  1. omg I seriously need to post pics of my house so people can help me decide on paint colors. We have a really open floor plan with cathedral ceilings, and it's a quad-level house. Basically, we can see every other room in the house from pretty much whatever room we're in, if that makes sense. You can even see into the bedroom (well, the wall and ceiling anyway) from the living room because it's a loft that looks over. From my couch where I sit in the living room right now, I can see the dining room, kitchen, entry (down a flight of stairs), family room (up a flight of stairs), spare bedroom & bathroom, and our bedroom (up another flight of stairs). SO....that's why my house isn't "done" yet. It's really not even decorated how I want. We want to redo the floors, but we'd have to do all new flooring throughout and we want hardwood- the budget dictates that we wait awhile on that. We don't want to do anything else until all our debt is paid off. Anyway, here is my living room- I love the layout, the fireplace and the huge ceiling...I want to change the color & the carpeting... That's a 12 foot Christmas tree. You can see the loft overlook of the bedroom. The fireplace is 3 stories. It starts in the basement living room and bedroom, continues up through the living room and is one wall of the kitchen, and continues up through our bedroom. There are fireplaces on the lower living room & main living room levels. So in this pic, the couch is to the right out of view, the dining room is to the left of the tree and the kitchen is behind the fireplace.
  2. That's great Carrie! Getting the photographer booked is as big as finding the location and picking the dress Feels good to check that one off the list!

Welcome! There's a ton of info in the Cabo section... do some searches or browse around. You can also try out vrbo.com
  4. Yup- he ended up standing up on DH's side in the end, but that was his title all along.
  5. My brother actually was my Man of honor.. .
  6. Welcome Shelley! I got married at Dreams, but have also stayed at the Riu... Dreams is awesome!
  7. Welcome Ann! I was a Dreams bride~ it was wonderful!
  8. Several people (including myself) have used Cards & Pockets for their pocketfold invites... Here's my thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t3566
  9. I love the pic with the Gerber daisies Leia!
  10. Great job Morgan- I need to start playing with Photoshop some more. I'm just too addicted to Lumapix to try something new. I might have a job to send your way- I'm going to be doing an album for a coworker and she has a mole she wants removed. I told her I'd find out what you'd charge... it's not going to be for a couple months though.
  11. Yeah, I'm always up for learning something new. It never hurts to have a broader range of experience in nursing- you never know where a job will lead you. I like the high-risk stuff too, so dealing with sick babies is kinda up my alley... and being in the nursery is always good birth control! lol
  12. Those are so pretty Trisha! Your BMs will love them

But, we still keep babies that need IV's, oxyhoods and other treatments- plus the nursery nurses attend all the deliveries in case babies need to be resuscitated- so I'm learning more "sick baby" skills like IV's, XRay interpretation, Phototherapy, etc... just more baby stuff. I'll still do Labor & Delivery- it's just that I can be a nursery nurse too. I really wanted to do it just to increase my skills and they offered to oriend me instead of hiring a new person because they really just need another "back-up" nursery person. Plus, I just took a weekend position, so I work mostly Fri, Sat & Monday nights now. I still pick up a lot of overtime throughout the week, but I get paid more per hour to work my normal weekend shifts. And since I'm on the weekends they need another nursery person for when the other nursery nurses take vacation. So now I do Triage, Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Nursery Nurse, and Charge Nurse- I can do everything on my unit now. Yay
  14. I have to work tonight Shelley. No holidays for me either Although I'm orienting to a new position which is kinda easy compared to what I usually do so it's not going to be too bad. Paula, sorry about your doggie. I hope he feels better soon. Erica- happy anniversary! Have fun at PF Changs- yummy!
  15. Here's an example of invites that we all kinda came up with as a collaborative effort for Morgan. I know she had these printed through Vistaprint and they turned out really cute. Here's the thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t12388
  16. I think it's a beautiful necklace, and I think it would look lovely with your dress. It's simple, so I don't think it would be "too much". Besides, your FI got it for you with the intention of you wearing it at your wedding and I just think that's about the sweetest thing in the world! I vote wear it.
  17. Like Angela said, it is very normal for a resort to have a limited menu for a private function. They aren't doing it to be mean, they're trying to provide better service for a concentrated group of people- having limited selections allows them to serve all the food to a large group in a timely fashion. I don't think you'd be pleased with the results if you had a full meny anyway. Just think, then you can have cute menu cards, etc! lol And about the adults only section, I personally wouldn't expect them to budge on that one, and, would you really want them to? Part of what you probably enjoy about that resort is it's ambience and fanciness and if they start breaking rules regarding things that contribute to the flow of their resort it wouldn't be as great of a place. Do I think you're being unreasonable? No. But, I also think the responses by the hotel are very normal and to be expected under the circumstances. Also, in terms of hotel communication- imagine how many brides they are dealing with, and how many questions brides that are getting married in like 2 weeks have. Most of the time, communication significantly improves the closer you get to your wedding. You will have time right now- other people coser to their weddings don't. And, you're getting married in Mexico- things just operate on a little different time scale. Getting used to that idea now will definitely help you be less stressed later Good luck!
  18. Get the veil. It looks amazing with your dress & I bet you'd regret it if you didn't.
  19. Thanks for the referral Tammy! Kristen, I will have monograms available on my website by the end of the weekend. I have several designs with palm trees. Have you thought about colors?
  20. I took a calligraphy class just so I could do my invites Now I use it for doing birthday cards, christmas cards, and sometimes bills just so I can practice. I also like the size 2 pen much better...
  21. Oh Paula~! You were breathtaking...everything was perfect. Your dress, your hair, the flowers, the BM dresses, everything coordinated beautifully! The colors in your pics are awesome- the orange dresses contrasted with the vivid blue of the ocean & sky. How wonderful! We've missed you...it's great to see how well it all came together for you! Congratulations!
