Here's what I did: I had my seamstress bag my dress for me in the bridal shop bag, put on my "BRIDE" tank top & my best smile and I had no problems what so ever. My dress was HUGE! They were not able to hang it, so they just laid it in an overhead bin all by itself. All of the flight attendants were awesome - they congratulated us multiple times coming & going. Just treat your dress as your carry on item & be super nice & smiley and everything will be fine! Ok, so I know that I shouldn't stress about this. But, I just wonder what would happen if they decided to be asses and not let me board with it- what would I do? I guess they'd just have to let me on or I'd have to buy a piece of carryon luggage at the airport! lol Ok, so I'll wear my "The Future Mrs Spr****" hoodie at the airport and call it good- great idea!
  2. Michigan has them- there are 2 in Lansing alone!
  3. Yay Melissa! Now THAT's what I'm talking about- thanks for posting so many pics! There are so many cool ones I don't know where to start- so many great ones on the beach, gorgeous romantic closeups, cute family pics, but my favorite is definitely when you are beaming as you walk back down the aisle. That picture is positively dripping with happiness! lol Congrats to you and your new hubby- you look soooo happy together!
  4. I just got my parasols and chinese lanterns from Asian Ideas... Chinese Wedding Umbrellas White Paper Lantern, White Paper Lanterns, White Chinese Paper Lantern, Round White Lanterns I bought 8 large parasols, 12-12" chinese lanterns and 12-18" chinese lanterns. The total came to just over a hundred dollars and included shipping. The parasols are soooo cool! They are 42 inches in diameter and are the dramatic size I was looking for. I'm having these handed out to my guests as they enter the ceremony area. I only planned for one per couple since they're so huge!
  5. I called Frontier Airlines to see if they would let me carry the dress on. They told me no. He said I either have to check it, or have it in a carryon bag. So, I guess it's the rolly bag for me!

