  1. Great tip! I've actually used this bus system on prior trips to Cabo. It is probably the most economical way to get from San Jose to downtown Cabo. The bummer is that they stop running after 9 or 10 pm. So if you ride the bus downtown, start partying & say "forget the bus" you end up paying a $40 cab far back to San jose! Or you can make a quick friend and bum a ride
  2. Back to the original question...I was just remembering that I have been to a "shower" that was a couples shower. It was actually very cool, not very shower-y, but very much like a fun coctail party with presents. The gifts were very diverse. The couple registered at places like Home Depot and Lowe's for things they needed for their new house. So it was fun to give a card saying "I bought you 50 lbs of cow manure" (just kidding, that's not what I got, just thought it sounded funny!!) I've also been to a combo bachelor/bachelorette party - total disaster! Vegas + strippers + alcohol + 2 insecure engaged people + all of their closest friends =1 pissed bride, 1 grounded groom and 10 very uncomfortable (if not completely drunk) guests!

That's it! I'm not having a shower. I don't need to deal with this kind of weird stress. I know my MOH would invite all the girlfriends we have locally, and while I love them all, they just aren't really part of my life right now. Honestly, if I would have kept hanging out with them the way I was, I wouldn't be engaged I'm sure! I know they want to send me off in some fashion, which is great, but I don't want to feel bad that I didn't invite them. Which, of course, I am starting to do as we speak
  4. Janet - I think you should definitely go for a massage for him. And like Karla suggested, do a couples massage so you can show him what to do (remember the first time you got a massage?) BEWARE! I took my honey up to Napa Valley about 6 months ago for a little get away. I had previously tried to get him to see my regular massage therapist & he just never would. OK, so he stayed in the spa in Napa longer than I did after the massage! He was all in the men's locker room using the steam bath, the sauna, the whirlpool. He used all of the frilly spa products they put out (shampoo, lotion, etc). Now he's a total undercover spa enthusiast! What have I done? He can't wait for his next treatment (and that's what he actually calls them now!)
  5. Welcome Erin! What size wedding are you having? I definitely suggest you book your photog soon as they book up quickly.
  6. Welcome Jennifer! How exciting, your day is coming so soon. You are a great addition to this board - I don't think we have any body here that has or is planning to marry at the Finisterra. Re: shuttle services, I know Tammy has the Ixtchel shuttle info posted. I've also had great experiences with Grayline Los Cabos http://www.graylineloscabos.com/transportation.htm
  7. Great review Ylan, and phenomenal preview pics! You look fantastic!
  8. Hmmmm....showers. I have mixed feelings about these events. I've been to some really great ones & some really painful ones! I imagine my MOH will put one together for me, but we haven't really talked about it. I tend to feel like having ppl pay to travel to my wedding is more than enough of a gift...but I'm sure that some of the women that aren't coming will want to participate in a shower. Which brings me to my question...isn't it customary that invited wedding guests determine the shower guest list? I feel like that is a sticky situation for me. I have a lot of girlfriends that I still associate with from my pre-engagement days. They are not invited to the wedding. But I have a feeling they'll get invited to the shower. Faux paux?

I was thinking of doing this as well - orientaltrading.com has very good prices on all different types of chinese lanterns if you are looking.

Double sided tape may be necessary to hold the fabric down depending upon you centerpieces. Red and orange will be beautiful by the way!!! Jeanetta, I am so glad you are back to the board! You always have such awesome ideas & explain them in a totally understandable way. I am considering doing this now - and you may remember how anti-DIY I am. Thanks!
  12. Wendy - congrats! I am so glad things worked out in the long run -and glad you didn't let all of the mishaps get to you. I think your comment about bringing all email correspondence with you is key. Can't wait to see photos!

Welcome in! You've got lots of planning time ahead...I think that much time would make me nuts

  17. Holy crap! That's toilet paper? How in the world did they do that?? Do these women actually get married in these dresses? Inquiring minds want to know!
  18. We chose San Jose Del Cabo because I really wanted to get married on the beach & I love Cabo! My FI has never been, so he is super excited to spend our wedding there. A destination wedding is right for us for a few reasons: 1. it's non-traditional & we are SO non-traditional in nature! 2. This is his 2nd marriage, so something different is good. 3. We wanted to limit our guest list to close friends & important family...hopefully it works! 4. Our families are mostly in CA & AZ, so it's a nice geographical center point.
  19. I would like to do something symbolic like the sand ceremony...haven't really gotten into it yet. My FI has 2 sons that I would like to include in whatever we decide to do.
  20. Yee haw! That looks great! I love the idea of jumping into the ocean from your own bungalow. Damn, now I have the honeymoon bug...if you recall my FI is in charge of ours.
  21. Congrats Jackie & Sarah! I'm off to buy my lottery tickets
  22. What a great deal! I actually kind of like the first one - it looks very sophisticated. Although the palm tree fits better w/a DW.
  23. Wow MariaElena, this came up fast! I am so excited for you Have a fantastic time. With all of your organization I'm sure your day will go perfectly.
  24. Yummy flavor! And very pretty. I love what you are doing w/the gerbera daisies. I also love that your wedding is in t-minus 22 days & you just made this decision ... helps me realize that it's ok not to decide on these kind of things RIGHT NOW!
