El Dorado Wedding~more pictures

[quote=CABOBRIDE200;13651]I was actually considering using Sol Tamargo as my photographer. She is based out of Cancun. I love her photos! She and Matt are engaged. I think he is based out of South Carolina. Apparently, they now travel together photographing weddings. They are both awesome photographers! You can tell from Sol's blog that she really loves her work. Here is a link to her blog.... Thats great info. I want an exceptionally good photographer and I am willing to pay for it, but it kinda kills me to think of paying one to travel to RM. I will if I have to though. There has got to be a great photographer somewhere in the RM/Cancun area. I just cant seem to find them yet. Maybe if Sol is based in Cancun then I wont have to pay a traveling fee. Sorry, I think all these different posts are starting to mesh in my head as one big post. OOPs! Quote: Originally Posted by host i justs ent juan an email... Great! I cant wait to hear what he says. Found another traveling destination wedding photographer. Van de Maele Peter. Looks like he does amazing work. Main website is www.d-eye-d.com You can navigate through pick your destination country and see the pricelist for that country. Mexico pricing is from about (guestimate) 3500.00 to 6000.00 I believe this includes travel.

Carol those are such great pictures. What a nice location.

Aw Man you guys are so lucky, I want a mexico bride friend to meet up with for a beer and wedding talk.

OOPs this is her website link, I just found it, this one goes directly to her website. http://www.mayecortinas.com/

Ok, her name is Maye Cortinas, here is a link to some info about her. http://www.loscabosguide.com/mayeweddings/index.html Like I said I'm not the greatest source for info in regards to Cabo but she is definitly highly recomended among this board. I'm sure there are a couple other WC's that the girls could recomend to you too. Hope this helps for a start anyway. I believe her prices are fairly reasonable too. Good luck.

There arent a ton of girls on the forum right now, but I'm sure once they come on and see your threads you will get a lot of advice on Cordinators. I believe "Maya" is one of the most highly recomended in Cabo around here. I'm actually planning a wedding in the Riviera Maya part of Mexico so I'm not the best as far as Cabo info goes. I will search the forum for some info on Maya. Most of the girls that belong to this forum are Cabo brides and a lot are (or did) also using Wedding Cordinators so they should be able to help you.

Amy (CaboDate), I moved your post to your own new thread so that you dont get skimmed over in this thread. The thread is called "Newbie Too" its under the Newbies section. Good Luck with all your planning. Tons of info on Cabo in here and tons of girls to help you out.

Hello Amy and welcome. I moved your post to your own new thread so that us girls wouldnt skim over it in the other thread. You are in the right place. There are a ton of girls getting married in Cabo on here. Too many to list I think. Tons and tons of info and helpfull girls in regards to Cabo. Happy searching, dont be afraid to ask questions. Have you found your resort yet? Congratulations.

I'm torn between Casa Natalia or Baja Cantina... two VERY different places. Casa Natalia can do a full dinner with wine for 50 people for $5K (with tax and service chanrges included). Baja Cantina can do a taco bar and open domestic bar for 50 peeple for about $4K... so what would people rather have? I have no idea. The food at Casa Natalia will be WAY better but then the bar is limited and the atmosphere is a lot more formal. At Baja Cantina it'll be more of a bonfire on the beach with taco buffet and could be fun but also is sort of similiar to what we're doing for the Reception... jeesh! Either way I'll also need a bus for guest to go to/from the venue... Ahhhhhh! I just wish I didnt' have to decide this all now. But if I want to include it in the invite then I need to. So maybe that'll be my decision. Procrastination. yes, I think I vote procrastination. I would say tacos and open bar at the Baja. 1. it seems more ethnic and mexicanee 2. It sounds more fun and enjoyable. 3. It cost less money. But I dont know your guests so I could be completely wrong. I would much rather sit by a bonfire and have a relaxed atmosphere with good laughs with my friends and family than at a sit down atmosphere where the only people you get to really chat with are the people to the left of you right of you infront of you.

In regards to asking your parents to help out. I personally couldnt do this seeing as though I am allready asking people to spend there money to travel to Mexico for my wedding in the first place. Is it tradition for the parents of the engaged couple to pay for certain parts of their childrens wedding? Yes. But is it tradition for an engaged couple to ask their parents and guests to travel to another country for their wedding? NO. I guess I just feel it is one of the few sacrifices you give up when hosting youre wedding in another country. Just my opinion though. Hey if they offer to pay for something then by all means go for it.

Congrats ladies. Damn it I keep forgetting to play.

"Dreams" in general has such a good reputation around here, I'm sure you wont be dissapointed. I think I looked at every island on the map before I pinpointed Mexico, and then I went through every area of Mexico before I pinpointed Riviera Maya. Go with your gut feeling. I'm sure wherever you decide will be great. I'll be on the lookout for good Dreams Cancun info. Sturbridge is a lovely area. We head over to Conneticut once a year or so to visit family and I love stopping at all the country stores and finding little antiques to bring home. Antiques on the Cape are riduculously overpriced.

If you want the original files, let me know your email address and I can send them to you. Ann, that is awesome info. I wanted to e-mail him but I am hesitant untill I book the date of the wedding. Did you say you e-mailed Juan Carlos also. And if so what were his prices in comparison. I thought I read that you said he would be willing to travel. -

Sorry Jill, I totally hijacked your thread with my site visit plans. Anyway, I just noticed now that you are from Massachussetts. What area? I live on Cape right onver the bridge in Falmouth. Are you having any luck with narrowing down you decision on a wedding location or a wedding month/date? Or did you allready decide, I might have missed the post. There are so many I get burried in them easily.

Welcome Jill, I have a cousin that was married in Jamaica and said thay loved it. Good luck in your planning.

Wedding Dress Prices?
Jackie replied to gkashmira's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I voted for the 1000 - 2000 range. I am hopeing to find a pre-owned dress for under 2 k. and under 1 k would be even better. I am going to try my hardest to keep it under a grand but love is priceless so if I find "the dress" and it is over then so be it. How I justify this.... um sorry to all my guests but they arent getting any cake, and also Mexico is so butiful that I do not plan on spending much if anything on decorations. -
Early Congrats Rebecca, Have a wonderful wedding. And a great hooneymoon too.

I am going with the Occidental Grand Xcaret Riviera Maya because of the following; 1. The resort is beautiful 2. The resort grounds are big enough that our guests wont be right on top of each other all week, Ryan thinks it is important that our guests not only feel like they are attending a wedding, but are also on there own personal vacation. 3. The resort is affordable to our guests. 4. Travel time to the Riviera Maya is not lengthy 5. The resort can accommodate children. 6. Riviera Maya has a lot of activities 7 The resort is All Inclusive 8. There are condos nearby for guest that do not want an All Inclusive or want to save money and travel in groups. 9. It is within close proximity to our honeymoon resort. 10. This may sound silly, but there is an ecological park next door to the resort and it looks amazing, if you stay at the Occidental you get a free pass into the park. 11. POOL BARS!
