  4. Welcome Lisa, glad you could join us. Do you know where you are getting married yet? Have fun, tons of good info around here.
  5. Hi Riviera brides, this may not be for everyone but the Xcaret Park (not the resort), does host weddings. They seem buetiful and from what I have read in reviews the brides who have had their wedding hear were very happy. This could be an idea for brides who are having a wedding off property! Again this is not the Occidental Xcaret Resort, but the ecological park next door to it. http://www.weddingsxcaret.com/union.php
  6. Amy your a very early planner like me... I love that. It feels so great to stumble on a helpfull site after looking at about 1000 unusefull ones.
  7. Carol, It is adults only, it is also where Ryan and I will honeymoon. They have these swim up cassita rooms where you actually just step out of your patio door and right into a lazy man river of sorts, for every few cassitas you have your own personal swim up bartender/pool. These are the more expensive rooms but we are going to splurge, they sound to good to pass up. I have only read awesome reviews on this hotel and the cassitas specifically.
  8. Go MariaElena!!!! Wohooo!!! We cant wait for you to come home.
  9. OUT OF TOWN. How did I miss that one. I have been trying to secretly figure out what the heck that stood for since I joined.

What do you put in them. like flip flops, sunblock, cozies, and stuff. Do you give them to guests on their arrival? Tell me more!

  12. I know, I really truly can not believe how helpful this forum is. NO other forum I have seen out there even comes close in comparison to this one.
  13. I agree. Have them come to you for certain. The more relaxed you feel before you walk down the aisle the better.
  14. I am going with the Occidental Grand Xcaret Riviera Maya because of the following; 1. The resort is buetifull 2. The resort grounds are big enough that our guests wont be right on top of eachother all week, Ryan thinks it is important that our guests not only feel like they are attending a wedding, but are also on there own personal vacation. 3. The resort is affordable to our guests. 4. Travel time to the Riviera Maya is not lengthy 5. It can accomadate children. 6. The town has a lot of activities 7 It is All Inclusive 8. There are condos nearby for guest that do not want an All Inclusive 9. It is within close proximity to our honeymoon resort. 10. This may sound silly, but there is an ecological park next door to the resort and it looks amazing, if you stay at the Occidental you get a free pass into the park. 11. POOL BARS!

  16. Thanks Tammy, I forgot there was even an Oct. contest. This is such a cool surprise to my day. WOHOOOOO.
  17. Its so weird that you mention asking Juan about any good references in PV, becuse I was just thinking this morning after seeing him floating around here if he would hava any recomendations for RM photographers. The photographer/pictures are on the top of my list of most important too. It is one of the wedding details that I am willing to pay good money for. That would be great if he had any recomendations, he is so good at what he does, his pictures/slideshows are just amazing. I am going to be on the hunt for quality photographers, if I come across any in the PV area I will let you know. According to the girls around here, the good photographers book up really fast so the sooner you get a photog booked the better I think.
  18. Thanks Juan, everyone around here gets supper excited for your wedding slideshows.
  19. Link to a really easy to read summary of what the different whether (rainfall/humidity/avg high low ect.) averages are in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area of Mexico. Thought I would post it for those of you who hadnt decided on a date yet for your wedding. Might be helpfull. http://www.travelyucatan.com/info-5a.htm
  20. Jenises, I think its a 20 dollar limit and Janet is going to be in charge of picking who gets who for their Secret Santa. I think.
  21. 2006 My husband and I were married at the del Mar in late May. For all you couples thinking about getting married here, we would recommend it! I know it can be very nerve-racking planning a wedding in a different country, but don't worry -- the wedding coordinator here (Priscyla) has everything under control! I read reviews on this site religiously for several months before we left, so I thought I would write one, especially for all you brides anxious about your wedding! We arrived 5 days before our wedding, and had so much fun with our friends and family. Our group included 22 adults and 4 kids. We had a "rehearsal dinner " (although we did not have a rehearsal) the night before the wedding at the Japanese restaurant. I highly recommend this - it was fun and the chefs put on a great show while cooking! The wedding was at 5:00 on the beach. The weather was perfect - sunny with a few clouds. I recommend having your ceremony on the beach -- the nice breeze and the ocean are so amazing, and provide a great backdrop for pictures. We had a few onlookers, but it didn't bother us. The gazebo site is very pretty too but it is closer to the lobby and the further away from the beach you are, the hotter it gets. I had my hair done at the salon (along with the bridesmaids), and it withstood the ocean breeze. The salon did a great job -- you can bring in a picture of how you want your hair done or they have a book you can look at and pick out a style. After the ceremony, we took pictures on the beach. We hired an outside videographer and photographer (Claudia Rodriguez photography) and they were amazing -- we highly recommend them! Our wedding was on a Monday, and we had our video, pictures, negatives, and a CD with all of the pictures in our hands by Friday evening (they delivered them to our honeymoon resort -- the El Dorado Royale -- which we totally loved and would highly recommend!). The wedding flowers were beautiful. After pictures, we hired the mariachi band to play for an hour. We also rented out the Tropical restaurant from 7-11 pm. The mariachi's were so good - very entertaining and worth it! The restaurant had a bar and appetizer/salad buffet, and we were served plated meals (our group had the skirt steak, which was very flavorful and tender). The cake provided by the resort was very pretty - the decorate it with flowers that match your bouquet. We had the vanilla cake and it was very good (we were so stuffed from dinner that we only had a few bites). We hired the DJ to play music during dinner and afterwards. We had several CDs of music already put together for the DJ to play. The DJ provided the speakers and microphone. We danced for a little bit, but it was so hot that evening that we didn't dance as much as I thought we would. One thing I would recommend for wedding groups who plan on doing a lot of dancing at their reception is to rent out the disco (which is air conditioned). The Tropical restaurant is nice, but it gets really hot when you are dancing around. The ocean breeze doesn't reach it too well because building 10 is in between the restaurant and the beach. As far as the resort is concerned, we really enjoyed our time here and would recommend it to anyone. We thought the food was very good; we loved our room (building 10 with a great view of the beach); the beach and ocean were amazing, and the service was top notch. Again, for you couples planning a wedding down here, try not to stress about it too much - it will be beautiful!
