Is the photographer new? The reason I ask, is because your photographer should already have a contract for you to sign. Quote: Originally Posted by KimmyG Has anyone brought a videographer with them? So no exchange of money with the photographer himself? It's strange to me to pay it all upfront, wish there was a way to just pay the deposit, then the rest after the events. I did a free wedding give-a-way, last year and sent the client an email from my travel agent on what the travel costs were, they paid me that amount and then I sent it to the travel agent. The reason you can't pay them the remaining balance until after the wedding, is because usually the travel fees are due 45 days before the travel date, so they need those funds in order to pay for the remaining balance. I know it's a little scary for some of you to hand over thousands of dollars to someone you might not have met before, but if you get a contract from the photographer you should be protected. Just make sure you read it throughly. I had a destination wedding as well, and just had faith that it would work out in the end. :-)

  3. Hmmm, I'd say about 1/2 by guests used the fans, it happened to be hot but a little windy the day of the wedding, but when the wind wasn't blowing it helped with the heat.
  4. Congrats on finding a photographer, One big decision checked off your list. :-)

  11. I think it's totally fine to suggest certain poses or maybe even a cool edit that you seen done in other photos. Now if you give them a list of like 50 shots you want, then yeah I can see that taking the creativity away from the photographer, but honestly I love it when brides/grooms gives me suggestions, it gives me a feel of their style and that way I can gear their photos in that direction.
  12. Oh you'll love it there. I almost got married there, it's a great location and perfect if anyone in your family surfs.
  13. If your not figuring in Travel, then I think it's possible to find a photographer that fits that budget. Something to keep in mind when bringing your photographer with you, Most of the time the photographer will need to stay at the resort for 2-3 days, so along with the airfare for them and and assistant, they would need to cover the cost of the room charges (most of the time the photographer and assistant share a room) Of course having a photographer there for 2-3 days gives you so much more coverage then someone you might find locally. Best of luck, I'm sure it will work out in the end. :-)
  14. Hmm, have you thought about going to your local jewerly store and having a custom ring made for you? I had my wedding band done, and it's not as expensive as you might thing.

I' am not sure who your family friend is, but I hired Juan Carlos for our wedding and he is simply amazing. He is $$$. but if your budget allows for it, it's money well spent. I have my wedding slideshow below in my siggy, if you want to look at more of his work.
  18. I agree, if I were to suggest a time, I would suggest first thing in the morning with a different dress. I think after your ceremony, and photos you might run into a time crunch or maybe not want to leave your reception to do more photos. You can usually find a cheaper 2nd dress for the TTD session, wear your hair down and then just get ready once for the wedding.
  19. I' am so thrilled you love your photos. Ladies there are even hotter ones of both of them, however I wanted to keep their idenity concealed as much as possible on my blog. :-) But the both them totally rocked it out and looked amazing. It was so much fun hanging out with these ladies, I was trying to convince the both of them to go out to some clubs that night, since they were looking fabulous. Did you guys go out? I loved "T's" tattoo as well, if I had the courage to get one, I would get something like that.
