  1. Welcome Jess and congratulations! Browse around a look at many of the places Tammy has posted to get married at. There are some great ideas here and if you have any specific questions, we'll try to help you out! There are lots brides/topics on here & many topics cross the board no matter where you're going so dig in!
  2. I know, and I'm bummed. I guess I have to keep looking. I would have to say that dress #1 is the closest to the "one", but I still don't know...Maybe the one I have is the one, I just need to realize it! I just feel like I need something with a little more excitement.

I think it looks wonderful on you though- I hope it looks that good on me!
  4. Thanks Natasha, it's another one that Juan took. There are so many to choose from I figured I should switch it up a bit!

You spend tons of $$ on a dress you'll never wear again- why not spend some money on something you might actually use again!

I'm so glad you're not going to be taller than Cain (or not too much taller!). When my dad married my stepmom she wore heels and they are the same height- she towered over him!

I like the second ones you posted. I'm deciding between these two. The higher the heel the better!!! Karla, they both are awesome! I vote for the first pair, just because they don't overpower the simplistic beauty of your dress. Although, the second pair are absolutely beautiful and would be wonderful too!
  9. lol, kinda thinking the same thing Christa. Hmmm...better start working on invites now!
  10. Thanks very much! Halfway through these I wanted to quit because they were so much work, but now that they're done I'm glad I stuck with it. I forgot- I'm putting our STD magnets in with the cards too. Also, the paper on the inside is a really pretty vellum with a silver shimmer to it. It kinda goes along with the silver frame and silver embossing, but you can't see it in the pics
  11. I did 55 total. There are only 30 frames because we are just sending those (along with the card) to the family and close friends. The other 25 are for coworkers, etc who we just want to receive a courtesy invitation since they hear us talking about it all the time!
  12. Thanks for taking the time to post this for those of us who are learning how to be a little more computer literate! Very Cool!

I already feel super lucky to have nearly a year!
  14. You're right Janet. I'm waiting to book a dj until some more of you girls get married and post reviews! Right now they all seem kinda scary, I guess I just need to know who's the least scariest!
  15. The palm tree is a stamp, and the silver writing under the palm tree in the picture frame is done with an embossing pen. I stamp the tree, write the words, then sprinkle embossing powder on all of it and apply the heat gun.
  16. Ok, my turn! I plan to enroll in WW online this weekend- right now just trying to get the STD's in the mail! 1) Lose, lose, lose! 2) Whatever it takes to do #1, I'll post after I sign up... 3) 25 lbs would be ideal, 15-20 is more realistic! 4) Definitely by my wedding 5-7-07, 7 months away. Sooo, I figure if I lose 3 lbs per month, I can do it!
  17. I finally have my STD's done! Now I just have to address and mail these babies and we'll be all set...whew! That was a lot of work! Here they are Here is the picture frame: Here is the front of the card: Here is a shot of the card when opened: Sorry the lighting isn't the greatest. It's a really gloomy day right now, so it's difficult to get a good shot with natural OR artificial lighting.
  18. TammyM- I like the last one you posted the best! Very unique
  19. MM- I love your FI's ring! That is very similar to what my FI and I have in mind for him!

I think sooo much of it has to do with your attitude and ability to "roll with the punches." There are always things that will come up that will disappoint or possibly inconvenience, but looking at those things as opportunity for adventure is what has always made Jeff & I have a great time on vacation. Of course there are times when you need to put your foot down- like when we checked into the Riu and our room wasn't even remotely ocean view unless you leaned over the balcony and craned your neck you could sorta see the ocean- we talked to the front desk and they moved us. But, instead of being accusatory, we took the approach that "there must be some mistake". One thing to warn people of at the Riu though, is that I was told that ALL their rooms are "ocean view." Well....I guess, if you don't mind leaning over the balcony for it! That would be the only thing I would caution you about at that place, but again, we talked to the manager and got moved- no problem at all. It's amazing what actually being nice to people will get you sometimes. Later, we heard people totally b**ching out the clerk at the desk about their room (they probably got the one we had!), and they were told that was their room and there was nothing that could be done. I don't know if maybe there were no more rooms to move them to, or if they simply were so nasty the clerk didn't want to help...
  21. I don't know if it's different in other parts of the country, but all the dress shops I've gone will not let you take pictures of the dresses, so I don't have any of me in it! Maybe David's does though, I'm hoping to get back there this weekend with the MIL for her opinion and we'll take some then (if they'll let me!).
  22. The second dress is fancier and a little poofier than the one I already have, but along the same lines. The first dress is dramatically different!
  23. Jackie, My FI and I felt the same way. We were trying to pick a place to get married at (pretty much between Dreams and Riu) and were very discouraged by what we read in Trip Advisor. Then we decided to go for our site visit and couldn't get into Dreams so we split our visit between the Presidente Intercontinental and Riu, both of which have horrible reviews. After staying at both of those places, we are convinced that the only people who post on there are they unhappy ones, and there are always going to be those people who won't be pleased by anything! The Presidente Intercontinental was absolutely wonderful and we would definitely go back. It was the most relaxing place we have ever been. The service was truly phenomenal and the people were wonderful. The food was nothing to write home about, but it wasn't TERRIBLE! The Riu was so much fun and it is a beautiful property, we had a wonderful time there as well. I'm sure people like my FI and I don't help the situation much- we had a wonderful time at two resorts last month, but we didn't post a review. It just goes to show that good news travels fast, but bad news travels faster! I really think the only people who post on there are the unhappy ones, so take those reviews with a grain of salt and rely more on people on this board who are "normal" people who will give you an honest opinion!
  24. Actually, I did not like either of those dresses in the pictures, but they looked great on me in person. I was worried that #1 was too heavy, but once I got it on, it actually moves really well. Dress #2 is so light and flowy, it just gives a totally different look. I guess the formality will make a large difference, as !1 is waaaay more formal than #2. (I don't know that I mind formal, though). Those were my two favorites from David's. We went to a boutiquey dress shop too and I found NOTHING! I think the woman helping me got it in her head that I was doing a destination wedding and kept presenting me with these very simple sheath dresses. I told her I was there because I already had a simple dress and was looking for something with a little more pizzaz. She pretty much just told me I couldn't wear a full skirt because of my height, shouldn't wear strapless because of my (not so small) arms and shouldn't wear something with detail on the bottom because is made me look short. That, in her opinion, left a simple sheath- not for me! Anyway, I have two more "fancier" dress shops to try to hit later this week. I'll keep ya posted, so far these are the two faves, and I'm pretty much tied between them.
