You know what, I have never seen a fireplace like this. I like it I wouldnt change it. Its a really nice focul point. Maybe dress up the walls around it a little more so the fireplace looks a little bit closer to everything and not by itself in the middle of everything. If that makes sense.

Once you choose your resort and get a feel of weather or not the resorts WC is up to the task or up to your standards than you will know weather or not to hire outside help. Thats why it is really good to try and do some research before you book your resort. You can usually get a good idea of what each resorts reputation is in regards to weddings with a little looking around.

Welcome, I'm so excited to see all the pics from you EDR wedding gals! It is a buetifull resort for a wedding and Ive only heard great things about it. Have you been in touch with their WC? I would shoot her an e-mail. Supposedly they are very good to work with in regards to weddings. As for photographers, geez there are so many great ones out there but I believe that in order to bring an outside photographer into the resort they must be a "guest". This is just what I have read other places so I could be wrong. But this goes with most AI resorts in the RM which is kind of a bummer. Some great photogs to name a couple! Johnathen (he posted in your thread first page) Elizabeth Medina Leigh Miller Sol Tomargo Juan Carlos Tapia As far as flowers music etc goes the resort cordinator should be able to help you with all these things.

What a PIA. Sorry to hear that. Thank goodness it was clear to both parties that it was his fault though.

Map of the Riviera Maya
Jackie replied to Jackie's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I think every bride is different but for the most part most guests stay at the same resort as the bride and grooms resort. Big reasons would be 1. to have time to spend with eachother and 2. If staying at an AI it costs money for someone to come on the property and spend the day at the resort for the wedding ceremony and reception. Almost like an admission fee. I looked around for a map with all the resorts but I couldnt find one . I"ll have to look harder later on tonight. -
Welcome to the forum. Its so nice to see a mom on the board! Tell us more about the weddings we love to hear the silly details!

October wedding or not???
Jackie replied to Mrs.Morley's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
For some reason I thought I replied to this but it must have not gone through. I agree with tammM though. The actual chance of a hurrican hitting is not highly likely if you look at the statistics BUT it is huricane season and there is still that chance. If it was just a vacation than I would say take the chance. But its your wedding, and so much time and effort is put into that special day, not to mention the memories and pictures you will have forever. If a huricane did hit than it would possibly ruin one of the most important days of your life. -
Hmmmm, well it is not the best time of year to travel because of hurricanes. However the chance that a hurricane actually hits the RM the week of your wedding or the week before your wedding is a lot lower than you think. I was researching this for a little while and while I dont remember the statistics the end result was that it was possible that a hurricane could hit but it wasnt probable that one would. We decided against planning it for this time of year and just holding off untill May when the weather is almost guarenteed to be buetifull. If it was just a vacation I was planning than I would have been fine with taking the risk and booking in October BUT its a wedding and a lot of money and time goes into it not to mention the memories you will have forever. To me, it isnt worth the risk. There are other areas however that dont get hit so often with huricanes if you are dead set on an October wedding. Aruba for example. There are more I'm just not sure!

There are so many great resorts to pick from in the RM Cancun area. Dreams resorts (super popular for weddings) RIU resorts Occidental resorsts Iberostar resorts There are a ton more but these would be the best bet if you wanted to keep it under 20k, these resorts are also AI.

Thats a good idea to put it on your website. I'll have to remember that! -
Welcome Welcome!!!! The RIU's are such a popular pick for weddings. There are many RIU brides around here to help you out. Let us know if you have any specific quesitons.

Tammy posted a map of the RIU resort in PDC and I thought it might be helpfull to post a map with the general layout of the Riviera Maya because it is such a big stretch of land. This map does not includ all the resorts but there are a good amount of them here. and some more maps: Can-Do Maps and travel guides

For days that I want my eye makeup to stay put and look its best I put a primer underneath. That way the eyeshadows dont end up melting together on your eyes. You can get these primars from many different distributers I think mine is Marry Kay. PS, not very impressed with Marry Kays skin or makeup products but the primer works fine.

Gram Web has a makeup line out. I think its called bibo, I buy a different eyeshadow at the hairdressers everytime I get my hair done. I believe they cost about 14.00 bucks each. My favorite is "scorch" a rich shinny chocolaty one.

timelines for planning
Jackie replied to cancun1007's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Thats a good question. I found this checklist maybe it will help! 6 Months to a Year Before Your Destination Wedding ___ Decide on a wedding budget ___ Find your wedding style ___ Announce your engagement ___ Choose a wedding date ___ Choose a wedding location ___ Research the location, including using online resources, renting books from the library, purchasing books, talking to the local tourist bureau, and talking to friends and family who have been there. Ask resorts for "package deal information", special honeymoon/destination wedding offers, and other informative literature. ___ Look into marriage license requirements, and confirm them with the local tourist board ___ Find a local wedding coordinator – resorts often have someone on staff or you may be able to find someone through the tourist bureau. ___ Put together a wedding guest list ___ Send "Save the Date" cards ___ Follow up with guests by phone to get a general head count ___ If you want a traditional wedding dress, find it now ___ Start considering the groom's attire ___ Start considering the wedding party's attire ___ Obtain necessary legal documents, including, if necessary, passports, divorce certificates, visas, identification, birth certificates, notarized declarations of never having been married. ___ Consider your Bridal Beauty 4 to 6 Months Before Your Destination Wedding ___ Work with your wedding coordinator to find a wedding florist, musicians, wedding photographer and wedding officiant. You may also want to find a hairstylist, makeup artist, and/or nail salon. ___ Decide on your wedding menu ___ Finalize wedding ceremony and reception details, arrange for signed contracts to be sent to you. ___ Order wedding invitations ___ Register for wedding gifts ___ Buy wedding rings. Consider having your wedding rings engraved. ___ Buy your plane tickets ___ Negotiate discounts with airlines and hotels ___ Create and distribute a wedding website or newsletter to share travel and wedding information ___ Finalize the groom's attire ___ Write and order your wedding invitations 2 to 4 Months Before Your Destination Wedding ___ Mail your wedding invitations ___ Begin choosing or writing your wedding vows ___ Shop for shoes and other accessories ___ Make sure all of the wedding party and other essential people have made their travel arrangements ___ Finalize the bridal party attiref 1 to 2 Months Before Your Destination Wedding ___ Order wedding favors and gifts ___ Have your final dress fitting ___ Shop for vacation wear, including swimsuit(s), a rehearsal dinner outfit, sun protection 2 Weeks Before Your Destination Wedding ___ Confirm all details with hotel, chef or caterer, florist, photographer, officiant, musicians and/or DJ, and others involved in the wedding ___ Arrange guest seating, if necessary ___ Assemble favors and/or welcome bags Upon Arrival ___ Apply for a marriage license ___ Meet with your wedding coordinator ___ Meet with your officiant ___ Visit the ceremony site ___ Distribute welcome bags to guests' rooms ___ Go over last minute details ___ Relax! Your Wedding Day ___ Do your best to relax, enjoy yourselves, focus on each other, and have fun with your friends and family. There are a couple things in the timeline I would do differently though. Like book the photographer is in the 4 6month range when I think it should be the first vendor you book after booking the location and the date in the 6-12month range. And I also think that sending the invitations should be moved from the 2-4 month range into the 4-6month range. But at least this can give you some what of a guideline. -
