I was thinking the same thing, I am skipping the OOT bags becuase most people pack all the pharmacy stuff like advil, pepto, toothpaste, ointment, etc.., I know I do when I go away! Anyway, I think a welcome dinner is a nice show of appreciation for your guests. Believe me they will be so boozed up and in awe of the resort that the'll forget what they came for! She has saiud she can make it with the lowered neckline in the original and can do it as a slip dress instead of sewing it all together (again like the original). The dressmaker says they've made this dress about 50 times but can't give me a referal tyo someone who's bought it before. On the website they have a 100% rating BUT I went through the products that they's sold and none of them are THIS dress. Plus they don't take returns... What do you think? I'm not sure if it really looks the same. But it is about 1/10 of the price ($5K versus $549): eBay: Sexy Lace Open Back Lhuillier Wedding Gown mdl# Monique (item 170049797814 end time Dec-13-06 18:54:33 PST) FRONT: (Original first then knock-off): BACK: (original then knock-off): Please give me your honest opinion!!!! I wish I could just buy the real one The picture of the knock off dress looks beautiful. But I know what u mean, sometimes it looks better in the picture! To be honest, the knockoff seems a little expensive! Check out the website, houseofbrides.com for dresses like Morilee, MonCheri, ForeverYours, Bonny, etc.. They are very affordable and the real deal! They do not charge tax or shipping. I am getting a beautiful Morilee dress for $318.00 that is absoulutely stunning!!! Like my mom says "if u are a beautiful girl u will look great in a potato sack", and from your picture, your beautiful so anything u wear on your day will look stunning on u. Good luck, Cabo love, Rosa

Your guests will be so amazed when they get them. Lots of Cabo love, Rosa
  4. My FI and I saved about the amount your friend spent on her wedding and we are using that money for a down payment on a Condo(unfortunately a house is too expensive in NY right now) and I cannot imagine someone spending that amount or even half of that for 4 hours when people are going to have something negative to say anyway and if u ask me, all the weddings I've been to turned out to look and feel the same, cheesy, guadey and ok food!!!
  5. Hello brides! I have been embraced so well by the wonderful ladies in this forum with such excellent tools and information into planning a DW that I must return the favor. Girls, if u want to save alot money on wedding invitations, try this, I found it on EBAY. It's a Message in a bottle wedding invitation, perfect for an Island wedding. The invitation is scrolled up and tied w/ raffia in a corked bottle which contains sand and tiny shells that is placed in a lovely box to send to your guests(u can get without for cheaper) What a cool idea! I think it's inexpensive because I'm only having 25 people and invitations cost about $4 each so it's not so bad. I don't know how to post the link but if u go to ebay and type in "message in a bottle wedding invitation" u will find at least 4 different styles. Good luck girls. Lots of Island and Cabo love, Rosa

Also, u are right that the resort itself provides the decor of a beautiful backdrop. I am so much more comfortable with the DW thing that I'm so excited to get started and can't wait to show off to my friends that spent a fortune on their weddings(HEHE!!!).
  7. The idea that u did not use to many flowers for your wedding because the resort is already so beautiful really made alot of sense. I also loved your idea on using a flower submerged in water( I hope that was u Tammy, please correct me if I'm wrong) was awesome and elegant. I really think us brides are so brainwashed to spend so much money on overkill items for a wedding that it's no wonder a wedding in the states cost 40K and up!!!! Cabo love, Rosa
  8. Your right, that makes alot of sense. I have been a little concerned about the food from all the negative reviews I read on Tripadvisor.com, it can be very discouraging at times. Thanks for your help. Cabo Wabo love, Rosa

For 20-25 people, 10k will suffice! I know that planning can be overwhelming but we are all here to help. As I tell all brides, invision your day and then go ffrom there. I am also a Dreams bride and 85% finished planning so ask me whatever you'd like. Good Luck!!! Thanks for the tip. I did not know that u cannot use an outside caterer for the food, silly and naive of me to think that. I 'm learning so much from this forum and again, I'm so greatful for all the warm and wonderful responses I've been receiving from everyone, yourself included. Lots of Cabos love. Rosa
  10. There will be approximately 20-25 people coming. I have not booked anything yet but I am definitely steering towards Dreams. My concern is the food, if I should use an outside caterer or have the resort do it. As for as a budget, the most we want to spend is about $10,000. I don't know how much anything costs but I hope this amount would cover all expenses as far as the food, flowers, photographer, etc... If anyone can give me a ballpark figure as to what they are spending (including # of guests) it would be greatly appreciated. I am so new to this forum and the whole DW thing that It feels really overwhelming! Thanks for all the help and quick responses I've been receiving since signing up just one day ago. Lots of Cabo Love, Rosa
