  1. I totally agree that it seems high. I spoke to the resort directly though. Because the chapel was built on the resort property, they want to you to book rooms, as well as your reception there. Because I am having my reception at Casa Natalia, and am booking accommodations there, they said they charge a higher site fee. I also loved the chapel. I am not Catholic, so the big church was not feasible. I thought the chapel would be ideal for our small wedding, but I will not pay that much. I am now looking into a beach ceremony.
  2. This is the chapel at El Canto in San Jose del Cabo. I was quoted a $1600 site fee that was due by cash or check, if you weren't using the resort.
  3. Ok, I'm in. Did 1 and 1/2 hours of Bosu last night at the gym and am going in to do 1 hour of body sculpt and 1 hour of high/low tonight. I need to tone about 10 more pounds and have a year to do it. Unfortunately, I also have a box of Oreo Ice Cream Sandwiches calling my name from my freezer. If I can hold out on those, I will be in good shape for today. Also, I weigh myself once a week (at the gym) and today's the day....
  4. I am getting married in San Jose del Cabo, but did a lot of research on Punta Cana before deciding. It looks gorgeous there, and I here it has some of the best beaches in the Carribbean. Congratulations! Where did you plan to be married before?

    Hello!

Hello and Welcome. There is a post under vendors about someone that did a cruise and the pricing involved. I am looking into this as well. I've seen photos of the Sunset and it is so beautiful!
  6. I totally know what you are going through. I maintained a size 4-6 all the way through a few years ago. I became very unhappy at work and started using food as a way to console myself. Plus, I work extremely odd hours in the hospitality industry, and would pick up fast food or eat something processed on my way home at night which was usually around midnight. Slowly, but surely, I gained weight and found myself at a size 10-12 before I knew what was happening. My appearance made me even more depressed and I just couldn't find the heart to change my lifestyle. Last October, I moved to Madison and started a new job which i am very happy with. In December, I started working out for the first time in my life. I stopped eating fast food and started drinking only water, with an occasional glass of wine here and there as a treat to myself!! I also stopped eating large meals late at night. I started out working out 5 days a week. (3 days on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 1 day off) I won't lie. My muscles were in knots and i had to drag myself out of bed for the first few weeks! I have lost 32 pounds and am back down to the size I started at. I now have to work out only 2-3 times a week to maintain it. The girls advice is totally dead-on. Increase your exercise regiment. At the beginning, cardio is really important. Also, start eating non-processed foods. Raw foods are really good for you! I guess that I really don't believe in "dieting". Losing weight is a total lifestyle change. You just need to jump in both feet first.
  7. Even though my FI's family is pretty big, the family that I am close to is very limited. I didn't want the focus of my wedding to be trying to make rounds and having conversations with relatives like my great aunt Erma who I have only seen once in the last 10 years. I want my wedding to be about the union of two people who love each other and about sharing that with my closest friends and family on a vacation together. Plus, I think it is a great opportunity for all of us to get to know each other as a new family.
  8. Congratulations on booking your wedding!
  9. Wow, what beautiful photos! Here are my picks: 9, 31, 34, 51. I think you are absolutely ethreal in #34 and that is probably my favorite! Your photographer did a beautiful job. I love the capitol shots as well. How long did you shoot for?
  10. Thanks so much for the pointers. Is there a vendor list somewhere with florists and their locations?

    Hi Everyone!

Hi Louisa, I had two friends that honeymooned in Riviera Maya. They both loved it! Congratulations!
  12. Congratulations! I looked into the Dominican Republic before choosing Cabo. It's looks beautiful. Let us know the details of your planning and if we can be of any help!
  13. We are looking into Tahiti or Maui/ Kauai for our honeymoon.
  14. Awesome info. I am looking into a snorkel cruise. Did you contact them directly?
  15. Gorgeous pictures. I especially like the ones of the two of you coming out of the surf where you can see your footprints.
  16. Hello, Welcome to the board. Everyone is extremely helpful! My soon-to-be brother-in-law honeymooned at the Moon Palace, and absolutely loved it! I've seen so many gorgeous photos. Let us know if we can be of any help to you!
  17. I think that they quoted you a high buyout price, b/c they are trying to get you to book out the entire property. I run a highend restaurant in WI, and our prices are about the same for a buyout on a weekend night. The price reflects the the revenue they would have made if the restaurant was active that eventing, and the inconvenience for their hotel guests for not being able to use the property. All the politics can really be a damper!
  18. They have quoted me anywhere from $65 to $100 for 4 courses. This includes the wedding cake, but no alcohol. My FI is a chef, so the food is something that is really important to us. I know that he wants to have some imput with the menu. With a cocktail hour, I am thinking that we are going to end up spending between $120 and $165. I think that Natalie will work around any budget. She has been unbelievably accommodating. Have you booked your rehearsal dinner?
  19. Your pictures are so beautiful! How long did you book Juan for? Is he easy to work with? I just put down my deposit today!
  20. I have not been there, but I am SO excited to try the food! I have heard nothing but wonderful things!
  21. My FI and the boys are going to Vegas for his bachelor party. They go a few times a year. I am more worried about his friends making fools of themselves at the stripclub than I am him! LOL:) I trust Mike completely. The last time they went, one of his friends ran up a huge tab and then realized he left his wallet in the hotel.
  22. I just sent in the deposit for this resort for our wedding, and Nathalia has been so great to work with! She is so quick to respond. I really wanted an intimate place where my family could all stay together, but still have privacy. We looking into many different venues in Mexico and the Carribbean, and couldn't make a decision on any of them. Wewere watching Travel Cafe on the Travel Channel and they were doing a feature on Cabo. One of the slots was about Casa Natalia. My fiancee and I looked at each other and knew it was where we wanted to stay. We are booking out the entire resort for 4 nights, and are expecting between 25- 40 guests. Nathalia has told me that she will help out with finding accommodations if our number increases anymore. If you book out the whole resort, rooms are reduced to $200 a night for double occupancy. Mike and I are both in the restaurant industry and it was the restaurant on the property that closed the deal for us! We are also working with a coordinator Blanca to plan our beach ceremony. The only downside of this property is that it is not on the beach, but I am not worried! Casa Nathalia just feels right for us.
  23. Parents can be so difficult! I know that you don't want to beg anyone to come to your wedding that doesn't full heartedly want to be there, but is it possible for the two of you to find some time to sit down and talk about it. Maybe if he hears how important his precence is to you, he will change his mind. Your wedding will be beautiful, no matter who walks you! Hang in there!
