  1. I am happy to share! I loved the idea of a flower in my hair- but it is way to short for all of that... I was just having a chat about the hair thing with my mom and about a veil- I was set against it in the beginning (seems like they are always blowing in the wind) but since I am not having a train it makes me think twice... I just do not want to miss that "bride" feeling. But I will wait and see how I feel when my dress is done.
  2. I found it!!!!! I really love this lady's work... I am thinking of ordering some flowers to diy from her....
  3. That is a good one too... this one would do packages of Bridal flowers...had great ideas a vibrant tropical colors- they also sold flowers wholesale.... dang it- this is going to drive me crazy until I find it..... Thanks for the help!
  4. One of you ladies on here posted a link regarding silk flowers you had done for your wedding and well as a photo of yours- they were beautiful- however now I can't seem to find it....please help me.... I can't get some of the pictures from the site out of my mind. TIA-
  5. Let me just say I can relate and I am soooo sorry that you are dealing with this. My soon to be inlaws are divorced and while my FMIL rocks... the FFIL is a pain in the ass- he refuses to even stay on the same island as her- he is so fake and I beleive is worried his new wife may see a whole dif. side of him. He has invited his own group to Mexico that he is keeping in Cancun with them. His wife, her sister and her best friend and another couple they are friends with. We have opt'd to a sunset wedding- drinks and finger food on the beach after then later off to downtown for dinner and clubbing. I am sure FFIL's group will bale early- him and his wife just keep saying it is their vacation and they do not want to bump in the ex all week. We have come to the conclusion that we will pass out a agenda for the trip with some ideas for those that want to join us and spend time-if they chose not to then so be it. We are planning a meet and greet on the Cancun side on Thursday so that those people that stay there do not have to ferry over and we can make it to the mainland to pick up a few things and help those flying in Thursday get settled and up to speed- It has been a pain but we just try to remember it is our day and if someone misses out then fine... We are having a AHR later so we are not planning anything real formal in Mexico- not sure if this has helped but feel free to PM if you need to vent- I know it can get heavy some times... The more we get into it with them the more I am so convinced that if we made the right choice with Mexico.... they would have me insane with a formal wedding. Hang in there!
  6. We are getting married on Isla Mujeres on Oct. 5th.- the biggest suggestion I have is "trip insurance" - I understand and bet I could about quote many of those conversations word for word. I am sure we will have beautiful weather and let me know if you want to team up with some planning since we are pretty close in dates. Congrats and remember it is your day....
  7. THANK YOU! Now to print off the two of them and see how off base we are at this point... I will update as soon as I finish my happy dance or stop beating myself up for dragging my feet
  8. I have seen tons of "checklists" broke down by months for planning and leading up to the big day.... but they just do not seem to "fit" with a DW... do any of you gals have one that does... it seems like I am forgetting some serious stuff lately and I want to be sure I do not forget anything... TIA for any help along the way...
  9. Thanks ladies... I was hoping to be able to afford to order some for our guests and to use AHR to attach pictures to and a note on the back for special thank yous for those that helped use cook and prepare for the party... kind of something special and a bit of island flavor... use it almost like a picture frame- the local dollar store has some small plate style stands that would be great to lean them up in.... I will try to find one local and post a picture so I can show you what I mean...
  10. I have been all over this site...anyone have a lead on low cost palm fans... looking for about 50 of them...I remember seeing somewhere a pic posted that used one for a place card (can't recall where)... I would like one a bit bigger... TIA for the help
  11. I just saw a ton of these in tropical colors at Hobby Lobby for like 2.69 each... also if you want plain white ones try orential trading... they seemed cheap for like 2 dozen... I have thought about them but I really want one personalized...anyone have any ideas on how to paint the plain ones?

I will need to think outside the box on this one....
  13. pinaychic- Are you referring to the Su Casa on Isla Mujeres or were you asking about another resort?
  14. Hello ladies- After much research, shopping online, since I have never been to the area (FH has about 4 times) I found that Cancun to me ended up being to Mexico what Vegas is the US. So we started to shop around, FH had taken an day trip to Isla Mujeres and found it to be quiet and a bit set back in time. So there we have it... Oct. 5, 2007 on the island, now we know that the island feel is not for everyone traveling (especially FFIL- so him and his group of guest...I beleive the count was around 5 maybe 9 total) will be staying in Cancun and coming to the island the day of the wedding... works out best anyway since his parents are divorced and his dad is remarried and an ass about things.... FMIL well.... she rocks... So she will be on isla with the remain 6-9 people. We are looking a quiet spot called Su Casa Beach Cottages I knew we wanted the beach and the sand... something old world feel instead of a resort... with the help of a WC on the island it looks like the dream will come true.. We are looking at a sunset wedding, a trio to play durring the ceremony (civil only) then cocktails and a small fire on the beach... after photos and some dancing in the moonlite we will head off the find dinner at a restaurant (will locate and have reservations ahead of time) then soak up a bit of the nightlife...while it does not have the nightlife of Cancun it will be just right for our small crew... something tells me they find fun along the way... There are other vacation plans along the way ... but I will save you those details. Then it is back home on the 9th and AHR on the 20th. So happy planning to you all and please drop me a line with any questions or suggestions.
  15. Not sure if I posted when I first stumbled upon this site... something tells me I did not... things are moving along quickly... I belong to another site that has been great but so few DW brides... it makes it difficult and hard at times for them to relate and there is so much that I have read about that has confirmed that Mexico was the right choice for us... Originally we we looking at Cancun but the more we looked at things the more I feel in love with Isla Mujeres... so that is the spot...no resort.. just a private coordinator ... private beach...maybe a couple of dozen people... and me and my future husband. Very small- very intimate Then back home and a huge celebration - So- Isla Mujeres Oct 5th AHR Oct 20th The name of the love of my life.... Brandon. Please let me know if there are any other brides that have wed on the island... I see that there are a number from Cancun and the area.... would love to chat and compare notes... Best wishes... T
