  1. Wow Rebecca... I'm impressed, in awe, all of the above- and that takes alot! lol You've done an amazing job carrying your theme throughout your wedding, and everything looks fabulous. Those books are incredible! You've done an outstanding job. Your guests will be blown away
  2. Personally, I would be hurt. I guess only because it almost seems like they are choosing to support this other couple over you. Somehow I'm sure it has nothing to do with that, but it does come across that way. I hate people's BS excuses for why they can't come to a DW. Don't they understand that a simple no is just fine? Then you wouldn't have lost your deposit, and wouldn't have been planning on them. It does sound like the bigger issue is that the husband is running the show. My guess is that he didn't want to go to Jamaica anyway, and she thought she could convince him. Then , he probably didn't want to go to Florida either, but she was able to convince him to do at least that for her, because it would be easier and probably cheaper or at least similar cost. I know it bites, and I think it's totally natural to be offended in this case. But, I think if this is a friendship you'd like to salvage a heart-to-heart where you lay out your feelings and ask her to be honest is definitely in order.

  4. We've missed you! Have you posted pics of your house yet?
  5. Congratulations Shea! You're only like 2 weeks behind me We also want something a little "different" or at least something that they won't have 5 other kids in their class with the same name... Our current faves: Boy: Corbin, Jude, and Xander (short for Alexander) Girl: Annika, Norah, Lucy (short for Lucia) and Sylvia
  6. I didn't have an AHR, but if I had, I'd have worn my dress. Go for it Heidi- it's your day Well, your second day, but it's still your day!
  7. You're welcome! I think it's a pretty nice place too. That's why us mods are such sticklers for the rules
  8. It's already been mentioned Martha, but it's true- when something like this happens, it actually becomes a safer place to be because they're going to be EXTRA cautious about anything else like this happening. Poor babies...
  9. If you go to the front page of the forum, and scroll down almost all the way to the bottom it lists forum statistics. 10. When Tammy originally started this forum, she wasn't actually even a travel agent yet. She started it with a few other girls that she'd met on another forum that wanted a better, more informative place to discuss their destination weddings. There were only a handful of girls in the beginning- like 10 or so, but it quickly outgrew the old forum and branched out to be more than just Cabo. I think when I joined in summer '06 there were still only like 50ish members. It's amazing how much this has grown in 2 years!
  11. Have you tried the lottery yet?
  12. Great layout Jenn! I have to admit, I do like this design much better than some other ones I've seen Robin do. I can see why you'd want the changes you suggested, but it does look good as-is. As for the discussion about album upgrades, I'm guessing that this album is the 7.5x10.5 Zookbinders Photobook. It's a nice quality book, but the price for the large square (12x12) books are SUBSTANTIALLY more. The $350 upgrade is just covering her cost. Flush mount books are really expensive. Just an FYI for you girls that think your photographers are ripping you off. Most of these 10x10 square and larger sizes cost AT LEAST $400+ and that's just your photographers cost. Depending on the quality of the album it can even cost $800 and up... so really, a $350 upgrade isn't that ridiculous. My least expensive leather album is $500 for 10 pages.
  13. I didn't see your message before I started Maura, or I'd have let you practice your mod skills
  14. Beat you to it Maura! lol Here's the new link for you Angela :http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t24650
  15. I know you're trying to save $$, but I'd really recommend Dansko. They're not the cheapest shoes, but I'm on my 2nd work pair in 4 years, so they do last a while. I always get mine on ebay, and have usually found them for more than 40% off what I'd pay in the stores.
  16. Wowzers Amy! You and Andy looked fab You were gorgeous (as always) and your dress amazing. Your decor turned out great, and the reception looked awesome. If your snapshots look this good, I'm just drooling over the thought of your pro pics... congratulations!
  17. Here's a thread that should help you: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t11197 Being a member of this forum is a privilege and points take time to accrue. The reason downloads and attachments cost points is to encourage participation. There are lots of ways to get points other than to have people donate- which is nice, but definitely not something people should be trying to solicit

You are amazing! Well, you can always be like me: crafty AND a nurse! Although I'd rather be crafting than at the hospital... lol
  20. I've only been on one cruise, and it was 10 years ago so I don't know if my experience is even relevant. But, we went on Royal Caribbean on a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas. It was awesome! In fact, at the time, I remember wondering why anyone would want to just go to a regular resort when they could cruise for about the same money. The bummer part at the time was that alcohol wasn't included (I'm not sure how much that would really bother me now, but when I was younger I was a big drinker) and I think our bar tab for 4 days for 2 of us was nearly $500. But everything else: the food, the service, the ship in general, was awesome!
  21. I'm a Labor & Delivery nurse too... there are quite a few on here! I've been a nurse since 2005, and Labor & Delivery is what I've always done- I went to nursing school wanting to do L&D. I really love my job. It's very exciting and rewarding, and even when it's bad, you still have so much you can offer your patients. I am so honored to be involved in what is one of the most important moments in someone's life- the birth of their child. It's really an amazing thing. I think one of the best parts about nursing is the flexibility, and then opportunity for advancement, and new learning. I'm always doing something new. In addition to L&D I have cross trained to do Triage (like OB ER), Pospartum, Special Care Nursey, and charge nurse. So including those things and labor, that's at least 5 different areas of just labor & delivery nursing I could be doing any particular night. I'm never bored I also work 3 12 hour shifts a week, and hardly have to use vacation time unless I go somewhere for more than a week. The pay is great, and at my hospital we can work unlimited overtime, which definitely helps~ I usually work 48-60 hours a week.
  22. Congratulations Morgan! Your pics are gorgeous... I bet you're really happy you decided to get a good photographer You and Mike look so happy in all your pictures. Can't wait to see more and read your review. Oh, and hear your guests' reaction to all your DIY stuff...

  24. Yay Ann, I'm so glad you're home! I can't wait to hear all about the trip, but take time to get yourself settled in... I know you'll tell the story eventually And I'm soooooo relieved you're home!

That's quite a promotion- didn't you just get out of residency last year? You rock!
