo Ortiz or DJ Ricardo. Her musicians are Sabrosura. Does anyone have any experience, either good or bad, with these venders? Ohh..such a FYI..one the way from the airport you pass this place called the Mega (sort of like a super target). We stocked up on beer and water and bread and PB and J, great way to save a TON of money!
  5. Hi everyone! We leave next week for our one and only site visit, and want to do as much as we can. Right now, we are meeting with the 3 hotels and Maye's assistant Katya (Maye is out of town..has anyone worked with katya?). Should we meet with various other vendors (i.e. florists, cake, music, photo) or is that done over the phone? Has anyone gone down and met with a few photographers before choosing one? Thanks!
  6. Hi everyone! We are going to Cabo in 3 weeks for our site visits, and hope to pick our menus, etc. A big concern i have is making sure no one gets sick from the food. We will be holding our reception at one of the big hotels (either Westin, Sheraton, or Hilton) and hope to have a RD somewhere in town, such as Baja Cantina, or a sunset cruise. Usually when I go to Mexico 9and this hasnt been in over 5 years) I am very careful what I eat and drink (i.e. no water, ice cubes, salad, basically anything washed in water). Has anyone taken this into account when planning their menu? It seems hard to plan a 3 course seated dinner with no salad! Am I just being over cautious?
  7. Hi Everyone! We will be going to Cabo for the first time (and only time before our wedding) December 1-5 to conduct site visits to pick a hotel. We are looking at 3 hotels. Should we try to stay at all 3? What is the deal with comp/discounted rooms when looking at hotels?
  8. Natasha- Do you have Claudia's contact info?? Thanks for all the recs!
  9. Does anyone have any other suggestions of hotels we can look at? We are doing our site visit December 1-5, and because we are so far away, we can only go this once before the wedding. Right now we have talked to the Hilton and the Westin. I have called, emailed, and filled out a request for the Sheraton, and have still heard nothing back. We do not want all inclusives and we need to keep the rooms under $250/night. I really want to look at more than 2 hotels!! Any ideas
  10. Thank you so much for the information. Does anyone have the contact email for someone they worked with at the Sheraton?
  11. Having never been to cabo, we chose it based on great reviews. The hotels were are looking at are the Hilton and the Westin. The Hilton seems to be a popular choice, but there isnt much mentioned on the Westin. Does anyone know anything about it? Also, we are interested in the Sheraton, yet have called twice and no one has called back. Does anyone have any further contact info? Thanks!~!
