Thanks Leigh, good advice. If we do OOT bags I plan on keeping an eye on Target all summer, they really do have some good deals.

Booking Rooms for wedding location???

The way my block works is that I have to book at least 10 rooms for 2 nights, because I'm getting married on a Saturday in resorts Palapa area. The room block is not a problem for my group....I'm expecting many guests. The rooms that are not booked in my 40 room block by my release date are released back to the hotel. (except 10 rooms must be booked, as mentioned above). The money I put down for the deposit of the block goes toward the cost of the reception, or can be credited back to my room or my credit card while we're staying at the resort. So the deposit is sort of a savings account for the reception, by my view. OK, that makes sense. -
I believe that all the Dreams resorts work the same. They are unlimited everything. However you may need to make reservations for restaurant dining, I'm not sure. Someone around here will know though.

Booking Rooms for wedding location???
Jackie replied to DreaW's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
Hmmm, I'm not to sure about all of this. But I though maybe you didnt pay for roomblocks unless they dont get booked before the release date in which you would release them. I could be totally wrong though. Maybe if Tammy sees this thread she will have some better advice. But just from reading previous threads I do know that room blocks are always a good idea. I am also working with a TA (Tammy), but have never used one before this, but seeing as though its a wedding and Tammy and most TA's are so much more knowledgable on the subject than I am I thought it would be safest to use one. -
Yup, went to the gym a whole two days in a row so far this week and am aiming to go again tomorrow and Thursday. Wow it does feel great, but its hard to drag your but there in the AM.

Sorry to hear about that. What a downer. At least you are in the right frame of mind of making the best of it. When will you know the flight times, that could make the biggest difference.

Cabo Hotels/Resorts... How soon to book?
Jackie replied to sfbridetobe08's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
I will be booking my wedding resort and date before my site visit. But I'm doing the site visit in September 07 for a May 08 wedding. I think you could definitly do your site visit and than start the booking process. You will still be a little over a year away from your actual date. -

Welcome Paula, I agree June might be tough if you are planning on 2007 but maybe possible if you can do it on a weekday. If you tell us a little bit about what your looking for in a resort we might be able to lead you in the right direction. A couple of the more popular Cancun Wedding resorts would be Dreams Cancun Moon Palace But there are so many more so let us know if we can help!!!

Bringing your fiance dress shopping?
Jackie replied to starchild's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Hmmm, I probably wont. I dont know I feel like I maybe I couldnt concentrate if Ryan was there for some reason. The dress doesnt have to be a total surprise though. Ryan really wants us to get ready together before the ceremony, I havent decided on that one yet though. -
Having a Wedding in Oahu 5/31/07...My experience
Jackie replied to destinationbride07's topic in Oahu Weddings
Sherri thats a great idea, it is exactly what I did when I was one of the few RM brides on the board. As I would find info about resorts I was interested in I would just start posting it...even if no one else was looking at the stuff at least I knew I had it here to look at like my own little journal. -

It's just easier to see the color from afar.) Pick a diamond that has a really wide surface area on top but not as much depth. My diamond looks more like 1 carat when you look at the top, but it's acutally only .7 because it has less depth (which you can't see anyway because it's in the setting) don't buy a name brand/designer ring. Like others have said, the markup is incredible! Janet, you always have the best advice. I would never know to concentrate more on color and what a good idea to get one with a wide surface and less depth. I would spend more on the quality of the stone and mount it in a simple setting, but that's up to your taste. Mines an Asscher Cut, VV2, F, 2 carats, platnium band, a little over $16 for the stone, and $600 for the band. OK I am so in the dark. I just dont know a damn thing. I will definitly be looking for D-F range. So, if you're not worried about having a flawless diamond (I couldn't care less- I just didn't want to see large flaws, but my diamond is "eye clean" when mounted. People can't believe what the actual stats are on my diamond when I tell them (it's G color, ideal cut, 1.51 carats, SI1) because the flaws are hidden and the ideal cut + color make it look really good. Sarah, it sounds like you got a real good deal, and the ring sound gorgeous. Thanks girls!!!!!! With a little more research I should be good to go and I'm hoping that I can come up with something around 4 grand or so. Lately I am just not seeing the validity in spending much more than that.

We bought it at Jaredjared.com - home and I have been really happy with their service, I get my ring cleaned every six months for free and over Christmas time I lost a small diamond they replaced it for free at a store in another state. We actually bought Will's ring there also and have had no complaints about our rings. Total cost for my ring was $2700, we wanted to stay under $3000 and we almost managed to do that including his ring which was just over $400. I think with your budget you can get a nice antique looking ring, your wedding band and his band. You might have a little extra left over even? But that is just my opinion. Oh thank you thats a great site. I'm actually hoping that we dont spend that much. For a long time I wanted this big ring fund of like 10 k but as time gets closer to buy I am feeling so guilty about 6k. Its just so much money to spend on one ring. So if I can build something I really like for under that then we will definitly do that. Quote: Originally Posted by BEACHBRIDEMA My ring was around 8K. Ricky saved a ton by getting it made privately Hope this helps Sarah Yes we are getting it privatly made. Thats the only part we are sure about. lol.

Ok, this may be to private of a question and I totally understand if some of you dont want to answer. Incase some of you dont know Ryan and I are not engaged yet. We are going to be designing a ring soon (end of Feb beginning of March ish) and I was just wondering around how much your rings cost you. Again I'm wicked sorry if that offends anyone and feel free not to answer. We have a 6 thousand dollar budget for my engagement ring. I am actually hoping to come in under this but quality is kind of important to me as its the only "nice" piece of jewelry I will have ever owned. What I am looking for is most likely white gold, yet with an antiquey style to it. I just dont know the first thing about rings. Is this an average price for an engagement ring? Any help would be great.
