Your Saving $$/Budget tips

My mom left my dad (for another WOMAN!- don't get me started) 3 weeks before my first wedding. That's not the worst part, it was my 16 year old brother that got basically abandoned because my dad was so distraught; and then my 12 year old sister that went with her and I haven't seen in 8 years. How can adults do such horrible things to their children? I'll never understand it...It's amazing my brother turned out to be such a great guy with such shi*ty teen years. This was 8 years ago, sorry- every once in a while I just have to vent it out! -
Where is your wedding at? Some hotels have alot to offer in terms of decor on site, others not so much. I'm getting married at Dreams and am not yet decided on my decor, but I'm sure I'll be bringing some stuff with me, possibly shipping some too, but not sure yet.

Kate- thanks so much for the snack recipes! How did you know that hummus is my favorite?! I can't wait to try, I'll let you know how they taste!

Have you thought about doing a wedding website? That way, you can send out your STD's now and have your website on them, which you will update as details become available. I sent mine out in October for my May 7th wedding. I wanted people to have as much notice as possible. I plan to send a couple newsletters out between now and the wedding to update people in a hard copy format, but I expect them to check the website for details. Side note: You will end up calling almost everyone anyway because people simply will not book rooms in a timely manner! So, when you're calling them they will have tons of questions that could be answered simply by them looking at your website. Just wanted to give you a heads up about the frustration we all are currently dealing with!

Wow Tammy, I'm really chiming in late here, but all I can say is WOW! I can't believe she's doing this to you... I think Kash has given great advice, and said pretty much what was on my mind. I also liked her suggestion of Cain appealing to his mom for the two of you to get along. I agree that she might be acting out because she's about to lose her baby boy- moms get crazy like that! Anyway, go talk to Cain tonight and see what he has to say, go workout and take some time to yourself and just go home and drink some wine, watch tv and stay out of her way for now. I'm sure it geels like you're a prisoner in your own home, but I think until you can confront her with Cain there, it might have to be that way... Hang in there girlfriend, we're pulling for you. Just think, only 2 more months...

Hey Jilly- I did great until Sunday, when FI & I went XMas shopping and had to stop off for a drink and some appetizers to get ourselves through! Then we ordered pizza when we got home. Considering the fact that I ate junk, drank alcohol, and THEN PIZZA, I went 5 points over my 35 flex points for the week- yikes! But, today I'm back to being good. I weigh in on Friday- we'll see how it goes:)

I voted no way- I'm keepin it forever! I'm such a sentimental sap- this is another reason why a designer dress isn't for me- there's no way I could sell it! I want to be able to have it hanging in my closet to try on in 10 years from now, and I will foolishly hang on to the hope that my daughter will someday want to wear it (hehe).

Their phone # is 01(624) 142-55-00, this is what is printed at the top of my receipt. I've never called Mexico before, so I'm not sure how to call this number. I'll deal with that in a couple months! We drove a Dodge Verna (never seen this type of car before in my life!) for 7 days for $92.75 USD. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Kash- I really debated buying the Priscilla of Boston #2902 online from these people, then I also have looked into the Scarlet too! I did a google search on their company name, here's what I found online (not much): This website:USA Bride Boards -> Online Shops " Anyone have any experience with online discount bridal shops such as Wedding Dresses at Discount Prices or PaylessBridalShop.com I've found 2 beautiful dresses and tried them on at a shop, but can get them much cheaper from the online shops. I'm just a little nervous about making such a big purchase online. Any thoughts?? Thanks! Amy621 Jul 12 2006, 08:27 AM Post #2 New Member Group: Members Posts: 1 Joined: 12-July 06 Member No.: 425 I don't know people ordered from the sites that you mentioned. But my cousine ordered hers from http://www.bridaldress4u.com . She gave the design (I guess it is a Monique Lhuillier) and those guys custom made one for her. I think the dress is beyond expectation and my cousine was very happy about it. It's now my turn and I may do the same after I confirmed the dress style. " It sounds like this is at least one happy customer... This is their return policy according to their website. It sounds like you could return it for a 50% restocking fee. So, is it worth the $350 gamble? That's the big question! "Return Policy Please read carefully as the return policy is strictly enforced on refunds. Wedding Dresses We will accept returns on new non-altered wedding dresses. Refund will only be issued for dresses in original shipped condition, unworn, unaltered, and with all packaging. No refund will be issued for custom size dresses (dresses made not according to our standard sizes) or special ordered dresses that are not offered at our store. We will accept returns on merchandise that is damaged or defective. All returns must be within 3 calendar days of when the shipment was dropped off from the carrier. You must notify us by email that you would like to return the dress and you must have a return authorization number from us before you return the dress. All returned dresses will have a 50% restocking fee applied from the full purchase price of the dress. In addition you will be responsible for any shipping fees, transaction fees and insurance fees. You have to ship the returned merchandise within 2 days after you have obtained a return authorization from us. All returns dresses must be received within 8 days of receipt of the authorization number. All merchandise must be returned in perfect brand new condition. Merchandise that is not returned in the condition it was sent will not be returnable and you will be obligated to the full purchase price. All returned packages must have a return authorization number stated outside the returned box. We do NOT accept returns on any merchandise besides wedding dresses." I still have debated either the PoB or ML dress from them. It's just sooo cheap, and it's the style of these two dresses that i love, not so much the designer name- that's not that important to me. I think that is something you really need to think about. Is it important to you that you are wearing a ML dress? Or is it that the style was that flattering on you? If it's just the style, then this knock-off might be just as nice on you. If it's the designer and the expense of the dress, I might not recommend you go the knock off route. Because you know the lace isn't going to be the same, some of the seaming will be different, etc.. Can't wait to hear what you decide!

