Getting the Dress There

I just leave most of my stuff on hangers and use dry cleaner plastic bags fold it all in half and go. That way when I get to our destination I just pull all of our stuff out of the suitcase and hang it in the closet. Downy wrinkle release is always good too!!! -

We stayed at Cancun Palace (in 1999!!) and loved it! the rooms were nice and the service was great! If you guys get the chance to do any excursions we did this little two seat speed boat/snorkling tour, it was awesome! Except Mark wouldn't let me drive!!!

If you have a Jo Anns, check there, they always have a HUGE variety of $2.oo per yard fabric. The Walmart by my house always has a good selection too. If you don't want to sew, you can always use pinking shears, it would add a decrative touch, and by using them it prevents fraying!!!

Who's getting married in Vegas? (Post HERE!)

If you want just a chapel wedding I would say the "Little Church of the West" is a great choice. They have been around forever, and it's actually a historical monument! here is the link to their web site http://www.littlechurchlv.com/ It's not a cheesy las vegas chapel. Not that anything's wrong with cheesy chapels, but the Little Church of the West is on the strip and has nice landscape around it. Where as most of the other chapels are downtown with not so nice landscape. You would be able to get some nice pics at the little church of the west. It's also right across from the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign that is shown in movies and tv shows and stuff. (also right across from Mandalay Bay Hotel) If you're looiking for a place to get married and have a reception, let me know and I can fill you in on some great places for that too. If you're going to do that, give me an idea of your budget so I can send you in the right direction. If you have any questions, let me know! I would try and book something pretty quick if you have your mind set on that date cause all the good places will fill up quick! However, most of the chapels do probably 1-3 weddings an hour!!! (aren't you planning on 7-7-07?) Let me know if I can help you with anything! -

He said that the clouds were perfect for photographing because we didn't have to worry about the sun and shadows and stuff, he was right, they turned out better than I could have ever imagined!

I saw that advertised! I'm a huge acrylic fan, I do pink and white french manicures. however, I was wondering about using it on my toes!!!! So glad to hear about it from someone who has used it!

That sounds great! I'm all about doing things myself. If I were you... I would check out my local fabric store and see what kind of deal I could get on yards of fabric. Those would be easy to make, even if you can't sew. Before I learned how to sew, I can still only know how to sew a strait line, I used that stitching tape, fabric glue, and even sometimes my glue gun, depending on the fabric. The stitching tape is pretty easy to use. All you have to do is iron a crease in your fabric, open the crease, put the tape inside, close the crease, and iron.

Shell & flower table centerpiece
MARKSBRAT replied to TammyWright's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
that's sooooooo funny! I made something very similar to that for my unity candle to stand on!! I thought I was being original, dang it you just rained on my parade! haha : ) I bought a big bowl, turned it upside down, glued sand on it, then glued shells and starfish all over it! It turned out pretty awesome. It was pretty cheap too! I bought the bowl on sale at Jo Anns for $2, the sand was like $3, and I got the shells at the dollar store! -
An idea for reception flowers
MARKSBRAT replied to gkashmira's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I know that this doesn't have to do with flowers, but it does with centerpieces. For our first reception we (I) bought the little round bowls, with scalloped edges, from walmart for 97 cents. Then I bought strings of "pearls," the kind you get on a roll in the craft section, cut off about a foot or so and placed them in the bowl with some black rock and filled them with water. Then we bought black gold fish for 10 cents a piece and put 2 fish in each bowl and topped it off with a white floating candle. My wedding hall had round mirrors they let me use so we placed the bowls on top of the mirror and used and laid more of the pearls around the mirror. Each centerpiece only cost about 3 or 4 dollars. I know your guests can't exactly take them home, but we put a couple pinches of fish food in small "dime bags" from the tobacco store and tied cute sayings to them. I.e. "We know when you leave you might be in a rush, but please take the fish or they will be flushed!" We had a great response! It's also a great idea if you're planning a party to celebrate your wedding when you get back to your home town. My friend used the same idea later for her "celebrate our DW" reception except she didn't use the pearl or candles. We used cool blue marbles and used sand on the mirrors. Anyway, just an alternative ( a cheap one ) to flowers! -
Getting the Dress There
MARKSBRAT replied to NATASHA's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Well, there's pros and cons to both ideas, packing and carrying on. My girlfriend carried hers on the plane, but there was no room in the first class closet, so she had to put hers in the overhead compartment on top of everyones things. She said that carrying it through the airport was terrible as well. I called my airline ahead of time to try to make arrangements and they told me it depended on who ever was working the desk at the gate and the flight attendents. so if someone is having a bad day or the flight is full, you might get screwed. She (the airline person that I spoke to) actually got married in Mexico and she packed her dress. I actually packed mine and it was fine. The only con is that it could get lost somewhere along the way. I took the chance! To pack it... I left it in the dress bag and right before I went to the airport I laid the bottom of the dress bag into the suitcase leaving the top out. Next, I laid some other items of clothing on top of it. Then I folded the top half over the things in the suitcase and zipped it up. By placing things between the fold you avoid a crease. This is a great way to pack dresses, mens suits, or just about anything you would hang when you get to your destination. Another key is to keep each item of clothing seperated by plastic, like the plastic that covers your dry cleaning. I took my dress out as soon as I got to my resort and it didn't even need to be pressed. (Marks outfit was done the same way and his was fine as well) I know Dreams will press your dress and your FI suit for free when you get married there. -
Guest Attire?
MARKSBRAT replied to gkashmira's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
The "beachy chic" and "dressy resort attire" both sound great. I've been to a couple of beach weddings and really don't remember being told anything and noone was dressed inappropriately. However, I do recall getting questions about dress shorts with a "Tommy Bahama" type shirt. That's one thing that should be clear to guests. You might want to check some hotel or cruise ship web sites to read their dress code for their nicer resturaunts. They always have good wording when it comes to appropriate attire, especially for men. They're harder to dress at a beach resort! -
Eternity band pros & cons?
MARKSBRAT replied to MARIAELM's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I'm always interested in seeing jewelry!!! I'm a visual person so without a picture I have a hard time! As some of you know, this is Mark and my second wedding (to eachother) so this time around we picked our rings out together. I actually opted only for a so called engagement ring with no band... I went with an "all the way around" eternity band, my finger has been the same size for as long as I can remember, (at least 7 years) so I'm not too worried about it not fitting later. Worst case... I'd have to have the ring remade. Resizing isn't always the best thing to do anyway, so says my jeweler! My last ring had lots of "stuff" around the center stone and it took focus of the diamond itself. This time I wanted all of the focus to be on the diamond and not the band. Who knows, maybe one day I'll change my mind and add a band or something. -
so true!!! and most of the time they're all gross and sweaty!!!

We'll see what happens!! I somehow have a way of getting what I want, if I try hard enough! (if you know what I mean! haha) I think it would be a riot! We also talked about getting a party limo and doing the drive thru thing!
