  1. Jenesis, Thanks for the info. Can you explain what the Hilton provided in terms of candles and lanterns? What were the lanterns like? Where they the bags with the sand and the candle or something else? Thanks!
  2. Kristi, That is exactly what we want to do, and we are also getting married at the sun fun hut. You said your husband brought lights there? Where di he get them? Thanks
  3. Welcome to our nightmare! We looked EVERWHERE. There is no rabbi in Cabo. We are flying a rabbi in from the US. Also, I am sure that you know this, but I believe it is not a legal wedding.
  4. We are having our RD at La Panga, and would like to have a slideshow. I ahve no idea what kind of equipment that requires, but I am assuming it is a computer, projector, screen, and audio? We will be bringing our computer, but need to rent the other stuff. I am being quoted over $600 for this stuff, which seems insane. So has anyone dealt with this? What equipment did you need and who did you rent it from?
  5. So are tips a percentage of the cost, such as 10%, or do you just give a set amount, which would be much less than 10%, like $50. Do you tip photographers?
  6. I am looking for a place to host a dinner for our two families. Since we are having our rehersal dinner at La Panga, we are looking for something more casual, yet somewhere still nice and clean. We were hoping to get family style fajitas or something like that. I emailed Mi Casa, and they will only do the typical 3 course meal. Maye suggested El Comal, but I know nothing about it. Has anyone been there?
  7. Sassygirl- Your wedding is so soon!! Yeah!! What venue at the Hilton are you getting married at? Also, is the hotel providing the luminaries for just the reception site, or also for the walkway down to the beach for the ceremony? Is there a charge for this?
  8. Hi All the Hilton Brides! If you are planning your Hilton wedding or have had one, I have complety stressed about the lighting. I want the lighting to be natural and dim, and do not want to use any of the Hilton provided huge lights. I am thinking more candles and lanterns. I am afraid though it will be too dark. Has anyone else thought of this??
  9. I am having my wedding at the Hilton, and would like to use all candlelight (so no spotlights). I thought about filling the pool with floating candles, but cant seem to find the right candles to make this work. Has anyone else done this?
  10. I am having my wedding at the Hilton this upcoming November, and we also met with Emeline when we were down there and loved her. I have to tell you though, as soon as we signed the contract, she became unresponsive. Now if I email her, it takes a while for her to get back to me, and there isnt as much hand holding as before. We are also using Maye, and if we werent, I would be feeling really scared during this process!!
  11. The Hilton is charging a ridiculous amount for their sparkling wine, so we would like to get good champagne somewhere else and just pay the corkage. We saw that there is a Costco there, but did not go in. First of all, if we have a Costco card here, is is good there also? Also, if anyone has done this, do thay have good brands, like Moet and Veuve? Is there somewhere better to get champagne from? Thanks!
  12. Hi everyone! I am using Maye as my wedding coordinator, and she says she uses a florist in San Jose, Cora for transportation, and Kelli for make-up. Has anyone used any of these people? Like/dislike?Also, for those using Maye who did not use these vendors, who did you use? Thanks!
  13. I could not seem to find a website for them. I am interested in having our family dinner here for 16 people. Do you have sample group menus? Any contact info?
  14. Since our families have never met, we are planning to take them out to dinner the night before everyone else arrives. In total, there will be 16 of us. Our parents are pretty formal, but we dont want to spend $50/person (with wine). We are staying at the Hilton, and doing our RD at La Panga (somewhere like that is too much). Any ideas?
  15. Does anyone have an recs for places online for bridesmaids dresses? My bmaids are all over the country, so getting them from a store here in DC isnt easy for them. I love teh style of the Jcrew ones, but there isnt any that I LOVE, but something along those lines. Any ideas?
  16. You should absolutely try to meet with your photographer! We met with two different ones, and one of tme REALLY rubbed us the wrong way. There was just something that didnt click with us, and we LOVED the other, but would not have known if we didnt meet with them. We also did our cake tasting while we were there.
  17. Did anyone else feel really weird about sending the deposits? I feel like I am just sending these checks with no real accountibility. For those who used Maye, she asked me for a check that she can give as a deposit to the musicians. I feel weird though cause I have no contract with Maye and have never even spoke to the musicians. What did you guys do?
  18. Does anyone have the phone number for Mariachi los Cabos? (that is the group that is $450/hour, right?)
  19. I am trying to get all of our times figured out, and the hotel said people either do a one hour cocktail reception before the real reception or 1.5 hours. What are you guys planning? For those who are married, did you feel the cocktail reception was too short/long??
  20. We are doing our cocktail reception at the Dolphin Terrace and then our reception at the Sun Fun Hut. The Whale Watching Terrace is really nice. When the pool is closed (during your reception) it will be more private. There was a wedding when we visited there and it was nice.
  21. We are doing our RD at La Panga (thanks for the rec Janet!!), but there is also a place called Morgans (there are actually two in San Jose) and they were also great. if you ahve under 40 guests, you can use their amazing rooftop (Morgans II(.
  22. Sorry if there is already a thread on this, but which vendors do you tip? We are having: Maye Florist Cake baker Photographer Musicians Emeline at the Hilton Fun and Motivation Also, what is the standard tip there? Is it teh same as US (18%-20%)? Thanks!!
  23. I am trying to pick between a solo guitarist or a trio for the ceremony? Does anyone have any pros and cons with this when you decided? Also, Maye quoted me $270/hour for the solo and $320/hour for the trio. Are these prices reasonable?
  24. We are having it at the Hilton. We are having a jicama salad (sp) to start, a choice of beef tenderloin or the fish Vera Cruz, and we are bringing in our own wedding cake for dessert. We are working with Emeline to ahve churros and hot chocolate passed around at the end of the reception. I feel though that we should maybe have another sweet with the cake. Did anyone just do cake??
  25. Has anyone used DJ Ricardo or know any feedback on him? Maye suggested him, but I do not know how to tell if he is good. Is there anyway to get a sense from a DJ on what they will be like? Thanks!!!
