There seems to be a common thread here...maybe I don't need to worry about these...

We decided to go ahead anyway knowing that it could be just us and our parents. It still might turn out that way- who knows! But, we are going to go and have a beautiful time anyway, no matter who is there.

I ran across the website for custom M&Ms last night and thought they would be really cute favors. http://www.mymms.com/customprint/ind...TI0612DTV11037 They're not cheap though...Does anyone have a source for these (or any other custom candy) that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Here are some other sites I've been to: Candy bar wrappers: http://www.customcandybars.com/wedding/ http://www.customcandybarwrapper.com/wedding.htm http://www.candywrapperstore.com/Wedding_s/3.htm (This one has lots of different cute stuff) Candy hearts: http://www.customhearts.com/customhearts/index.htm http://www.magicwandweddings.com/customcandyhearts.htm These are just a few of the websites I've looked at. Do any of you know of good candy sources?

I'm wondering what you girls are planning for favors. We don't want to spent a ton, since we're already planning to do OOT bags, but want to have something small at each person's seat. I like MariaElena's starfish magnets, and that might be something we could consider. I also was thinking about doing custom printed M&M's, (I'll post the link on a different thread for those that are interested) but they are a little pricey (about $20 a pound). I think I'd have to carry them on though so they didn't melt. So, what are you planning to do?

Make your own Luminarias!

Your presentation was much nicer than mine I will try on w/our logo when I get a new printer cartridge - cuz I know all the blues are done on ours! Actually, I think it's cheaper to buy a new printer - how rediculous is that? Yeah, I definitely learned that darker ink is better. The light ink just doesn't show up well. I tried doing the taupe ink that I wanted for mine and because my printer is psycho I ended up with purple- go figure. Actually, we kinda liked the purple, so I might experiment with some other colors. I went to Hobby Lobby this morning and bought a couple other kinds of vellum and some spray glue, so when I get a chance I'll try again and post the results. It probably won't be until Thursday though, since that's the only night I have off this week- they definitely look better in the dark. As far as my presentation- I'm such a dork! I had put plates and stuff on my table so I could decide if I liked the luminarias for the place settings, then I decided I should add some flowers and stuff. I can seriously get way to carried away... I can't wait to see your next attempt. I have to get a new printer cartridge too, and I definitely agree on the cost being the same as a printer. I have an old HP that has served me well for about 8 years. But, the ink for the damn thing costs as much as a new printer does! -

Make your own Luminarias!
Sarah replied to A10CalGal's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I just cut out the vellum and used double-stick tape to affix it directly on the bag- don't need to cut the bag, but make sure you are placing your paper on the side of the bag without the seam (I did one that way by mistake and the seam makes a dark line down the bag). They are just regular white lunch sacks. I cut about 4inches off mine. -

OK, here is the result of my first luminaria trial. Things I learned: 1) It is very difficult to use different letters, names, etc and get them centered on the bags. We are planning to use these for individual place settings for people, so all of them will be different. 2) Shorter is better. They looked sillier when they were the full size, trying to put the names on there so that they didn't look lost. However, we will use larger bags with OUR monogram on them for around the pool. 3) Along with Christa- I need new printer ink. I used a sparkly vellum that I LOVE, but unfortunately the color didn't turned out like I had planned because I'm just about out of ink. 4) Double-stick tape can be used in place of spray glue. I didn't have spray glue, so I used tape and I think they turned out fine. For the next set I try, however, I will buy the glue and see if I like it better. If you have any questions, or comments, please pass them along! Again, thanks Christa for the awesome idea and instructions! Here's the pics, sorry they're not the greatest. It was hard to capture the way they glow with or without the flash- so I used both. They look much better in person... -
Janet, your pics even though non pro are breathtaking. I cant believe how gorgeous you look- you seriously look like a model, girl! You are radiant. Congrats and enjoy your hubby!

Welcome to the forum! I agree with the other girls. You really need to decide on a location because pretty much everywhere you go will have the option of a church wedding with a beach reception.

I would just check the exchange rate before you go. Today the rate is $1 = 10.927 pesos. It generally stays between 10-11 pesos per dollar. Yup, like Christa said. I used my cc everywhere- at the mall, in the smaller rinky-dink kind of shops, pretty much all the stores we went to would take a credit card. In terms of exchange rate, I agree with Christa. Yay Janet!!! I am so happy to hear everything went well for you. I hope you enjoy your honeymoon and relax after all your hard work. I can't wait to hear all about it! Congratulations!!!

Make your own Luminarias!
Sarah replied to A10CalGal's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I hope my post didn't come off wrong- I think they look really good- I would definitely work on getting them more centered and i'm sure you'll end up with other vellum or different designs. I don't think they look sucky, just have room for improvement. I'm sure my first attempt will be very similar. I definitely agree that they should be shorter. I've been trying to think that through- probably I'll just cut a couple inches off the top. I think it's great to see that "real" people like us can actually do this! Thanks for posting them... -
Welcome to the forum! Happy planning, let us know how we can help!

Good first attempt Christa. I have a feeling these are going to be harder than they look. I bought white bags last night so as soon as I try it out, I'll post the results.. -

I actually sent an email out to all of our guests the other day explaining that I have to release our room block at the end of December & how I know it seems premature to make reservations, but it isn't really. And oh, by the way, please make sure you have a passport. I had my FI & MOH review it before I sent it to make sure I didn't sound desperate or pushy. I haven't heard back from anyone. WTF?? If it makes you feel any better Christa, we're in the same boat. Nobody has made reservations yet and nobody will commit to coming. We've just decided that we're not going to stress about it. The scary part is that we could end up with anywhere from like 15 to 50 at this point. We have tons of "maybe" people so I'm just not going to make any plans for anything that involves numbers for a few more months. I feel your pain girlfriend...
