  3. I finally spent some time to find a few casual dresses to wear around the resort. Here's what I ordered today... The first two are from Nordstrom, the second two from VS.
  4. What a PITA Tammy. This is why I'm glad I don't have a sister...
  5. I ended up going with a trio, because of the size of my group. I thought a mariachi band might be a little overwhelming for only 17 guests. They are going to play soft romantic music for the ceremony and upbeat music for the cocktail hour.
  6. Ann, we're planning to do 7pm. Most of our guests will already have been at the resort for 2 or 3 days, but we figured this would give everyone a chance to get to know eachother a little better before the wedding. Also, my dad doesn't arrive until the day of the welcome dinner and we wanted to be sure it was late enough for them to get in, settled, and relax a little before having to attend an event...

  8. Yay Ann- that must feel so good to get them done and out of the way! FI and his mom decided that there were about 20 more people that they wanted to receive my invites yesterday (even though I told them I was only going through the trouble to make them for those that were actually coming, and close family- NO MORE). But, alas, I gave in and ordered more supplies...arrrrghhh. They also are already planning the ahr- sorry to hijack your thread, this just reminided me of how frustrated i am!

We don't have a Lord & Taylor in Lansing so we'd have to come down your way...It may come to that though! We did go to several local stores and so far I think our favorite is at Macy's: Macy*s - Men's - Alfani Taupe Suit Separates It looks great on him and is $200 off right now. But, it's kinda a grayish taupe color which I guess I'm not sure about. I don't mind it, it's just not exactly what I had in mind. Now I think I need to order that JCrew suit just so we can see it and try it on...choices, choices...
  10. Happy Birthday Margaret! Hope you have a fabulous day!
  11. Hmmm....they do take returns in the stores so maybe I should just order and try it out! Thanks Tammy:)
  12. So we started out suit search today and JCrew was one of the stores we went to. Our stupid local JCrew doesn't carry the suits! How dumb is that? So now I'm debating whether or not to order it. The biggest thing is that Jeff really wants to try to get a light weight suit. It is amazing the difference in heaviness of suits that are out there- I never really noticed until today. So, if anyone has actually seen this suit in person, is it light or heavy?

I want to do it with a few of my wedding pictures for the at home reception center pieces. Did you say that you just printed on the tissue paper trimmed around the edge and then put it on the candle using an embossing heat gun? Is that all there is to it? They look great! Yes, kinda. Printing on the tissue paper is tricky. I found the easiest way is to figure out about what size your image will print and cut out a piece of tissue paper approx this size. Tape the tissue paper to a piece of regular white printer paper and send it through the printer that way. The tissue paper has to be taped on very smooth and fairly tight or the printer will rip it. After it's printed, let it dry a few minutes and then cut the image out, cutting very close to the edges of the image. I found two different ways to do it online. One way said just place the tissue on the candle and heat it with the heat gun. I didn't try this way. The other directions I found said to cut out a piece of wax paper and wrap that all the way around the candle so you can hold it tightly in the back and heat the image and the wax paper. The wax comes off the paper and covers the image and also melts into the candle. If you get any drips, have a scrap paper under you so you can quickly roll the candle to smooth out the drips. It was a little tricky at first, but by the time I did the second one I felt it was getting easier.
  14. The funny thing is that I have no intention of actually lighting these candles at the wedding. They are meant to be a favor that doubles as a placecard. I doubt anyone would actually burn them, they might not even take them home. After all, does anyone really want a candle with their name on it? But I just thought it was a different, cool idea that wouldn't bee too expensive or elaborate and would fit in with the DIY and color scheme requirements. After I made them, however, I am thinking that large ones with the picture printed on them would be really cool maybe under some hurricane glass to protect it from wind. I may look into this further...

I just realized I need to do a trial on that one too...here we go again!

Hehehehe... omg Christa I am soooooooo excited for you- you leave in 5 days, can you believe it's finally here?!!!
  17. Yeah, 3 days of burning about 8 hours a day. It has almost melted through to the design on one side, but the design just kinda crumbled in- no burning. I think I'm going to call it a go...I mean, what are the chances that anyone would burn it up this much anyway, and even if they did, so far so good.
  18. Well Angela, I'm on day 3 of burning this darn candle. It's burned down the middle about halfway down the candle. It looks awesome in the dark- totally like a luminaria. Now I think I want to make huge ones to use as my centerpieces... I'll update again when the candle burns to a more satisfactory level for me to determine that it won't burn people's houses down!

One of the nurses I work with (who is like 55, married with grandchildren, very wholesome motherly type) worked in a strip club for like 5 years when she was younger and loves to shock everyone and demonstrate her pole dancing techniques on a slow night at work...very interesting...lol Once again, I think you're a pretty cool chick.
  20. Yay! Lenita looks gorgeous and radiant and soo happy! Thanks for sharing Jill, pics look great:)
  21. Those look great Amy, and I think the other girls have already made great suggestions. I would definitely put and area for them to check yes or no and refer them to your website. Giving them a deadline also (hopefully!) will clue them in to the fact that they need to mail it back. From personal experience though, don't expect a huge response immediately from STD's. I don't think it changed much for my invitees. I already pretty much knew who was coming and who was not, the STD's just made it a little more official... Awesome job- those look great!
  22. I'm definitely interested Glenda. I just need a couple weeks to do some research and decide which watch I want. I'll get back to you... Sounds like a great deal!
