Martha, Are you referring to the new one in Cabo? It is supposed to open in September 2007. The new Riu Vallarta is already open. We actually just got back from the Riu Las Americas in Cancun and it was absolutely beautiful!

Amanda, I have visited the Riu Ocho Rios. It is absolutely gorgeous. The hotel, grounds, and beaches are beautiful. It is a long drive from the airport, but our driver told us that the streets were going to get better. (We went in Dec 2005.) I believe the wedding package prices are on their website for Jamaica.

We will use the safe at the Riu Cabo. I have stayed at 4 of their resorts and we have never had any problems. We actually got engaged there so my FI locked up the engagement ring in the safe initially. I have heard of money missing on Trip Advisor but our experience was great and we did not have nay problems.

Welcome to the forum. Punta Cana is absolutely beautiful. My FI and I visited there last year and we stayed at the Riu Palace Punta Cana. The Macao is right there as well. You will absolutely love the beaches! I have never seen such powdery white sand.

We choose Cabo since it is close for most of our friends and family to travel to. I also like the weather there. We also got engaged in Cabo last September!

We have finally decided on the Riu Palace Cabo as well! I was in Cabo last September (where we got engaged) and actually spent some time talking with Adriana when I was there. I sent my date and time request in a week ago and have not received my confirmation yet. We are trying to get a reservation to have our ceremony on Dec 8th. We called last week but they told us it would take about a week. I am really anxious to start all the planning though. When I was there I did get some info. The price for a cocktail hour is $10 per person per hour for the bar and $9 - $13 per hour per person for the hor d'oeurves. They told me that they can copy pretty much any bouquet if given a picture, but it may be an extra charge depending on the flowers. We want to have our ceremony at the gazebo, cocktail hour in the space in between the gazebo and San Jose Restaurant, and then the reception and dinner in the San Jose restaurant. We will probably have about 70 guests. I look forward to sharing info with you all.

Thank you all so much. There is definitely TONS of helpful information on this forum. I love it! We got engaged in September 2006 at the Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas resort. It is a beautiful resort. We want to have our wedding at a resort with activities for everyone and the AI defintely do. We actually talked with the WC while we were there becuase we knew that we wanted to have a DW. I have a very busy job so I am just now getting time to start the planning process. I am going to figure out how to attach a pic of us from our engagement trip................. Well I tried twice but it said "invalid". It was not too big. Confused?? I will try again.

Got out of yoga an hour ago. I started yoga 6 weeks ago and the teacher I have is tough! Class is usually an hour and a half.

I am excited to be a part of this forum. My fiance and I recently got engaged in Cabo San Lucas. We have not picked a location for our destination wedding yet, but we have narrowed it down to Cabo and Playacar. We are thinking about November or December of this year.
