  1. I wanted to share that I signed up for both a Pilates & a Yoga class through the local community college. I had my first Pilates class on Thurs & yoga Sat morning. I absolutely loved both! I have not done a group excercise class in a few years, and now I remember why I love it - it's so motivating to be doing the same activity with a bunch of people. I highly recommend this for those of you interested in an intro to either Pilates or Yoga. I've done both at home with DVDs, but it was time for a change for me.
  2. I think Jamaica sounds like a great option for you then! I've stayed at Hedo III (not recommended for a wedding unless you are nudists!), Grand Lido Braco & RIU in Negril. There are so many options in Jamaica. I really like Negril because you get the best of the beach & nightlife situation there. The Caves is an amazing & more private spot that I love. Rockhouse is a great place too, and more affordable. A Couples resort would be another option - they have one in Negril & one in Montego Bay I believe. Are you looking to do an All inclusive resort or something more boutique-ish?
  3. Hi Kelley, Check out the Jamaica section, Jennifer got married there I believe. I think Jamaica would be a great destination for you since you are in Jersey - where are most of your guests located? For me, I chose Cabo for several reasons, but mainly because my family is all in California & FI's family is in Arizona, so it seemed like a good compromise in terms of travel time & cost. I love Jamaica though! I've been there 3 times & it's one of my favorite places in the world. I know you could do something really amazing there. Have you ever been?

The candle I used was weird because it had lines in it, so I would need to use a holder that was solid glass instead...but I think the stickers were pretty easy... Christine - those really look great!

  6. I don't think you've waited too long, especially if you are willing to send them a little later than planned. I mean, you not getting married for more than 4 months, so what's a few weeks? That just my opinion, but I didn't send my invites until the 2nd week of January - so approx 2 months before the wedding. May I ask why you feel like you need to send them so early?

I just want people to be there & have fun, I could really care less about the gift thing. Like I said, if its something you think I should have or want me to have, then great! I just hate telling people what they should get me...and the reality is that at 31 there isn't a whole lot that I "need" other than an affordable home to buy!
  8. My MOH has planned a shower for me next Saturday, which is great. I told her I didn't want the traditional boring BS shower that I HATE where you play stupid games and people give you punch bowls & stuff. She's done a great job in that regard: it's a cocktail party and the "games" are minimal. I made it very clear that I am not registering anywhere & if people want to give me gifts, I would just prefer it be something the WANT to give me. Well, now I'm getting all this pressure from people about why I haven't registered, blah, blah, blah. I just don't want to do this now! I'm I awful?
  9. Sarah - I just sent you 2 emails w/bar & menu pricing for Baja.
  10. Sarah! So you're posting back & forth with yourself now? HAHA...this is the map I would have told you to check out. I actually printed one of these out a few weeks ago & the bummer is that the text is really hard to read. Maybe there is a way around that, I don't know.
  11. I'm thinking it would be tough to get these into Mexico...or even on the airplane in the first place. Something to think about??
  12. I think those are great! And I love the idea of using real grapes so people can munch. I think using a mirror to set them on would look great & amplify the candlelight effect. Maybe you can go to garage sales & buy random silver platters &/or mirrors to use for this? They wouldn't all be the same obviously, but follow a theme. Overall - great job! You are way ahead of the game girl!!
  13. Don't forget about Baja Cantina Beach. I can forward you the menu & pricing if you like. I think this option would fit your budget a bit easier than some of the others.

Do I include ALL the info such as TA's, flight/airport info, etc. or do I wait to see whos coming and then send that out via email? I feel they need all that info to make the decision if they can/will come but I dont want to bombard them- I would highly reccomend getting together even a basic wedding page on weddingchannel.com or something and provide that info along with your invites. The beauty of the website is you can add & update info as it becomes relevant, valid or whatever. And since you are planning to send out invites in March (still 7 months before your wedding)...people will still have tons of timed to make decisions about time off, flights, accomodations etc. I think if you put too much effort into sending printed material w/the invitations you might end up having to revise the info w/people later. 7 months is a relatively long time...lots can change. Try to keep it easy on you
  15. Yeah, its kind of like a beach version of the unity candle ceremony - symbolizing the joining of families.
  16. Good job Sarah! Are you seeing results? Are you getting bikini ready or what?? I just received a Victorias secret order yesterday, containing 3 new bikinis among other things. I was feeling like I didn't even want to put them on, but I did & they are looking pretty good. I've definitely been skinnier & in better shape, but never as happy & content as I am now...the price we pay....
  17. Girls, I haven't been in on this thread simply cuz I'm too busy at work these days. I did want to share though...I get out & power walk at least 3 mornings per week 2 to 3 miles. I started a pilates class last night that is KILLER! I haven't done a group excercise class in a while & it was really fun. I am sore this morning - this is good. I start a yoga class on Saturday too.
  18. Jen - fantastic & thorough review. I especially appreciate the info regarding Mexican wine and your visits to La Paz & Todos Santos. Thanks!
  19. We are going to buy gerbera daisies in bunches & put together my bouquet & centerpieces. Something like:
  20. Congratulations! You have put many Las Caleta's brides-to-be into a frienzy here And probably put their minds at ease too.
  21. How sweet that you guys opened the RSVP's together, awww! Well, if we did crash your wedding, at least Rafael would realize that my "forum friends" are real people!!

I know, I"m so excited!! I am calling my seamstress next week to start alterations. EEK!!

Since you & I have the same dress, I'm glad you posted this. I felt like the dress had plenty of "ooomph" for me...it has like 3 layers of crinoline built in. I totally do not need more. I am also glad that there is a cotton skirt layer between me & the crinoline. I cannot imagine how much hotter your situation is going to be! You are so right though - it's the one day you get to look like a total diva/princess, so do whatever you need to do sista!!
