  1. I'd love to do this...but guess I should wait until I figure out how many guests are coming. Maybe we could do round 2 in the summer. You are so so sweet to do this for us!
  2. You could always make the nice one a 1st anniversary present.
  3. I'm no help here...I'm letting my girls pick their own. J Crew always has nice simple dresses though.
  4. Welcome! I was totally a lurker on this site before I got engaged too. There was a period of time where I wasn't working and basically used that time to plan our wedding. My FI used to tease me that when we did finally get engaged I would make one call, say "Go Code Blue" and everything would be set. And that's basically what happened! Because of my "pre-searching" I had the place, photographer, DJ, videographer, and coordinator picked within 1 month of engagement. It helped SO much!!!
  5. Thanks everyone! I've got appointments at 2 more salons on the 20th and 21st. From there I'll either have a few more I like, or know the one I love now is the one for sure. I'm trying to get my mom to fly out in Feb so we can go to all 3 salons and look at any I've narrowed it down to. I'll need fresh eyes to check it out by then. Thanks for all the advice!
  6. Welcome!! Give us some facts about your wedding... - How many people? - Kids? - Do you want AI or no? - Married on the beach or elsewhere?
  7. I did kickboxing on Wed - was only a little sore. On Friday I had my first free personal trainer apptment. I haven't been able to use my arms since. I didn't realize how totally out of shape I was. Ugh. BUT...this is the beginning, it always sucks, and by December I'll be super fit.

    Maui Bride

How sweet are you?? Welcome and thanks! I'm a cabo bride, so no questions for you yet.

Monica is like washing dishes in the wedding dress. That's what I would be like. -Glenda Thanks! I'm loving the lace element - and the dress has enough structure to make it look like I have a waist. We'll see though. It's a new style so I don't have to worry about it being discontinued before I decide. And yes, if I got it I would be wearing it as we speak. I would have gone to Costco in it earlier too.

  12. Thanks all! I did try on the dress in the pic and it was my fav. I never thought I would look good in a dress like that - surprise! I wanted to like other ones more because they were more what I thought I wanted, but couldn't. I'm going to go on the 20th to my set appointment. I'm also going to make an appointment at a 3rd place too. I've got 11 months so I'm not in a rush - but I do want to get it done.
  13. I know it involves stamping, then sprinkling embossing powder on, then heating it with a heat gun. I tried it on holiday cards a few years ago. I only tried one and it went ok. I didn't have a lot of extra material to practice on so I opted out of it. I think with a little practice it's not hard. I have friends that do it for holiday cards and it looks great.

    Hey All

Welcome!! I'm a Cabo bride, but let me know if there is any way I can help. We are getting married 12/07 so we'll be on almost the same timeline.
  15. I just got back from my first real dress trying on session. I can't even talk because all I'm thinking about now are dresses. Is this normal There is one that is really standing out to me - like, I can't stop thinking about it. The thing is it is NOTHING like what I wanted - specifically, it's strapless. This is exhausting and I've only been to one place. I have another appointment on the 20th so I'm going to try to relax until then. Whew, I needed the vent.
  16. I'm so excited to work with you!!! Beautiful pics! Also love it bc I just tried on that dress she had on, but they only had a too small size so it was hard to tell what the top is supposed to look like. Way to kill 2 birds with one stone for me!!!

  18. Those are super cute! My only thoughts... #1) I just got done doing 60 boarding pass STDs which weren't that hard to do and was really happy to be done. Really factor in how much work each will require. #2) You mentioned you are a lawyer. So am I ... I know what control freaks we can be. If that doesn't apply to you then you can stop reading this. If it does then just think about giving power to others to make your cards. My FI offered to help and I said no thanks - mainly bc I knew that I'd only be satisfied if they were all done as I wanted and I didn't want to have to "check" his work. Just remember that not everyone cares as much about a perfect looking std as you might. Now that I'm done sounding like a totally crazy controling b!$ I'll stop and say I'm really happy I made the std's myself bc it really made this feel real to me.
  19. Welcome and congrars! How excited are you? Even if you don't have time to post details before you leave let us know how it went when you return.
  20. Welcome! What is your idea of a perfect wedding? Your requirements might help us/you figure out what place is best.

In the end, was it all worth it? Was it worth leaving some people out to have a destination wedding? Do you ever wish you had a "traditional" wedding?
  22. It's $60 for one - custom. But you should really look at the ones they have already done. I think you get 5 for $25 if you pick those. I only did custom bc coral is our theme and none of their pre-made ones had that. Sarah (Aquarider) used the pre-designed ones and they look awesome. There are a ton to choose from.

They are really fast and will change stuff a lot to get you what you want. And yes - send a formal invite for sure.
