  2. Here I am! So, my wedding at the Hilton is a month from tomorrow. I haven't been to the Hilton for a sight visit, any tastings, or anything. I've planned the whole thing by the seat of my pants. Emeline has been fine, but not overly helpful. I ended up doing most things on my own because it was cheaper and easier. She's been more helpful as the date has approached. I find that pictures and spreadsheets have made things easier and clearer between us. I've offically reached the stage where I can't sleep at night because I think of things I still have to do. It's all manageable, but I am a worrier / control freak... On 10/28/06: We're getting married at the San Jose Catholic church at 3:00PM. The mass will be in English. We're having a group called Dueto Amigo (harp, guitar, and vocals) play the music. Our photographer (hired thru Hilton) is Sergio Reyes. Sadly, Juan Carlos Tapia was already booked. We also booked the florist (Mundo Floral) through the Hilton. The Hilton reception starts at 6:30. We're having 52 guests. Cocktails are from 6:30 - 7:30pm in the Sunset Bar Terrace. We have an open domestic bar and a ceviche station will be set-up. We've hired Mariachis Los Cabos to play during this hour. A sit-down dinner (and dancing) will be served on the Whale Watching Terrace at 7:30pm. We've hired a DJ for this (AVL Systems that I am still not confident about). We will be serving pistachio crusted goat cheese salad with hibiscus dressing; a choice of fish of the day wrapped in potato string, mushrooms, and zuchinni in a cream citrus sauce or beef tenderloin filled with blue cheese and almonds served with baby vegetables; opera-flavoried cake (three types of chocolate) with buttercream icing; and a s'mores station / bonfire. I'll be sure to write a detailed review with pics after my wedding next month. Did I forget anything?
  3. See attachment for price list. Spa website http://www.lasventanas.com/spa.cfm Has anyone ever tried this spa? It seems decadent, but is it worth it? LasVentanasSpa_Prices_2006.pdf LasVentanasSpa_Prices_2006.pdf

  5. Senza salon prices are in pesos and include 10% tax. http://www.senza.com.mx/english/index.php 1 dollar = 11.103 pesos according to the currency calculator I checked. So, Senza's prices are not bad. Here's the price list . They just sent it to me. SenzaSalon_pricelist_eng mail 2006.pdf SenzaSalon_pricelist_eng mail 2006.pdf
  6. Well, we owe 80% of the entire bill by next Friday (09/29, 1 month before our wedding). We have a pretty firm number of guests right now. After 09/29 (1 month prior to event), the numbers canNOT decrease but we can add a few people last minute if necessary. Does that answer your question?
  7. Hi Jenesis! We're not getting married onsite, so I can't answer those questions. We're doing the legal thing in the US beforeheand and doing a church ceremony in Cabo. One thing I did was make Emeline insert an item that would allow us to use another venue onsite if we got rained out as a CYA maneuver. Regarding dessert, they can do mousses, pies, pastries, and the s'mores station (which we're doing). Maybe one of those items appeals to you?
  8. I know the room block thing can be frustrating. It is my understanding that you can pay the $1,000 location fee OR create a room block. If you reserve a block of rooms, you're responible for 90% of anticipated revenue. From the contract we signed (see attachment) "If the event is held, but the Hotel does not realize the total revenue anticipated from your room block, you agree to pay performance damages. The damages owed will be the amount necessary for the Hotel to receive no less than90% of the total anticipated room revenue" I hope this helps. In the end, only 10 of our 52 guests opted not to stay at the Hilton since our block prices were so good. 9. This is my engagement ring and future wedding band. Engagement = 1.5ct. Wedding band = .55ct. Both rings are platinum. I love how smooth the band is on my Ering. It never cuts or scrapes me.
  10. Ah, I love happy stories! He seems like a great guy. You're lucky to have each other!
  11. $5 for margaritas doesn't sound bad. As I said in my previous e-mail, I was disappointed that they were out of the question for my rehearsal, but really would like to try their food another time while I am there. Thanks for the tips! If you're not havign a ton of people (i.e. lke a rehearsal dinner with 10 people or something) than you could even just have everyone order off the menu because while they're not cheap by any means the prices are pretty reasonable. margaritas are only $5! (not bad for a fancy hotel!)
  12. We tried to book them for our rehearsal but because we had 50+ people they wanted us to buy out the restaurant for $10,000 USD, which I thought was ridiculous (see message below). We went with Damiana for our rehearsal. However, I still want to try the food at Casa Natalia for just my FI and I during our honeymoon and/or recommend it to our guests. "----Original Message Follows---- From: "Nathalie " <[email protected]> Subject: RE: WebSite Contact Date: Wed, 10 May 2006 17:19:42 -0600 Thank you so much for your interest in having your rehearsal dinner at mi Cocina. Regarding your group, we would request a minimum of 10,000 USD consumption for a group like your size, considering that you are using the restaurant only. Please let me know if you would consider the buy out of Mi Cocina and I would be more than happy to send you information on our menus. Thank you and look forward to hearing from you! Until then...saludos! Nathalie Tenoux Casa Natalia www.casanatalia.com" Quote: Originally Posted by LIZAGEHL They have quoted me anywhere from $65 to $100 for 4 courses. With a cocktail hour, I am thinking that we are going to end up spending between $120 and $165. I think that Natalie will work around any budget. She has been unbelievably accommodating. Have you booked your rehearsal dinner?
  13. So, I'm starting to think about the OOT bags and welcome letter for my guests. I bought canvas bags. My sister is ironing on the logo. I plan to buy water and snacks from costco when we arrive. I also bought little notepads shaped like tropical shirts (oriental trading company is great for little items like this). Now I need to start preparing the welcome letter. For those that did this, what kind of info did you include? Any good samples? Thanks!
  14. I haven't eaten there myself, but I've heard reviews from friends who were there a few years ago and loved it. I've also read a lot of good stuff about it online. We're having our rehearsal dinner there on Friday, 10/27/06. My FI and his family have been taking care of the details, so I don't know too much else.
  15. What are the prices like for dinner? Reasonable?
  16. i don't think it's weird to just wear the engagement ring. i think most people just want more jewelry or to receive something new on their wedding day. yes, an eternity ring has diamonds all the way around. i don't really know the difference between a wedding band and an anniversary band. i've read that a wedding band can be anything you want to buy and wear for your wedding. Is it unusual to just wear your engagement ring without a band? Does an eternity ring mean the diamonds go all the way around? Is there a difference between a wedding ring (band) and an anniversary ring! UGH! Can you tell I don't have sisters?
  17. your set is beautiful! good points about the cleaning and security issues - thanks. after all my research today, i guess i'm leaning away from the eternity band and only going for the half-eternity. more diamonds sounded good though... how did you get the image in the body of the message instead of an attachment?
  18. I'm trying to decide whether or not to get a diamond eternity band for my wedding ring. Anyone know of any good pros or cons? My engagment ring (see attached pic) is a half-eternity. Anyway, just looking for helpful feedback. Thanks!
  19. i hear that's the way it usually goes. more macho hype than anything else!
