Good morning ladies- After going back and forth on this forever, we have finally decided to give in and do 40 OOT bags. We are going to buy canvas ones and do an iron-on picture of the arch with some text we haven't decided on. They will include:welcome letter, a cigar, mini Don Julio tequila, mini-sunscreen, advil, bottle of water and a map of Cabo. Our hotel coordinator has agreed to deliver them to each room. Aaron told me his friends won't be caught dead "carrying a purse to the pool" but I think they will still enjoy the contents. For all of you who have already been through this, how did the boys react to yours? I am planning to go gender-neutral on the design, but if the boys don't want them anyway maybe I will girl them up!

How long have you and your husband / fiance been together?
JENGONDA9 replied to NABUMBAH's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Aaron and I met in October of 2002, but I was actually living with my ex at the time. We started dating in July of 2003 after I finally kicked my loser ex out. So by the time of our wedding it will be 3.5 wonderful years together! -
We have a similar situation as well. Even if we had listed them all, someone would have been upset about the order they were listed so we left the names out. We did a greeting card style invite that doubled as a save the date. Here's our wording: We're getting married! Together with our parents We invite you to join us in sunny Cabo San Lucas, Mexico On January 13, 2007 Please visit our website to RSVP and make travel arrangements by September 1st, 2006 at: www.aaronandjennifer.com A reception will follow in La Crosse, WI on February 17, 2007 Love, Jennifer and Aaron

I assumed that people would respect it but it's pretty widespread knowledge that they do not. How much time would you recommend? 2 months? Yes, I would definitely recommend 2 months. But you may want to also check on the terms of your roomblock because it may make a difference on when you set your RSVP.

Their manager Carlos is really helpful and is good with email. You can tell him Aaron and I referred you and he will treat you well! -
Welcome Bella! Another Cabo bride here. I hope we can help you find a perfect place. Happy planning!

Hi ladies- We had a terrible time with this as well. We are having an AHR so we started out by inviting about 110 of our 400 to Cabo and then we started getting phone calls from friends on the fringe who heard and wanted to come. They basically invited themselves which was totally annoying. In the end we invited about 150 and just sent out the extra invites as people approached us. THEN we started getting verbal RSVPs that indicated about 110 were going to show up and we started to freak out. But fortunately now that the time has come (and gone) for people to commit the $, many dropped off and we are ending up with about 70. I say about 70 because we are 8 weeks out and have 62 confirmed with plane tickets and still have 16 undecided - I figure half will come. One huge mistake we made was setting the RSVP date too early. We sent our invites 6 months in advance and made the RSVP 4 months in advance. We ended up extending it to 3 months and then 2 months. It is hard to make big financial decisions until you have a good estimate so this has been sooooo very frustrating. And top it off with an FI who refuses to call his friends and check in! Also for Christa, airlines have their cheapest fares either >6 months or <60 days so that time period in between is tough for people to commit to the fares. They will come back down as it gets closer. I've been to 2 DW's and one had 30 people and the other had 70. I would say that 70 is borderline unmanageable so I actually wish we had not been pushovers and kept it smaller. Good luck!

Hey Tammy- So I guess we were thinking we wouldn't want that many pics after sunset and that it would be too dark. Our sunset is at 5:55 and our reception is semi-outside. I was looking through the galleries to try to see what people's pics look like after dark and didn't see much. Any thoughts on this?

Good points Tammy. I would say it also depends on how much you trust your sis to take good pictures. I forgot to mention that Aaron's cousin is a professional wedding photographer here in WI with 20 years of experience so we are not really winging it. We trust her 100% to do a good job and would have just had her do the whole thing, but wanted her to be able to enjoy the ceremony and champagne toast before she goes "on duty".

Rehearsal/Welcome Dinner Dress
JENGONDA9 replied to A10CalGal's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Ann - did you end up checking out White chicago? I noticed that Elegant Bride magazine has an article this month about Chicago bridal shops. Another tip to save money is that if you are ever anywhere near Minnesota, they have no sales tax on wedding dresses. -
We are doing something kindof similar with Aaron's cousin. We paid $700 to have Manuel Burgoin for 2 hours and then his cousin is going to take over for the rest of the pics. It's not like they are going to be taking pictures constantly so they can still enjoy themselves, particularly if they have offered to do it. When is your wedding? I can let you how it goes for us in January if you'd like.

Gown dilemma
JENGONDA9 replied to JENGONDA9's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Kash- your questions crack me up. You must be super analytical like me You see the thing is that I definitely would still wear my original dress to the wedding in Cabo and then the new dress to my AHR in Wisco so I wouldn't sell the original. The new one is much more wintry and I might actually sell that one after the fact. Here is the link to the original, which I love equally! They are totally different. http://album.aufeminin.com/album/see...vias-2006.html And ummmm our budget from our parents is already completely blown so the affordability factor depends on your perspective. I guess it depends on whether we get any cash gifts otherwise I will have to shift some things around for a couple months. Not fun, but can be done. -

I love all these dresses ladies! Don't you all just wish you could wear fun dresses like this all the time? -
So I am in for my fitting on Saturday and everyone is ranting and raving over the dress the girl in the room next to me is trying on. I managed to break free of my seamstress to peek around the corner and fell in LOVE with this dress! Of course I already have a dress so I sweated it out until the girl left and made my mom grab it for me to try on. It fits like a glove and they offered to sell it to me for 25% off. What to do, what to do... IT is sooooooooooooooooo cute and fun and flirty with a little feather detail at the top and a great hemline. Can I possible justify a second dress for my AHR? After all it is going to be in Wisconsin in February... http://album.aufeminin.com/album/see...vias-2006.html

Hi - I love Puerta Vieja and the view is amazing. We are doing our welcome dinner there. I also really like La Fonda, which is a local favorite and very cute inside. It doesn't have a view, but has great food and atmosphere. Happy planning! -
Congratulations girl!
-
Wow Karla- I can only echo what the girls have said about your pic! YOu two look incredible! I am so jealous of your long hair, wish I could do an updo like that. I think the fabulous pictures are one of the best reasons to do a DW. Congratualtions and I look forward to your other pics

Hi Maria- If you go to www.loscabosguide.com and click on the discount section, there is all the info you need. And they are supposed to be legit althought I haven't used them myself. The bottom line is you pay 65 cents on thr dollar so you save a ton at certain restaurants.

Wow girl! YOu look radiant and it looks like everyone is having a great time too! This just makes me super excited and jealous! I can't wait

Wedding Dress Prices?
JENGONDA9 replied to gkashmira's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hey ladies- I tried on lots of designer sample gowns and found most of them to be tagged a size 10. Depending on the designer, that equates to somewhere between a 4 and an 8 in real sizes. Vera's were the smallest (size 8 samples equated to a real size 4). I am a very predictable size 4 in everything and most of the sample dresses were one size too big. Also, they are made for people who are at least 5'10 so they were longer in all areas (straps, torso, length). For some reason the non-designer gowns were always a size or two larger off the rack. Hope that helps you narrow down your search! Jen
