  1. Ugh, that sucks! I spent all of last weekend in bed sick too. What a waste. At least your man can pamper you all weekend.
  2. Awwww, she is such a doll! You guys are so awesome for doing the work you do...good kharma girl, good kharma!
  3. I think it actually looks quite nice on you...the top can be altered to fit you better. I can see the difference in the fabrics though - I see your point about that.
  4. Hmmmm...it's hard to tell from the pics you posted what it actually looks like. Is it the material that isn't working for you?

I have pretty much resolved this is going to be uber-stressful right up to the end...not that I have to like it. Yesterday I was like "yeah, ok, this is just how it's going to be...I get it universe. Thank you!" as I payed for a twelver of beer & a bottle of tequila that I then took home and had intensive therapy with

I ended up sending him a shorter version, but very stern and clear. I've been running around jumping through hoops to get stuff done that should have been requested of me way more than one week prior to closing. By the time he gets back from vaca he's going to have a long trail of emails in his inbox from me.... AHHH! Almost there...almost there.
  8. I had to dig this thread up. Do not read if you cannot handle vulgar language. Dear Mortgage Broker, How silly of me! With your excellent track record of superior communication and follow through for the last 3 months, I really believed that in the weeks leading up to the closing of my deal you would be here to manage things. You won my business because you understand my need for information and follow through. Starting mid last week I've been in the hands of a processor who has begun making requests that are nearly impossible to fulfill with 10 days to closing. I emailed you to ask for your involvment. I didn't hear back. I emailed you again & again - still nothing. I called you. I left messages. You never got back to me! So I called the builder to find out if they had heard from you. Yes, they had! They had been trying to reach you too! You are in Guate-fucking-mala! Really? I sincerely hope that you had to fly to Guatemala for your own mother fucking heart transplant, because that is truly the only reason I would find acceptable for you to leave the country without informing me. And then my favorite - you call me yesterday from some unknown number, so I don't answer. You leave a bull shit voice mail making it sound like you are on top of every thing & all is fine. ALL IS NOT FINE! There are 3 business days to close & the loan processor will not release documents to the Escrow officer & won't tell her why! You know why? Because she's waiting on a "VOD" from my bank. She submitted it via mail last Thursday. Hmmm...how exactly is that going to work out. FUCK YOU! Fuck you for leaving me, a first time home buyer, hanging like this. I am holding you personally responsible for the damages I incurr if this deal does not close on time. I hope you are having a shitty vacation & get a horrendous case of e-coli that rips your insides out.
  9. Holy shit Brittney! Your mom has been arrested for cocaine possesion?? That is insane. Does she have a history with this? Or is this a complete surprise? [nevermind - I just saw your response to a similar question] The budoir stuff I'm pretty sure you can get past - I mean it's just the clothes, right? I'm sorry you have this situation with your mom when you need her most.
  10. I didn't realize it was an intra-building move!! Ok, now I don't feel so stressed about what our move is going to look like. I was thinking "damn, she got everything unpacked & put away so quickly!" Who cares - good job anyway!!
  11. Oh wow! That's a great dress, I really like it....although I might like it a lot better if there was a pic of YOU in it!! Congrats on ticking off another major item.
  12. I forgot one thing...I saw this on Oprah I think & decided to try - physically unplug things from the wall when not in use. I can't talk the boys in my house into doing this, but I do it with things like the coffee grinder, coffee maker, hair appliances, chargers that aren't actually being used. I shit you not, we saved $20 on our most recent energy bill! I would really like to do this with the TV situation...we'll get there.
  13. Wow, great ideas ladies. Everyone is so resourceful. I definitely have room for improvement, but here's our list: -We cook dinner at home every night. We may go out to eat once a month maybe? -My husband packs his lunch every day - takes dinner left-overs I end up buying my lunch usually because we never have enough left-overs for both of us. However, I never spend more than $5 for lunch. -I make coffee at home - saves at least $4/day -I bring cereal or a PB&J for breakfast to work every morning. -Our new home has all energy star appliance, a tankless water heater and energy efficient light bulbs. -We do not have a land line at home. -I am strongly considering taking public transportation to work to save on gas $. -I definitely use the oven heating trick that Maria shared. -I auto-transfer at least $500/month from my checking to a ING Savings account. -I contribute the max to my IRA at work. I need all the tips I can get at this point, so keep em coming ladies!
  14. I worked with a therapist to get through some post-traumatic issues that caused me to involuntarily feel extreme fear and panic as a response to certain sounds. She used a therapy called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This may be something that could work for you too. Good luck! I totally understand how debilitating things like this can be - even if they sound insignificant to other people.
  15. Have you tried getting pricing on your own directly thru the resort?
  16. Hi Maura! Congrats on the new home! I can't believe how moved in things look already - good job. I love the lofty modern look! The kitchen looks awesome. And I swear you & I have the same exact appliances!
  17. Thanks Maria! I'm super excited about the kitchen...and I can't wait for Rafael to make our custom island. To answer your questions: -Cabinets are maple with a "mocha" glaze - they are from Armstrong. -Gas stove: mainly choosen for cooking quality/preference. I hate cooking on electric cook tops. I much prefer the control of gas. I have no idea whether this contributed to our energy star rating or not. -Additional info: all appliances are Kitchen Aid Energy Star appliances. The countertops are Cesarstone Engineered stone in a steel grey color (can't remember exaclty what it's called). The flooring is temporary - we will install hardwood floors, possibly bamboo, as one of our first DIY projects. The cost of hardwood as an upgrade was insane. -Other Energy Star choices we made: Tankless water heater - basically "on demand" hot water!! Energy Star rated high efficiency heating system. All light fixtures are fitted with the coil-y light bulbs. Increased the rating on our blown in insulation. I know there is more, but that's all I can think of at the moment
  18. Awww Jen...have the best time ever lady! It's all good, it's all smooth & it's all love and happiness!
  19. Wonderful news! Congratulations girly!!
  20. Ooops! I hate it when we think we're being tricky & clever like them & then they can't take it....

My man puts on the same goddamnn pair of sweats every day after work BEFORE I get home...so I see the same thing every day I get home!
  22. It snowed off & on all weekend. Today it was sunny for a while...then thunder, lightning & extremely large balls of ice falling from the sky, then snow. WHAT THE?
  23. Hehehe, definitely avoid Dramamine & less drowsy Dramamine where there is alcohol involved. A good friend of mine took 2 Dramamine prior to a sunset WINE TASTING cruise & passed the F out on the boat. Not good!
