  1. Marisa - what a fantastic find!!! Great job. Glenda - wow! You are doing a lot for your oot's. Well, ok, I just realized you have 1.5 years to work on all of this! Just pace yourself

How soon is too soon to send your invites out I know we have talked about this on other thread but just wondering when is the earliest anyone has done it? Christa's wedding is only 2 months away - I will die if I have to wait until May to send mine out.... Thanks Sarah. I felt like 2 months in advance was reasonable for me because I had sent STD's in June or July, so everybody was "in the know." I just felt like this was appropriate timing. Not to mention that many of the details I included in the invitation would not have even been thought of if I had done it any sooner (welcome dinner). Actually, I'm getting excited that a lot of people are now talking about coming that I never thought would. So, it should be fine. And definitely contact myself & Karla if you plan to do these pocket fold invites. I can only imagine how many more issues I would have had without Karla's advice. I've had some additional "learnings" that I would be happy to share with anyone considering doing this.
  3. Hi Lindsey, Definitely check out the thread Ann pointed you to...lots of photogs & info there. We are using Bradley Frasier for our wedding. He is a photojournalistic style photog, and that's exactly what we want. You have lots of choices of photogs in Cabo, as well as some that will travel for your wedding. My big piece of advice is book early!
  4. I know, it's against our female nature to be aggressive/pushy. You've got to do it though! She at least owes you an explanation for why she promised you something that she is reneging on. Perhaps if you approach it from this stand point: "Emeline, I am confused. My understanding is that back in October, you promised us 2 nights of complimentary lodging so we could come and do a menu tasting. Here is the email you sent me indicating the best time for us to use our free nights. Can you please clarify this situation for me? "
  5. Jen, Not that this will make you feel any better, but everything I have gotten quoted on has included the 10% tax & 15% service charge - I don't think that is unusual. Also, yes, talking to people about something & then having them not remember happens to most of us. That's why we should save all of our communications. I think you should push the issue with Emeline regarding your 2 nights - you have her promise in writing, she needs to honor it.
  6. Thanks ladies. Yes, I posted pics in the Show us your Invitations thread. Here it is again. I failed to take pics of the final finished product. I tied a sheer ribbon around the middle of the closed invitation - it looked really cool, like a little gift.
  7. Ummm, yeah, I'm pretty sure you can deploy those ninja's like yesterday! I've been made aware of some "family tension" on my FI's side that may compromise who's coming & who's not. Good lord, c'mon people, it's MY WEDDING!!!! My own mother finally booked her travel YESTERDAY! So, yeah, can you send out the ninjas??
  8. Hey ladies...I know I've been totally MIA. Between tax season, year end costs and, OH YEAH, I'M GETTING MARRIED IN 2 MONTHS, I've been very very busy. In any case, after may "learning experiences" with DIY invites, I finally got the bastards in the mail today. I celebrated with a martini & we're having fresh crab & artichokes for dinner (while every one enjoys this, this is my own personal celebratory dinner). Between adhesive issues, RSVP card issues and final touch issues, I have to say, I've learned A LOT and am ready for my next DIY project. In fact I am currently printing some table cards for my grandpa's major memorial/party tomorrow. Anyway, I just wanted to say HALLELUJA! or however you spell that.
  9. I love this idea! The only thing that you might want to think about, depending on your location, is the potential for those little no-seeum bugs in the sand at night...I know that is a major issue in the Caribbean.
  10. Definitely invite your grandma!! I really want my g-ma there cuz I know she would have a fantastic time meeting people & socializing. I'm sad that she probably won't make it, but I'm inviting her.
  11. The mariachi trio is going to do whatever the hell I want them to do Tammy!! Wow, I've had a long day apparently. You know, I'm just assuming they will do nice soft music pre-ceremony and traditional wedding tunes for the processional and then break into mariachi-ish tune for the recessional & cocktail hour. Clearly I haven't ironed this out, but I will. My feel is that these people aren't complete idiots. They are being hired for a wedding, my coord recomended them, so I'm going with it. I definitely plan to circle back w/Maye weeks before the ceremony to make sure my needs are clearly defined on this item. You should ask Maye what they can/will do. If I think of it, I will send her an email & update you when I hear back.
  12. We're doing a civil ceremony at the court house before we leave for Cabo. We actually have to travel to the next county, because our county doesn't do civil ceremonies apparently. Good thing I figured that one out...running out of time swiftly.
  13. I am not planning any extra decor for our cocktail hour. I mean, we're getting married on the beach at a beautiful resort that is well landscaped & has a beautiful pool/patio area. I think this is totally enough for me. Sorry not to be any help. I guess it depends on how involved or relaxed you want your wedding to be. Me, I'm going for relaxed.
  14. Wow, that is a lot of people to send invites to! I have far fewer than you & I did semi-DIY pocket fold invites. I got all of my supplies from cardsandpockets.com for less than $150. So, that's $5 per, but since I have such a small group, it was worth it.
  15. I voted for the baby doll. I just think it's very cute, and beachy & most likely flattering for you size 4 brides maids.
  16. I'm a MAC makeup lover. They seriously have a billion shades. Also, I've become a fan of Benefit products. Definitely go to these counters at your local department store & try em out.

  18. Happy day! Welcome to the forum. The good news is that you now have a whole network of inquiring minds to share your experience & pictures with after you get married!
  19. Cute idea! I love the word pashmina
  20. Quote: Originally Posted by TAMMYM Does the trio sing? I'm looking for soft music for before and during the ceremony and upbeat music after. FYI Tammy, I hired a Mariachi Trio thru Maye...might be an idea for you too?
  21. Yup, I'm THA CHAMPION OF THE LOTTO!!!!!
  22. Glenda, Go to this HBO/Sex&the City website HBO: Sex and the City: Episode Guide: Fashion Credits: Season 4: Episode 63 You'll have to figure out what season/episode it was, but they have all the fashion credits there!!!
  23. Well, I'm back too Tammy! Sorry. I just barely got here in time to buy my 10 tix. Too busy at work...hate boss (today anyway)...not time for BDW fun...grrrrr!!!!
  24. You are too funny girls. I'm on week 2 of doing bench dips, pushups, lunges & squats around the house in the morning. I really need to get back to my pilates - that works so well
