I didn't ask them. I TOLD them I was hiring musicians on my own. The only thing we HAD to use the Hilton for was food, alcohol, and cake - which is plenty. I'm sorry that the Westin is giving you a hard time. I might tell them, "Unless you can match the cheaper prices I can get elsewhere, I'm not going through you for music."

We thought Hilton was too expensive.

I agree, since my wedding is so close I am more of a priority to her right now. We decided to splurge and go to Las Ventanas for the spa treatments on Thursday, a few days before my wedding. They were much more responsive.

We're trying to decide on a hotel for after our wedding and want someplace in Cabo since we're staying in the Corridor during the wedding. PB Rose looks good online, just trying to find out more about it - thanks!

It figures that they want you to spend more money there. I'm sorry they tried to gouge you. I think it's great you're having your reception at Casa Natalia though. I've heard nothing but good things about it. I'm sure the beach ceremony will be beautiful!

Yes, I'm getting super excited now! I have to say that Emeline has gotten progressively more helpful and quicker on response times as the wedding approaches. I think (hope) that bodes well for us working together once I arrive...

I booked my hotel thru our hotel block at Hilton, but we're still looking for a honeymoon hotel for the last 4 nights of our stay.

After comparing at most company's official website, I found the best deals on Expedia. I found a Payless car for 10 days for about $105 with taxes. I'm going to jump on that! Because I'm a nerd, see the attached spreadsheet for my preliminary rental car research. CaboRentalCarResearch_01.xls CaboRentalCarResearch_01.xls

I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the tip!

I'm using Sergio Reyes. He was recommended by the Hilton. http://www.reyesphotographer.com/work.htm We're paying $350 for first hour, $297 for additional hours. This is what Emeline said about him: "I work a lot with Sergio Reyes, he has a lot of experience in wedding since he has been doing this job for more than 20 years and his father was a famous photographer of weddings here in Baja California." Below is an excerpt from questions I asked him: "I'm was checking the information of your wedding, it´s great you going to get married in a church, normally I only take pictures on the hotel, there are some beautiful spots around the church to take greats pictures, and after the ceremony if you like I could do some couples shots in the hotel and some family pictures, as follow I answer the question you made me. Do I get any prints? Yes I deliver to you all the pictures make prints in 4" x 6" size in matte finish in a leather album. If so, how many? Up to 600 pictures or maybe a little more. Do I get all of the CD's with picture? Yes Are they high resolution images? Yes Do you put together a wedding book? It´s not a wedding book, only a photographic album What type of equipment do you work with? I use I of the best equipment, a digital canon EOS 1D mark IIn 8.5 mp, professional lens and flash. Is your style traditional, artistic, photojournalists? some pictures are photojournalist style to capture the essence of the wedding, some traditional poses for the couples shots, and some funny shots."

Great review Sarah! The rental car and excursion details were especially helpful to me. I was leaning towards using Payless and am now going to book a rental car through them. Your pics were GREAT! I loved your dress and hair! You and your FI looked wonderful. I especially liked 71 & 74.

Post your "Must Have" wedding songs
MARIAELM replied to TammyWright's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
Aren't salsa lessonss fun? I love him, but my poor FI doesn't have much rhythm. Regarding the music, I'm buring the few songs I think the DJ won't know on a CD just in case. I figure it's better to be safe than sorry! -
Regarding shipping, I've been given the impression that DHL is the best option but it is very expensive and you still run the risk of items not arriving. Customs can be a pain. My Dad works for Federal Express. I had him explore that option, but the person he talked to in his office advised us not to risk it. I'm flying Continental and called the airline last week. See their baggage policies below. Regarding my 2 checked bags, I've resolved to pay for the extra weight and/or pay the $100 to bring another checked bag. Also, I'm asking some of my family and friends to carry items for me. Wrapped Packages Due to higher security levels at airports worldwide, gifts and packages are subject to the same inspection as your carry-on baggage. To reduce delays at the airport security checkpoint Continental recommends that you travel with your packages unwrapped. This will allow for easy inspection, if necessary. Carry-on Bag Continental will permit one bag plus one personal item (see below) per passenger to be carried on the aircraft. The maximum combined linear measurement (L + W + H) of the carry-on bag is 51 inches (130 cm). The maximum weight of the carry-on bag is 40 pounds (18 kg). Personal items In addition to the one carry-on item, you may bring free-of-charge the below items: ·one small personal article such as a briefcase, purse, day planner, small laptop computer, camera case, compact disk player or similar sized personal entertainment item ·personal aid devices such as wheelchairs, braces, canes, crutches, prosthetic devices and walking sticks, provided passenger is dependent on them. ·one infant article such as a collapsible stroller, a diaper bag or a government approved child seat. Economy Class Free Baggage Acceptance ·2 Checked Bags: Maximum 50 lbs (23 kg) and 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height) per piece. ·2 Boxes instead of two free checked bags: Maximum 50 lbs (23 kg) and 62 linear inches (157 cm) (total length + width + height) per piece Boxes are accepted on a voluntary separation and limited liability basis only (space available only, in good condition and labeled). Boxes are not accepted on Expressjet Airlines, Inc. dba Continental Express ExpressJet destinations to the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico. Continental Airlines shall not be liable for damage to boxes and their contents Bags in excess of 50lb (and under 70lb) = extra $25 charge Excess bags (3rd checked bag) = $100 per piece

So, the strong-arm technique and a message in Spanish finally worked with AVL systems (my DJ). Here's the messages (in Spanish & translated into English). (Hi MariaElena. Of course we have an agreement. Yes we have the songs you requested & Raul will be the DJ. I am at your service if you have any doubts. Thank you.) Me siento nerviosa. I believe we have an oral agreement for my wedding. I believe Raul is our specific DJ. Date: Saturday, October 28, 2006 Time: 7:30 - 10:30pm (3 hours) Location: Hilton Los Cabos Price: $200 per hour (USD) (Total = $600 USD) I have been coordinating with David Flores. I still haven't heard back from David in a few months. Can I be sure the DJ will show up on my wedding day? We still need to discuss my music preferences (see attachment). Do you have these songs? If I don't hear from someone by next week, should I hire a new (different) DJ? Also, I belong to an internet group called the Cabo Wedding Forum in the US for brides that will get married in Cabo. I would like to write a good recommendation for AVL Systems. There are many other brides that are looking for a DJ. thanks, MariaElena”
