  1. welcome1.gif Congrats on your engagement & planning your wedding in Cabo. We want details!!

Oh my gosh, I just realized you are in Morgan Hill! My FI & I are living in Salinas. TOESNTHESAND is in Santa Cruz.

    Tammy,
Most businesses (restaurants, marina vendors, shops) will accept credit cards. The good thing about using a CC is that your CC company charges you based on the official exchange rate on the day of your purchase. Also, you will find that most places list their prices in US dollars. I never felt like I had a problem any of the times I've been to cabo with being "ripped off" due to exchange rate manipulation. I would just check the exchange rate before you go. Today the rate is $1 = 10.927 pesos. It generally stays between 10-11 pesos per dollar.
  3. Jill,

This is your opportunity to decide how you want your wedding to go down. For us, if we got married at home, it would have been rediculous - probably 200. I simply did not want a wedding of that size, and I really just want to have close friends and family involved that contributed in some way to our relationship.

We chose a destination wedding for several reasons:

    1. We wanted an intimate fun way to get our families together in the same place for a weekend. My fam is in Cali and his is in Arizona - Cabo is a nice meeting point.

    2. We didn't want to have the obligatory invites - i.e. we didn't want strangers at our wedding.

    3. We wanted to get married on the beach.

    4. We wanted to do something non-traditional.

So my advice to you would be to sit down with your FI and talk about what kind of feel you want at your wedding. Then use that as your guide when deciding who to invite. I will say, once you start sliding down that slippery slope of inviting people out of guilt, it can get really out of control! We've had to check ourselves a couple times in this process. I hope this helps wink.gif

  4. Hey SuzyQ, welcome to the board. In Mexico you will definitely not have a problem finding a Catholic church to get married in. You did not mention your denomination, so I'm not sure if that helps you out.

And as far as being overwhelmed, we can all totally relate girl! I would seriously reccomend taking a chill pill for a while & just let the engagement sink in - take some time to enjoy it for a bit, if you can, before embarking on the planning process. I only offer this advice from experience.

I think that could work... this is where I could also put in a space to write in everyone's RSVP code...

I should email Maye now that I've made a decision to line up BC!

    Has anyone eaten there before?
Yes, check the Baja Cantina thread, someone just posted about having eaten there recently(can't remember who?).
  6. Kash - I vote for the more casual atmosphere of Baja Cantina (or something similar) for your RD. It will definitely give people a better atmosphere for getting to know eachother as opposed to a structured sit down dinner. That's pretty much why I chose to do the more casual format. I am also happy with being able to provide that cool beach side atmosphere with a taco bar & 2 hours of open bar for right around $2K for our anticipated 40 guests.

As far as notifying people...I posted it as an event on our website. I am working on invites this month and plan to put an insert in our invite regarding the rehearsal dinner. I think I will add a line to our RSVP card specifically for the RD. That's the plan anyway.

Yes Tammy, you should DEFINITELY look into using the vouchers since you have such a small group. I bet you can do it, just don't say anything about it being a wedding party.

Wow, you are on top of it girl! Good job.
  10. Welcome Amy! I am a Cabo bride and I am using Maye Cortinas as my coordinator. I have arranged a lot of the big details myself and am using Maye to arrange our rehearsal dinner, flowers & misc decor, musicians and provide day-of coordination.

    Edyta,
There is a daily lottery & a weekly lottery. To purchase lottery tickets, go to the vbPlazaMenu in the green bar above, click it & select Lottery. From there it will take you to a screen that offers you a choice of buying a daily or weekly lottery ticket. You should be able to figure it out from there. Daily tickets are 50 points & weekly tickets are 100 points.

Yes, definitely join in! We need to gang up on Sarah smile124.gif
  12. Thanks for the reminder Tammy! I was just preparing a note to all of our guests regarding booking their rooms if they plan to stay with us at Cabo Surf. I will include your blurb in the email. I can't believe how quickly this is coming up!