When we were there in February for our site visit, Mega didn't have ANY flowers and Costco had kinda a sad selection. Their smaller bouquets of mixed florals were nice, but nothing you would use for a wedding- these were the best looking flowers out of all of them. Their roses were expensive (It seems like I remember $30 a dozen, I can't remember!) and they were wilted and not good quality. I'm sorry I didn't pay better attention to the price, but after looking at their flowers we decided it would be for emergencies only! Come to think of it though, we were there on Valentines day, so that could be why the roses were more expensive. Woohoo- Tammy we can probably take a couple hours some day to go do a little BDW scouting if you want! lol I ended up just deciding to pay through the nose for the Dreams flowers. I'm kinda running out of steam and this is one of those things I felt like I'd just let go. I'm paying for two large centerpieces to go in front of the gazebo- $150 each, with an additional cost of $38 each to rent the pillars they stand on. I'm paying $50 for petals to go in the aisle. My bouquet will be 24 red roses and the cost is $100. My bridesmaid's bouquet is half the size of mine and $50. We're getting the free bout for Jeff. Mariana gave me a quote of $50 each (4 total) for my drowned red rose centerpieces I want. We will move the centerpieces that go in front of the gazebo to the reception area so those will do double duty. We had debated doing the flowers ourselves, but I honestly do not want to have to stress about flower the day before or the day of the wedding.
  7. Natasha, all I can say is that everything looks phenomenal! I can't imagine how you could have done anything better- your dress, the location, the colors (you totally make me wish I was doing blues now!), the wedding party attire, your jewelry and hairpiece, ceremony setup- it's all perfect! Congratulations again and thanks for sharing your pictures with us.
  8. Ok, I started reading this thread and thought i was going to have to choke you- you're such a naughty tease! But, you redeemed yourself by posting some pictures in the end. I LOVE THEM! I totally love the picture of you grabbing his a$$- too funny. Your wonderful personality shines through even in your pictures Melissa- congratulations!
  9. Congratulations Melissa! It sounds like everything turned out really well. I'm so sorry about the blood draw incident- how horrible! I'm glad you got that out of the way early so you could enjoy yourself. Now I'm off to go look at your pics!
  10. Yay Glenda- I can't think of a better girl for the job!!!
  11. It's just a cheapo from Oriental Trading Company. They don't have them anymore, or I'd post a pic. It's a flat plastic zip-up container that you can put money or whatever you don't want to get wet at the beach. Then it rolls up and is on a lanyard. It's just a tacky something that people probably won't actually use, but it's cute and the idea is cool.
  12. My OOT bags are finally done and packed away... My bag is posted in another thread, but here's the pic: They contain: Welcome and Tnank you letter Wedding Day itinerary 1 Pashmina (thanks Glenda!) 1 Hand Sanitizer 1 First aid kit 1 Roll-up plastic beach safe 1 Deck flip-flop shaped playing cards 2 flip-flop shaped notepads 1 Seed Bead Pen 1 Fiesta Maraca Pen 1 Travel Dramamine (10 tabs) 2 2-pk Extra-Strength Tylenol 2 2-pk Immodium 1 Kleenex packet 1 Chapstick 1 Travel Coppertone Sport 2 Shout wipes individually wrapped 1 Rolaids 1 Spanish/English Dictionary (It's awesome and from the Dollar Store!!) 2 Custom Koozies (will post a pic when they arrive- still anxiously waiting for them!). They have the same design as the bag, but are silver metallic on red. The total cost for each of my bags is (gulp) $24.61. This includes everything, bag and all. I don't think I should have added this up! But, I only had 10 so I wanted them to be nice. We'll also buy some snacks and maracas when we get to Cabo, so they will end up being pretty close to $30 by the time all is said and done.
  13. Anny, those are AWESOME! I love the printed vellum, the embossed card and the envelopes. I'm doing the embossed paper for my programs and I have total sympathy (and awe) for you for doing these- it's a huge PITA, isn't it!? But, well worth it in the end. And, how cool that you get money for your bridal shower in mexico- maybe I should tell my guests that's what I want instead of a bunch of miscellaneous kitchen gadgets that I'll never use! lol I wish I could have made my bridal shower invites, but alas, my FMIL wouldn't hear of it- she said I'm doing too much already so my shower is officially hands-off! Anyway, girl- you rock! Those are the coolest shower invitations I've ever seen...maybe the best invitations in general!
  14. omg Christine I LOVE them! You look so amazing- you are such a beautiful girl! I know your fiance will be blown away- I'm so proud of you for doing this, especially by yourself...Girl you are damn HOT!
  15. Yay Jessalyn- that is a MUCH better price. You must be so relieved! When do you get it back?

  18. My alterations are only $120 to take in the top, add cups, hem the bottom, and bustle it. I was sooo excited when I got the estimate. The lady has great references too...We'll see!
  19. Then I officially pronounce Jeff the DIY King because it was his idea! lol, he said he wanted to contribute something. Except, he wants me to put "credits" on the bottom of the pictures because he took them- roflmao...

By the way Tammy, I love the hand ceremony- I might have to incorporate that too!
  21. I just had to share what I did with mine...they turned out so cute, and it was Jeff's idea not mine! I've spent about two weeks randomly looking around for cute paper to print these on, but just never found anything that I liked well enough to buy. Jeff had a great idea to use pictures that he took of El Arco in Cabo while we were there for our site visit last fall. I used my photofusion software to make them be just the really faint background for the paper and they turned out great. We used two different pictures that he took. These are going in our OOT bags.
  22. I'm actually paying for the WW online and not using it- isn't that terrible? lol I signed up in the fall and did great for awhile, but haven't been putting my info in- just kinda winging it on the principles...I really liked it though when I used it regularly.
  23. Great job Kate- 5 lbs is fantastic! Keep up the good work. Jill- at least you didn't gain! Now you can get back on track... Melissa, you and I need to get back on WW like we mean it- I've been a slacker too. Hopefully this month will be better!
  24. I drink at least 4-16 oz bottles a day, more when I'm working out, sometimes a little less if I have a really busy night at work. I agree with Susan- if I'm hungry I drink water first. Sometimes it takes the hunger away, sometimes not- but at least I filled up on something calorie free first!
