  1. Here's some info from LosCabosGuide.com: Puerta Vieja Restaurant and Bar The view from Puerta Vieja, just outside Cabo San Lucas, is the stuff of postcards. Sit at any table, either upstairs or down, and the liberal view takes your eyes to the bay and there it is… The Arch. The interior, with its cream-colored walls, windows forever, tiled floors, funky Mexican artifacts and rustic wood accents feels… romantic. The tables are spaced far apart, with lots of room to move, like you are on your own island. Perfect for dates! The menu hops between Mexican tastes and American flavors, but the focus is clearly on seafood. Lobster and shrimps can be paired with filets, t-bones, rib eyes and New Yorks. You may want to start with the lobster chowder, which is served in a rounded bread loaf. The specialty of the house more than defines “surf and turf,” with three lamb chops, three jumbo shrimp, and a lobster tail. The excellent service is “soft swarm style” in that you never know where the waiters are until they bring you just what you were thinking about. Puerta Vieja is also ideal for groups and events. A well-priced wine list adds to the appeal, along with live music Thursday to Sunday from 8 to 11 p.m., and a private dining room for 12 and an upper level bar and terrace for parties of up to 150 people. Dinner entrées from $21 to $30 U.S., with seating for 95 and groups up to 120. Open 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily. At Kilometer 6.3, next to Cabo Bello in the Tourist Corridor, for reservations, call (624) 104-3334.—B.F.
  2. Too funny Amy! So, you're sitting at home on your big booty being all sick? Bummer.

  4. Oh, yeah, definitely rather have a booty. My worst nightmare of a flat butt is Paris Hilton's!! By the way, how did this thread that started with a joke turn into a big-booty thread??!!

Yeah, I tried to use that tactic with my group...didn't work! yes, I'm using an TA, but since our guests are coming from California, Arizona & Texas, many of them are on their own in terms of finding decent airfare. Everytime I see a low fare (I am constantly trolling the net for these!) I email whomever it pertains to. At this point, I think it's just an RSVP problem. What cracks me up is that my FI's sisters, who have been married & know what this is like, still haven't sent their RSVP's although I know they are booked. HELLO, I need some numbers here people! OH well, I'm just going with it.
  6. Jessalyn, I have decided against wearing a veil. Instead, I will be wearing flowers in my hair. I tried a few veils on and I just really felt like they took away from my dress. So, I plan to wear a silk ivory rose or two in my hair - it will echo the roses sewn onto my dress.

Oh well, let celebrate what we have Haha, I just thought of this song I hear the other day. It goes "damn girl, how'd you fit all that ass in them jeans, girrrrl...."

Not too long ago I was in Vegas for a girls weekend & we were standing in line for a club (Rain I think) and some guy behind me got on his cell phone & told his friend he was standing behind "a fine white girl with a black girls bootie" - wow!!!
  9. Fantastic Leigh!! You have very good guests. As for me, my wedding is in less than 6 weeks & I still don't know exactly who is coming~! My FI's family is driving me crazy...I made him call them yesterday. SEND THE RSVP!!!! We sent out 40-ish STD's and invitations and at this point I think we will have approx 25 guests...but I budgeted for 45, so I'm good.
  10. OH MY GAWD!!! That is nuts! Myspace is such a weird thing. I am really appreciating it for the fact that I'm finding lots of my old school pals. I monitor my soon to be step-sons myspace & it's hilarious how relationships are made & broken as quickly as they can change their "status" from single to in a relationship or vice versa. Crazy!
  11. I was going to ask you the same question Christine! How weird to have students hitting on you! wow!
  12. A guy goes to the supermarket and notices a beautiful blond woman wave at him and say hello. He's rather taken aback, because he can't place where he knows her from. So he says, "Do you know me?" To which she replies, "I think you're the father of one of my kids." Now his mind travels back to the only time he has ever been unfaithful to his wife and says, "My God, are you the stripper from my bachelor party that I made love to on the pool table with all my buddies watching, while your partner whipped my butt with wet celery?" She looks into his eyes and calmly says, "No, I'm your son's math teacher." ***My mom sent this to me!!!
  13. I agree w/Tasha. there is really no need to sign ANYTHING while you are there. Regarding Maye, she really doesn't do a formal contract. She basically gives you a spreadsheet that details everything she is doing for you & prices it out. Once you decide to go with her, you will deposit 50% of her coordination fee.
  14. V Sattuie is really great if you are part of their wine club & can go down into the cellar & do tastings. Otherwise it is a complete madhouse w/tourists in my experience. We did a 3 day wine weekend package at the Silverado last May & it included a VIP tasting at V.Sattuie - seriously the only way to go....here's a pic of me in their cellar:
  15. Lisa - OMG!!! You are getting married in less than 2 weeks!!! How exciting. To answer the questions: 1. I don't think you can bring in your own bev. We are doing 4 hours of open bar for $41 pp + serving red & white wine at dinner. Like Tasha said, I think if you have a huge group you could definitely negotiate these things. 2. I am using CS for the cake. Like Janet, I am not overly excited about the cake. I've yet to decide which type we're having...but it's $6 pp. 3. I haven't yet delt w/trasport, as I don't know exactly who all is coming yet! Most of my guests are staying in Condo's right down the beach from the hotel. One or two couples are staying in downtown. I will probably do what Lisa is doing with Ixchel

  19. Sarah - I think I mentioned this elsewhere, but I'm getting a MARIACHI TRIO. I have about 25 ppl and was struggling over this as well. They will play the ceremony & cocktail hour. For the ceremony they will do low key processional music and then for the recessional break into mariachi madness. I feel like I'm getting the best of both worlds! The mariachi trio is $320/hour

It's difficult to turn a US check into cash in a foreign country. But, I like your certified idea

  22. Alisa, I'm using Maye too. I totally know what you mean, that's how I felt in the begining too. I'm actually getting ready to send Maye a check for our rehearsal dinner deposit. I just document everything, I send the check to her bank by mail address & I'm ok with it. I feel ok because several other ladies on this board have used her & not had a problem.

For me, I am making my best guess based on what I know. But, people are really unpredictable aren't they...I just would like people to fricking RSVP already so I know what I'm dealing with.
  24. Julie, Wow! What a great deal! OK, so my honest opinion...I think her work is decent to good. I tend toward the photojournalistic style, so I may have a more favorable opinion than other girls. I think that there are some stunning & not so stunning shots on her website. That said, I think the not so stunning shots were because of the location...wood paneling? Ewww! You are getting married in Cuba, right? I would imagine that is a difficult place to find photogs or to get photogs to travel to - American's have to circumvent the system by flying to Mexico first to get to Cuba last I checked. And, in Cuba you are going to have a stunning backdrop. I honestly think that was the only problem I had with some of the photos on her site - because on here we are used to seeing the ocean & the beach & such. I really don't know what your expectations are, but I think you could make this one work to your benefit!
  25. Ooooh! That was a question I had for you Janet...did you pay cash for your balance due to Cabo Surf - like cold hard cash? And your rehearsal dinner? I know CS offers 5% off if you pay cash, but I just wasn't sure if that meant greenbacks or check. And, yes, I sent an outline & spreadsheet to Armando regarding all of our details and he confirmed back with his own. Everything matched up, which is awesome! And he did waive the location fee even though we didn't book up all of our block.
