I cost $194...I think there were only like 4 things on the list that I HADN'T done. I'm bad.

Ooooh, I love I'm a Believe- leave that for your recessional...do this one for when you enter the reception! I used to LOVE DC Talk...I had all their albums. Too funny! I'll have to download some of their old music. I forgot about them until now!
-
oK. so it's been a long time since I've listened to any Christian music, but is this the old DC Talk frontman? omg, I had the biggest crush on him was I was like 13. Cute song, and a fun blast from the past for me! To answer your question, I think any of those times you suggested would be great...what about the recessional? Do you have a lot of guests?

Hey Lizzy! So glad to see you back online. You sound in good spirits and we're waiting to hear your GREAT report. I'm confident that with enough of us praying, sending positive thoughts, etc that everything will be fine. Maggie kindly updated us the other night, I was relieved to hear the procedure went well. VA hospital can be difficult- good for you for sticking up for yourself! Keep it up...you have to be an advocate for your own health because others might not! Take care and keep us posted...

Lets see how long Andrea lets me keep this Avatar?

omg...you two are so fun! -
I don't normally wear much makeup- just a little mascara, blush, and chapstick is my daily routine. I wanted to do something more for my wedding though, and was scared of having the resort do it! I went to the MAC counter and had them do a makeover, teach me how to use their products the right way, and bought everything (almost!) that she used on me. I spent almost $200. I took the makeup with me and wore it several times leading up to the wedding so I felt confident putting it on. I had the resort do a trial run of my hair and makeup, and my makeup was HIDEOUS! I mean AWFUL! I was soooo glad I had brought my own and knew how to use it. I didn't do dramatic by any means, but just wanted "me", but a little "better". I think for your wedding, even if you don't normally wear makeup, you should do a little something to bring out your eyes and enhance your most beautiful features. Almost everyone looks better in pictures with a little makeup.

I'm also a big fan of having it small and the people that really want to be there will be there. Will save me money in the end.. Oh yeah, I can't tell you how many times I heart that. Because Lake Michigan is SO MUCH like Cabo! Right! People are stupid...get used to it! We told everyone right from the get-go that we were having DW and it was not open for discussion. We told everyone, including our friends, that although we would love to have them there, we didn't want anyone to feel obligated to be there as all that really mattered to use was that Jeff & I were there- THAT'S IT! I think that kept people from booking just because they felt obligated. Granted, we ended up with a very small group (just 14) but it was perfect for us and I couldn't imagine it any other way. Jeff & I still talk about our wedding all the time and how beautiful it was. My DH is too cute...last night we were watching "MY Big Fat Fabulous Wedding" and after seeing what kind of wedding 2 million dollars would buy, my DH turned to me and said "You know what? That's all nice, but our wedding was so much more US, and so much more meaningful than that. I'm so glad we got married the way we did." Ahhh yes, DH & I are happy and that's ALL that matters! Keep your chin up and ignore the remarks. Once you get back, the people that went won't be able to stop thanking you for showing them how to have such a wonderful vacation, and the people that didn't go will be insanely jealous that they missed out on such a great time! -
With such a bold color, I would keep the complimenting colors simple, just my opinion. I like the idea of cream, but what about black? That and some splashes of red would be very dramatic...I can totally see your invites in black metallic with copper and maybe a little red somewhere- I think this would carry through to your wedding too. I think it just depends on whether you want soft or dramatic. If you want soft, I'd go for cream & perhaps the baby blue. If you want dramatic, I'd do black with red- you could still have either red bouquets or cream bouquets.

what should my mom wear?
Sarah replied to michelle08's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Fortunately with a DW, anything goes! I had to be a bridezilla and mandate that my entire group wear white and khaki (which thankfully, my group didn't seem to mind, but looking back I think it's kinda a tacky and control-freak request!). My mom has no sense of style (love her, but it's the truth) so I helped her pick out her dress. I literally went out and bought 10 dresses, had her try them on, let her keep 3 of them, and returned the rest. The one she wore for the wedding was ivory and very flattering, lightweight, and sparkly. MIL found her own dress- it was white and gorgeous. I really didn't stress about what they wore, I just told them to dress in LIGHT colors because it's so HOT! -
Congratulations girls!

Jenetta's JPMO wedding photos
Sarah replied to JPMO's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
Gorgeous Jenetta! You and your DH look so happy! I haven't looked at all of them yet, but so far #707 (I think- the really bright pic where you are laughing together) is my fave. Your dress is too cool! I love the pics of you detaching the bottom at the reception...beautiful decor too! -

I almost choked when the girl at the bridal shop told me how much my veil was...seriously, it was more than half what my dress cost! But, after I put it on I knew how much I loved it. If you found a perfect match I'd go for it...you'll know when you put on the right one, it's kinda like putting on "the dress"!

I had 2 rounds of alterations done to it to take it down to approx. a 6-8 (although with the way it laces up I think it would probably fit anwhere from 4-10 now, might be a touch loose as a 4). I was a street size 2-4 dress, 6-8 pants when I wore that dress. Confusing, I know.

