Karla, I sooo agree. Not only such PITA family and friends, but it's nice to know we're not alone in this entire venture. When I first thought about a DW, I knew it was something that was getting more popular, but it seemed kinda unattainable unless you had a super expensive coordinator. With all you girls, we can help eachother out so much. (Sentinmental tear ) I'm just so happy to have found this place- it's so supportive. Thanks!

    Hi Everyone!

Welcome Louisa! A friend of mine just went to a wedding in the Mayan Riviera and it was gorgeous! Good luck with the planning

    Heya!

Welcome! I'm sure you will find lots of great ideas on this board. The girls are very helpful

I'm just trying to stick to my guns (and fortunately Jeff agrees) that the DW is what we want and like it or not, that's what we're doing. I know people will get over it, and probably show up anyway- I just don't understand how people think they can have so much say over someone else's wedding! It is refreshing to hear that other people have had similar issues and it all came out ok in the end.

But seeing the you look soo beautiful in these, I have faith for some good wedding pics!! Thanks Kristina! I know I sound like a broken record, but Juan is just amazing. He makes you feel so comfortable and does such a great job. It was so funny because when we got our pictures from Juan, the one he placed inside the DVD case is of me in Black and White of just my face with my hair blowing across it (I love that pic by the way), but Jeff (FI) laughed and said that he didn't recognize me in it at first- he thought it was a model! Too funny

Jeff's sister is saying she won't be able to make it, and now his mom and sister are trying to talk us into having a wedding here (U.S.). WTF? (Sorry) I'm just venting- probably should move that to the venting thread

I know there are ways to get it fast if you have to, but I wouldn't save it until the last minute. I travelled to mexico last week using my birth certificate and driver's licence. I'd done it a couple times before- no big deal. Well, it turns into a HUGE deal when you lose your birth certificate in the airport!!! Talk about a nightmare! It's like 4:30am and our flight leaves at 6 and we don't have time to get home and back. Thankfully they told me I could travel using my voter registration card that by some miricle I happened to have in my wallet. However, when I got to Mexico, they weren't going to let me in. I had to convinve the guy that they let me on the plane in Detroit with the voter card and he made a big deal about it and asked me why I didn't have a passport yet, and chewed me up and down for traveling without my birth certificate, much less a passport. Anyway- the long and short of it is, I'll now be getting my passport ASAP!
  8. Are we supposed to add our own wedding dates into the calendar, or is that something you do Tammy?

It was getting dark before we knew it and we were scrambling trying to get our last photos in before we lost the light. I'm so glad I have experienced his work before the wedding- no stress there, I know they will be beautiful!

I booked him for 4 hours for the wedding, and am wishing I could budget more. We had him for an hour and a half for these photos and I really wish I would have done 2 hours or more, it was so much fun and he had so many great ideas- we just ran out of time.

I think the one with you guys sitting by the date in the sand would be cute! Thanks! I really like the date in the sand pic too. I liked your "just married" pic so much I asked Juan if I could do a sand pic too. The only thing I'm not sure about is that we ended up taking the picture at a different angle than how I had written te date out. I still love that one though!

I love the lighing on the wet rocks at the beach, and the pictures with the bright sun in the background that makes us look dark. By the way, we went by the Cabo Surf Hotel. It looks really cool- it will be beautiful for your ceremony. We decided on Dreams because of the AI value for some of our guests and I'm just stuck on getting married at the gazebo and can't get over it!

Tammy, you talk about being unphotogenic, and I totally disagree with you, but now after having Juan take my pics he totally works magic. Both Jeff & I usually take really bad pictures- smiles are wierd, eyes are closed, stupid looks on our faces, etc. But he managed to capture a ton of great smiles from both of us! He was so nice too, and patient while he worked with us to get the shot he wanted. Back to the STD question, we wanted to do something similar to what the other Sarah did, with the picture frames and STD cards. Now I'm just waiting for the parents to get back with me with their lists so I know how many I have to make. This is getting so exciting!
  14. Great info on the wedding websites! I am just getting ready to set one up and I have been debating a few of the sites mentioned- ewedding, wedding window, wedding announcer. It's hard to pay for something when the wedding announcer site is so nice, but I just don't know it I like the backgrounds as much as some of the sites you have to pay for. I'm leaning toward wedding window right now. I hope it's ok if I borrow some text from some of you girls- you have things so nicely worded, that it makes it hard to come up with something that sounds better. I'll let you know what I come up with!
  15. Welcome Lenita! The Moon Palace looks beautiful, we almost went there last year. You've definitely come to the right place for destination wedding help. There are many great ideas on this board. Congrats
  16. I don't have a close up of my ring, and I couldn't find the exact band on the Tacori website, but it's a Tacori platinum with 1.5ct round center and some pave and tooling on the sides.
  17. Hi girls! I posted my engagement pics taken by Juan onto Shutterfly. I put them all on there, so there are many that are similar- I haven't had time to weed through them yet. The address is: www.jeffreyandsarah.shutterfly.com
