Welcome to the forum! I'm a Dreams Cabo bride, you'll find so much info here! Happy planning:)

Wow- nice list! We need one like this for the Cabo group
-
I selected 2-5k since we have booked a local Cabo photographer for that amount. I agree with what many of the other girls have said in terms of their photography budget being important, but as a portion of the wedding, not the MOST important part of the wedding. I do have strong feelings about my photography because when the day is done, that is all you have left. When I started researching destination wedding sites, I also was looking at photographers at these locations. A large part of the reason why I chose my location was because of my photographer- I saw his website, fell in love with his work and wanted to have him. Yes, he is more expensive than some of the other local talent, and has raised his prices recently to be equal to other DW photographers, but he's a relatively new photographer and I'm glad I booked him before his prices went up! That is part of what attracted me to Cabo- a great photographer that I didn't have to pay to fly down! Thanks for joining our forum Jonathan, it's great to hear the perspective of vendors. It's too bad you're leaving Grand Rapids- I live in Lansing and it's always great to know of talented local photographers!

Wow- you girls all read my mind too! I say yay Jackie!!! So Tammy, if it's unanimous do we still have to vote? hehe

Welcome to the forum! I'm getting married at Dreams, but I've stayed at the Presidente and really enjoyed it. Happy planning!

I think these got deleted when Tammy did the big update a couple months ago. I'll try to re-upload sometime in the next couple days...

As long as it's cruched you may be okay. I think that will turn out beautifully! Are you intending to use tealights or votives? Jeff really wants to do real flowers, I'm worried about finding them. We thought about ordering from the wholesaler posted somewhere on this forum, but you have to order a ton! I'm undecided on the fabric for the runners, I like the velvet- but it's mostly the red color I'm most interested in. I definitely will do votives- I just didn't have any at home, so the tealights were just for demonstration. Quote: Originally Posted by Nrvsbride I like the second one best. You can get one at an arts and crafts store so that it looks flat on the table and if you pick out a really good one it won't look like felt material. -Glenda That's a good idea- I'll check into that! Maybe for our AHR if we do one...

I'm actually not getting married there, but we stayed there during our site visit. We enjoyed it! Good luck with your planning:)

So, I'm trying to decide on what to use for centerpieces. I went to Hobby Lobby today because they had Christmas stuff on sale and our colors are beige and white with accents of red. I found silver charger platters for $1.87 each, and silver and glass hurricane candleholder/vases for 75% off. I bought cream satin fabric and used a red runner I had at home. For the real thing, we will use the beige tablecovers Dreams provides, with a cream satin and red runner (not sure what material the red will be- velvet seemed a little heavy for Cabo!). So, here's some pictures of the "mock up" at home. Jeff thought I should put a dollar on the table for some scale, but with as messed up as my house is, I think there's enough junk around that you can tell how big they are! We were in the middle of wrapping presents when I decided I need to do this- seriously this wedding has caused me to get ADHD! The first two are of some different orchids, the last one is with a crazy glitter grass I found. It's probably a little too much, but I wanted to take one for fun. Here they are- please tolerate the fuzzy pics and the VERY rough draft of my future table decor!

I know it depends on the number of guests and all but I figured I would get an idea since I probably won't be able to do a site visit (I'm a lawyer, work is crazy). Also, which of the areas did you like best at Dreams? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Welcome to the forum! I've been on so rarely this week I think I missed your post! In response to your question about pricing, one thing you will find out as you start planning your Mexico wedding is that prices vary widely depending on who you ask and who you book through. Keep every email or quote you get from anyone- it might be different depending on the day! Also, prices are going up in Cabo really fast because of it's increase in popularity. Dreams is costing brides in '07 probably at least 25% more than brides in '06 paid. However, go through Tammy the host- she's arranging all my travel and got me a much better rate than my guests could find on any travel site (I'm talking hundreds cheaper for each guest!). I'm paying $22 per person for the ceremony set up (including coctail hour) and $22 per person for the reception (dinner, drinks, passed hors d'oerves). I do believe these are their standard prices for '07. Once you decide for sure on Cabo, start looking for your photographer. They book up very fast. I'm using Juan Carlos Tapia, as are many other on this board. There are several good photographers in Cabo, which you can find on this forum. Let me know if I can help any more- good luck!

Welcome Catherine! I'm a Cabo Dreams bride, so I'll share what my opinion is of Riu and Dreams because those were the two places I was primarily debating between. Some things to consider when deciding between these places are: ~How many guests will you have? Dreams is a smaller resort than the Riu, so it books up faster. ~What type of guests do you have? If you have alot of partiers, you may want to check out the Riu since it is so close to town, however Dreams is only like a 15 minute cab ride away. Riu is also much more of a party atmosphere, in my opinion, although Dreams is very fun too. The Riu is probably too far to walk to the bars and downtown too, we rented a car while we were there and always drove to town. During my site visit I stayed at the Riu and visited Dreams. We thought the Riu was tons of fun for a vacation, but there were a few too many totally wasted people running around all the time for us to consider it for a wedding. We wanted a quiter atmosphere. ~They are both all-inclusive resorts and although I haven't eaten at Dreams I've been told it was wonderful. I've of course eaten at the Riu while I stayed there and my FI both really liked their food too. There is so much info on this forum regarding these two places that i'm sure you can find out anything you want to know. Just search for Dreams or Riu in the search bar. If you have any specific questions, just ask because I'm sure someone will have the answer!

Very cute- thanks for sharing!

Probably most of you have seen this already, but if not, here is the Digital Short from SNL with Justin Timberlake last weekend. My FI thought this would be a wonderful Christmas gift, as I'm sure many guys would agree...
