Welcome! I look into a Jamaica wedding for quite a while before changing to Cabo so if you need any info let me know.
  2. You poor thing! That sounds like a nightmare. Think you can hold it all in for 2 more months? Vent to us whenever you need to.

    Newbie!

Let us know if you need any help in planning!!
  4. That's what I though too - but all the soups in the book have a 1/4 cup serving size. I put the calories into the point counter on Janet's WW excel spreadsheet and it said 3.6 points for the 1/4 cup. Still high, but not as bad as what the book said. But I have to say this is really hearty stuff - I probably couldn't eat a whole cup.
  5. Cheese straws 1 c all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp coursely ground black pepper 1/8 tsp cayenne 5 tbsp cold butter - cut into pieces 1 c shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese 1/4 c shredded parmesean cheese 3-4 tbsp cold water 1. Preheat over to 375 F. Combine flour, pepper, cayenne in food processor. Add butter and pulse until mixture forms crumbs. Add cheddar and parmesean and water. Pulse until mix forms a ball. 2. Turn dough on lightly floured surface and roll into 9 inch square about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 3 x 1/2 inch strips. Makes 48. 3. Place on ungreased nonstick baking sheet. Bake about 15 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool. Serving: 2 straws Points: 2 per serving
  6. Here are some snack recipes. I haven't tried these so I can't testify to their taste - but they are worth a shot. I'm going to post them in separate posts so I don't get logged out. Hummus: 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas, rinsed and drained 1/2 c plain fat-free yogurt 2 tbsp lemon juice 3 garlic cloves, crushed 2 tsp olive oil 1 tbsp water 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp ground cumin 1/8 tsp pepper Blend all in food processor. Serving: 1/4 cup. Points per serving: 2 points
  7. Here is the beef barley soup recipe: 10 oz round steak cut into 1 inch cubes 1/2 cup pearl barley 5 c water 2 carrots - chopped 1 onion - chopped 2 celery stalks - chopped 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp fennel seeds (optional) 1/8 tsp pepper 1 cup thawed frozed baby lima beans 1 cup sliced mushrooms 1) Large saucepan, combine meat, barley, water; bring to boil. Skim off foam, then add carrots, onion, celery, salt, fennel seeds, pepper; bring back to boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered for 45 minutes 2) Stir in lima beans and mushrooms; cook covered until meat tender - about 15 minutes. Serving: 1/4 cup Per serving: 5 points

  11. I owe you guys an apology for not posting those recipes yet! I got swamped at work and had a baby shower and xmas party today. Tomorrow is a dedicated wedding day though so I'll post the recipes then for sure. Sorry!

Welcome! Feel free to ask about anything. When are you planning on getting married?
  13. Welcome!! Let us know if there is anything we can do to help!
  14. I recently had some of the same concerns as you about the price per room of Dreams but still decided to choose it. I figuered that for those guests on a tighter budget it would be easier to plan and save if they knew exactly how much all their room, food, and drinks would cost. Plus, Tammy made a good point when I talked to her about it: It keeps those guests with less $ from feeling that way bc they can eat/drink as much as other guests wo breaking the bank.
  15. I'll post the soup and any munchie snacks tonight when I get home from work. Sarah - you looking for sweet or savory?
  16. I think I'll be the taste-tester for the recipes in the cookbook. Tonight Brett made the Beef Barley soup from WW - it was good. Great when you want a hearty soup on a cold winter night - and not too hard to make!
  17. I'm super late the convo but I say #2 also. It'd be nice to have someone to talk with about what happened at the wedding besides your new husband. More people to share the memories. And the whole vacation thing is bonkers! Hopefully things will get better for him in January.
  18. I should have added this... and Too bad I'm so addicted to the site I was using my phone to check and couldn't make smilies fast enough. The site is like wedding crack.
  19. Thanks Sarah! Cascade terrace is the more private one, right?
  20. I can't believe she's so busy doing a great job for brides who have a wedding soon that she can't drop everything and email me who has over a year to plan. Jeez! She's rude. (please read a LOT of sarcasm into that one). Thanks girls - I'll just keep trying.
  21. I am go temporarily hijack this thread - sorry. I am emailed Maye twice about doing coordination - just day of - but haven't heard back from her. I know I read she's getting busy - but really, I just want to hire her! I only have her email from her website. Does anyone have any other email address for her? Did it take her awhile to get back to others?
  22. We finally got through all the drama and decided on 12/8/07 as our date at Dreams. I'm so relieved that's finally decided. I think we are going to do a site visit in Feb to pick all the event spots. What are the capacities on the different reception sites at Dreams?
  23. I started laughing when I saw the price she quoted me - crazy! I'm just going to use Dreams and hire a day of later down the road. Rebecca - I'd love to know about your lighting too. The FI actually noticed how great it looked in the pics and wants that lighting too. How many lanterns total did you have? Did you have to provide the lighting hookups for each so that the lanterns had a bulb? Do you know approximatly how many stramds of xmas lights were on the trees? I know they were left there for you but could you guesstimate?
  24. I have a Dreams wedding coordinator question. I have been emailing wedding coordintors about prices. Emlee from Baja Weddings said $6000 for full coordination. That seems totally crazy to me. Would most of you agree that with Dreams and their coordinator the most I would ever need if I got an additional outside person would be a day of coordinator?
  25. Wedding Favors, Bridal Shower Favors, Wedding Party Favors, Personalized Wedding Favors, Wedding Decorations If you click on "Silver" they are in there. They have boat shaped ones and also plain ones.