My dress is off-white, with champage on the top, but I liked the look of the white better than the ivory.

I really didn't spend much on my dress, so I'm just going to keep it. I'd sell my TTD dress, except that it's hemmed to me barefoot- 5'1" and there's not too many people that are short & stubby like me! haha

lol, well, as it is Jeff who is forcing me to get rid of my misc. wedding stuff (I have terrible pack rat tendencies!) I'll ask him if he'll participate tonight...lol Thanks for bumping your thread Ann...it reminded me that I need to do this. I know I have other stuff I was going to get rid of...just need to go through the box tonight!
-
I really need to get rid of some of my miscellaneous wedding stuff! I'll probably post more later, but this is a start...I wasn't planning to sell this, but I figured I might as well have someone else wear it rather than let it get yellow in my closet! I purchased my gorgeous cathedral length veil at Bridal Gallery in Grand Rapids, custom ordered to go with my gown. The actual veil is cathedral length, and has a fingertip blusher. I had the cathedral part made detachable by velcro- very easy to handle. You can see the veil below in my sig, and here are a few pictures. The veil has a beautiful scalloped beaded edge through the whole thing. It is in excellent condition...the veil was worn for my ceremony and pictures, then the cathedral part was detached for our first dance. I then removed the veil and wore a hair flower for the rest of the reception, so I had it on for about 5 hours total. I paid $290 for this veil, I am asking $175 OBO, plus actual shipping costs. It's kinda hard to see in this pictures, but if you look, you can see the scalloped beaded edge extending past the train of my dress. If you have any questions, or if there is a specific picture you'd like to see of the veil (like not on me!) let me know and I'll try to get it for you.

Welcome Latoya! Don't worry...picking a location is one of the most stressful parts of planning a DW. It took my FI and I almost 5 months to make up our minds! I was a Dreams Cabo bride, so let me see if I can answer some of your questions... I answered in pink. Quote: Originally Posted by leharris5 Hello ladies! (don't like the thought of half naked onlookers at my wedding) The ceremony & reception areas are not private. However, as the beach is not swimmable, there are few bikini clad miscellaneous people around. They aren't in any of my photos, and although my ceremony was at the wedding gazebo, the people eating at the El Patio restaurant adjacent to my ceremony location were more than accomodating- quiet, respectful during the ceremony and all cheered loudly when it was done! I suppose this could be an issue, but it never was for us. Our reception was at the Oceana Terrace, which again, isn't private. We had minimal interruption during our reception, despite the fact that people would have to go severely out of their way to get to some of their rooms we had very very few (like 2-3 the whole night) walk through the reception area to get to their rooms. Most people went around the long way so as to not disturb us. There are very few places you will find that are totally "private" unless you go for somewhere private like Ann (akh- one of our mods) and a few others have gotten married like Las Caletas PV 2. What about Dreams having two weddings at the same time? As a bride would I be affected (location, attention from WC)? I was told that you can request to be the only wedding on a particular date. I did, and there was no one else. There are multiple places (but not a TON) for different ceremonies/receptions so you could theoretically not see the other bride. They also have more than one WC, so you might not have an issue with being affected that way- depending on the size of your wedding you might consider an outside WC. I did not have one and Mariana at Dreams took care of my wedding perfectly, but I only had 14 guests. 3. If not Dreams, what other resorts would you recommend that has a private location for a ceremony & reception (budget friendly)! Are you talking Cabo, or other locations? Another Cabo resort you might consider if Cabo Surf. Several of our brides have gotten married there. It's a smaller boutique-y hotel. Search for Janet, Natasha, and Christa's weddings on here...their's were beautiful! If you are thinking other locations, let us know where & we can help narrow it down for you. Thank you so much in advance for your help! You're welcome...happy planning! Latoya

Question for those brides that used Juan Carlos for photos
Sarah replied to NYJen's topic in Cabo Wedding Vendors
Welcome Dinner: Honestly, we got so many great snapshots from other guests at the Welcome Dinner that I really don't think it's necessary to have him there, especially if you're trying to stay within a budget. If you have unlimited funds, then a couple of hours would be more than enough. Wedding Day: We hired Juan for 4 hours, which wasn't quite enough and we kept him over an extra 1/2 hour. He was with the guys for only about 15 min. before the wedding, me about 30ish min., then the ceremony; then between group pics on the beach, and the photos of Jeff & I we spent about 2 hours. By the time we got to the reception, it was almost 8:00 (and his time over) so we extended him so he could shoot the first dances and cake cutting. We did both of these right after arriving at the reception, then he left and dinner started. I would think 6 hours on the wedding day would be more realistic. TTD: We had Juan for 2 hours, which I think was a perfect amount of time. We spent about 30 min riding the horses at Dreams, then drove to our TTD spot and finished the time there. I think we got some great shots in that amount of time. -
