That's how my FI and I do things too. We decided to do a site visit in September to Cabo and booked it a week before we left. Although, I already have that first dress that i bought and I think I could justify using it. I'm thinking about emailing Juan and asking if he's available the next day after our wedding to do some "water pics." Quote: Originally Posted by Ryjaxs19 I just looked at the blog. It said on the blog that wedding weekends start at 3300 or 3700 something like that. I'm sure I would have to pay extra for traveling fee. I cant wait to hear back from them. I love the idea of trashing your dress, except that I'm too sentinmental. I don't think I could ever sell my dress, and I really don't think I could trash it! Buying another dress seems like the best option...
  2. We're planning to use the Oceana Terrace because we were told it is quieter and more private there. We will have around 30 people, I'm guessing.

Anyway just to give you a heads-up, her coordinators name is Lisa Galvin - sorry I do not have her link but I am sure Janet will post it... Happy planning. Marci Oooohhh I can't wait! That's just mean to tease us with Janet's wedding....lol
  4. We are still debating colors, but currently I am leaning toward trying to pull off the "white wedding" look. I have found invitations that i want to make in a shimmery white/ivory, I want white bag luminarias, and leaning toward white roses and orchids with beige table linens, with silver and black accents. Again, I'm still not sure what I want in terms of color, but we know we definitely want more "elegant" decor than "party". We may choose 1 accent color for the reception, probably red or green, if we do anything different.

Wow- that is another awesome deal! I guess I'll have to remember to call you or Kash next time I need a deal on something:)

  7. this was a concern of mine as well, especially with some of FI's wild friends. But, kinda like Tammy said- it's Mexico, so I'm sure they've seen it all!

They are like 2x3 inches, and I just tucked them inside my STD card. Most likely if you put them inside a regular card you could still get away with one stamp. I was sending out a big bundle of stuff and it cost about $4 each. I sent a card, a picture frame, and the magnet- see the link below: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.co...=Sarah+STD%27s Quote: Originally Posted by host one more thing..have you thought of getting your own monogram and putting that on the STD...sarah made a cute on from Creative Montage Here's the link to the thread with my monograms: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.co...ight=monograms By the way Tammy- I always go to her website to check out what she's making for other people and I saw your awesome monograms! They turned out great!
  9. I ended up with an awesome deal from VistaPrint and ended up with 100 magnets for like $40 and they arrived in 4 days even though I paid for standard shipping! It was very simple to upload our photo and add the text. I sent STD cards (there is a thread with pics of them under "Sarah C's STD's) with the magnets inside. I have gotten tons of compliments on my magnets and people have told me how convenient it is to have that on their fridge to remember our website. Of the magnets you posted, I like the heart in the sand the best.
  10. I currently have Juan hired for 4 hours, but I'm thinking about going longer.
  11. I like: T-shirts from a specific destination (things like Hard Rock Cafe, famous restaurants, travel locations, etc...Every time I travel somewhere I buy t-shirts) Size M books & reading knitting scrapbooking wild socks (I wear plain blue scrubs at work- this lets me still "express myself") candles (not floral smells) I don't like: knick knacks misc. bathroom stuff- soap, lotions (I have a graveyard of this stuff already)
  12. Sarah, I have only been to one wedding where there was no dancing. It was a mid-day outdoor wedding and the couple actually danced a "first dance" together, then that was it! It seemed very low-key and I felt like I kept waiting for something to happen that never did. However, it suited most of the crowd and nobody seemed to mind. That being said, let me state that just as I tell everyone else, it's your wedding (and a destination wedding no less!) which means you can do whatever YOU want. If you don't want to dance with your hubby, then don't! If that's not a place you want to spend your money, don't worry about it. If you want to know my personal opinion, I just can't picture a wedding without at least the opportunity to dance so I'm having dancing whether we end up with 5 or 50 guests. I think people will be a little less inhibited since a)it's Mexico! and b)free drinks in Mexico, so I think the small group we will have will still get their groove on! But, do what feels right to you... Edyta, my guests and I can always come crash your reception if you want...lol

I purposefully didn't buy any tonight, hoping you will win Christa- it's funny you say that because I tried my luck out with $10 worth of lottery tickets at the gas station the other day (I NEVER buy lottery tickets). Well, I didn't win anything so I guess my luck is only good here!
  14. I love the fire picture. I think that would be an awesome place to get married. Maybe a little hot though...lol
  15. I love your first pair of shoes Edyta- very cute. Christa, I love the idea of wearing a colored shoe. Now I just need to decide on a wedding color and I'll be all set!
  16. lol Thanks for posting Edyta. It really made me laugh
  17. Lala, you will be totally fine. You have tons of time! I started planning my May wedding in September. It's totally doable. We'll help you, just let us know what you need !
  18. Wow that looks like fun! You girls are just introducing me to so many places I want to visit
  19. I couldn't believe it when I saw this post Christa! Look what happens when I leave you girls alone for a couple days! What an awesome idea, and a great presentation! I think you need to change your avatar to:
  20. I have some of those tea light holders from Ikea and they are soo cute! I do think they would blow out without being in the bags- another awesome idea girls! Thanks
  21. Thanks for posting this Christa! I've wanted to do it, but wasn't sure what the best method was. This is such a cheap and easy decoration that looks awesome!
  22. Welcome Cindy! I felt very overwhelmed at first too. But, it depends on what type of wedding you want to have. I'm getting married at Dreams, and they have an awesome on-site coordinator, so with the help of this forum, I think I'm going to do it on my own using the hotel WC. There are other hotels (such as the Hilton, if you don't want an all-inclusive) that have great on-site coordinators. Good luck!

Yup, that's going to be mine. On the shoutbox today Christa and Tammy were wondering where everyone was, guessing that people were off of work today and therefore not online. I think I just realized that I am one of the few crazy people that is spending this much time on this forum from my own home, on my own time. I seriously get on here and like 3 hours go by before I know it. My housework is suffering...
  24. I mostly used my credit card because then I didn't have to worry about exchange rates and stuff. When we were in Cabo for a week we never exchanged any money, bought 90% of everything with a credit card, and what we paid US $ for, the price was actually marked in US$...
