  1. Ok- yesterday I recieved a package from a friend that just got married- she knew I had been looking for a tiara so she sent me her's.... here is a picture of me trying it on and will give you a better idea of what I have to work with. What do you gals think... **I tried resizing it all the way down in photobucket.... it is still huge... and scary... what am I doing wrong?**
  2. do you have a pict of the dress yet? As far as the shipping idea- well- I have yet to figure that part out- The veil issue is still blowing in the wind.
  3. I'll have to pick up some head bands and play around with it... thanks!
  4. Thanks for the help ladies... It is short and straight.. no curl- I had thought about adding some length- but I do have a few wigs in the closet and Brandon has "put his foot down" so to speak about those being left here at home.... I have kicked around the idea of holding off a hair cut for the time being- It is about the length of the one here in my pic- but I have been known to go shorter.
  5. I have seen tons of inspiration pic for long hair... are there any other short hair bride-to-bes out there with any suggestions.
  6. We are planning on a tri for the ceremony which will last about 20mi. and the set is 45 min. long- After that we will be taking some cd's to play on the beach. We plan on asking our guests what they would like to hear that day and burning cd's ahead of time...
  7. Ok- I admit- I almost wet myself laughing... all I could think of "somebody smack her-"
  8. This was the part I hated the most... if I asked one then someone would feel left out and mad- if we asked others they may not be able to afford to come along but would then "make it happen" and we would feel like an ass at the end of the day- SO we voted for none! We are asking the the entire party - "stand in support" of us. I have let everyone know that the dress code and colors and have asked that they have those attending "fit in" nothing fancy- but dressed nice for an evening on the beach- I so hope my plan does not back fire and bite me in the back side!
  9. I have to admit that I have another forum that I have pretty much been at home with for 6 months- and they are great gals... I have led a couple over here that are DW brides because ... well let's be real- DW are different- off the beat and path of tradional weddings, but I will say that from the very beginning you gals have been great- thanks for all the help and now when I sit down at my computer I am torn between two screens. AND I have to tell you that there are plenty of days that I am over there shaking my head and thanking the sandy beach gods that I am going to Mexico- it has saved so many headaches for me that I have seen other brides go thru. God bless you that have walked the beaches before us... you have laid out a path and saved some of us so much time and reduced the struggle.. and for those still planning - keep your heads up and when you get to the beach-enjoy the sunshine!
  10. akh- I have her price list- pm your email if you need it- I was just telling her by email last night that I would be spreading her name on here- I was out most of the day and did not get to it yet- I orgininally was referred to her by my WC - she is a peach as well-
  11. oh - and if you go to the "wedding stories" on her site- the bride and groom from Isla Mujeres loves her crew and their work. They had a video done and and said it is priceless.
  12. ME!ME!ME! This is the gal I hired to do our wedding and video- I love her! And I have had contact with brides she has taken care of- Cancun area- RM- and yes ISLA MUJERES! She stays super busy and books fast-
  13. I have been thinking about them, what size photo do you think would mount on the smaller ones? There are so many things I want to do, but I am trying to stick to a budget-
  14. I did say that of I did it would be a long on. My dress will not have a train so I thought the veil may trail...but it would so come off after the ceremony
  15. For you flip flop buying brides.... save very simple/ cheap ones in all colors at Hobby Lobby. Question- will you be checking with guest for shoe size- or guess and grabbing sizes... and are you doing just the females?
  16. Way to go! Now comes the waiting game for the RSVP's - let us know if we need to send out any to take care of those guest that drag their feet
  17. LALA_ That is exactly how I feel.... I hate to spend all that money and then leave it in the room.... oh-heck...I am probably damned if I do and damned if I don't
  18. We are ceremony on the beach- starting 5:30ish...takes about 20 min- then sunset- reception still on the beach with finger foods, beach mats, and a small fire pit- we will dance under the stars... then later off to dinner and clubbing. We hired a WC for the ceremony stuff - made it easier for the legal ceremony but the reception part is DIY- there will only be about 15-20 TOPS with us so both moms are on board to make it doable. We are thinking tiki torches asn lots of candles.
  19. I have opt'd to do so much diy that for some reason these two ideas make me nervous... I do not know why- maybe it's the size of the project...small ones hide oopss easier. What type of paint would you use on the parasols
  20. I found a site that has some great pricing.... I am planning on ordering a couple of items from her...I am crafty but on a small scale. http://www.geocities.com/kristinshortt/
  21. I say...Come on down!!!! The more the merrier... caution- this is not one of these resort weddings.... simple..... but kick ass!!!