Playing soccer does bad things to my feet - so I like to keep them in tip-top shape! hehe- I feel like you Ann. Although, I have to say that this wedding has totally increased the amount of pampering and attention to beauty! One thing I didn't think of earlier is that I am a religious Crest Whitestrips user. I know it's not much of a secret, but they work great for me. I also avoid cola and coffee to keep my teeth white. People comment on my teeth all the time, even patients who are perfect strangers. I think I have gotten about 10 nurses at work using them now...I should be getting a commission from Crest! I have used them for probably 5 years, once every 6 months or so and my teeth always look really white.

I am getting monthly microderm abrasions & facials and am always a Crest whitestrips user. People, including perfect strangers, comment on how white my teeth are all the time.

So, did we ever decide for sure what we're doing with this? 1. Are we revealing in the gift (by a card or simply a return address) who it is from? or not? 2. Are we opening them together (or as many of us as possible)? Maybe I just missed it along the way- just wanted to make sure I do it right!

Rosa! Let us know how we can help. How many guests are you having and when are you planning to get married? There's pics all over this forum of Dreams since alot of us are getting married there. Is there anything specific you wanted to know?

That looks really cool Karla. We'll have to check it out on our next site visit!

This was an idea from Raina, who got married last month. She said in her invitations she asked her guests to wear "Elegant summer attire in shades of white and khaki". Here's the thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t1449-3 I plan to put this in our invitations, and have it posted on our website already.

I depleted it after putting down the $4K hotel deposit & buying my dress a few months ago, but I'm already back up to $5K. This has worked really well for me. I highly reccomend ING for savings. They have the best rate out there, and it goes up every few months. I think it's at 4.3% right now - so I get at least $20 in interest each month. Christa- that is awesome! I wish I was that disciplined. I guess I should start now! -

The reason is because I'm usually good all week long and then over the weekend I use all my flex points so monday I'm also reatingin water lol. I'm 5'1" (barely) and my best weight is 105-110 because not only am I short, I also have a small frame. I haven't been there in 5 years, but I sure am gonna try! I think I will switch the weigh in to Thursday. That way I don't have to cheat halfway through the week to see what I "really" weigh after a few good days!

I wondered if that was you!!! Girl, those photos are so gorgeous- they turned out awesome!! We've been drooling over them since last night:) -
Great idea Edyta! This is really sad- I don't think I have any beauty secrets! I have recently started going for monthly microderm abrasions and facials and they have really improved my skin (along with my prescriptions for Retin-A and Benzaclin!). I now have one bad peely week, followed by three pretty good weeks. I'll have to think about this one...In the meantime, I'll steal all of your ideas!

I need to change my weigh in day! I always cheat and weight myself on Friday too because I always have my naughty day on Saturday, so I weight more on Monday. Anyway....weighed myself this morning... Drumroll please.... 128.4lbs! Woohooo!!!! I just had to actually type the number because i haven't seen the 120's in a looooooong time. That was my first "milestone" for me. Sorry- just had to share, I'm so excited! This brings me to a grand total of 9.5 pounds lost since I started the wedding diet in August. 20 more to go...
