  1. Hi and welcome. I was married at the Cabo Surf in March - great choice! good luck with planning!
  2. I totally agree with Janet. Try to get everything nailed down before actually sending in your deposit. They are much more likely to negotiate for your business if they know that you can take your party elsewhere. I also used the cash discount on our total bill which helped a lot. I think it was 5-6% extra off of the total price. HTH!
  3. I used BVP. I just finally sat down and watched the raw footage the other night - they did a great job of capturing our day
  4. I think Janet is right. We (and our guests) got Promo rates.
  5. Hi, We were not able to negotiate any special deals as far as hotel stay, but we did pretty well on our F&B in my op. We paid the following (taken from an email) Quote: Hors'derves……………………………….…$16 (exchange the chicken wings/quesadilla for cold shrimp/cheese board) Fish Ceviche Guacamole, chips, salsa Sopes Taquitos Cold Shrimp Cheese Board Dinner………..…………………………….…$66 Caesar or Spinch salad or Tortilla soup Combo Filet/Lobster Chairs/Chair Covers………………………..$7 Domestic Bar (3 ½ hours)…………………$40 Wine- we know a winemaker in Napa Valley and would like to bring in a few bottles of our own wine; would this be possible? Cake- we are very particular about our cake; would it be possible to bring in our own cake? If you allow us to bring in our own wine/cake we are at a total price of $129/person for adults. Would it be possible to do the above mentioned wedding for $115/person? We would be extremely pleased to have everything we want for a price of $115/person. We estimate that our guests will be booking at least half of the hotel, if it is available, so you will surely make your money back in lodging. We had 135 guests. The hotel let us bring our own wine which saved us a lot of $ since the wine from the hotel is quite pricey. We got a deal from a winery in Sonoma and paid $6/bottle for Chardonnay and $8/bottle for Merlot. The wine was very, very good. I think we also ended up spending around $500 on our dessert spread that we did in lieu of cake. The bar was open all night - through dinner and everything. At the end of the night there was about $800 in charges from guests that ordered premium alcohol (we paid for domestic bar) but the hotel messed up on some small stuff, so they wrote off this charge. Oh, and we paid $10 pp for kids' meals. Looking back, I would have tried to negotiate a little more on the entree price. We offered fish and vegetarian which were clearly both cheaper choices than the surf & turf, but we didn't add those choices until the last minute. Oh, and they ended up renting white folding chairs instead of chair covers because our group was so large. I actually preferred the folding chairs, but just thought I would mention it in case you have your heart set on chair covers. HTH! Christa and Janet were also Cabo Surf brides so they can probably help you out too. But since my party was larger (as yours is expected to be) I thought I would let you know.
  6. It's only a 5 to 10 minute walk to the major bars in the area. A huge group of our guests went to a bar after Tabasco's. It worked out fine.
  7. my bm dresses were turquoise. they were very pretty IMO
  8. This may sound bad, but by my wedding day I was so SPENT that I only ended up tipping my hair & makeup people. I figured that we paid a fair amount for all of our other vendors, so I did not feel obligated to tip.
  9. I am pretty sure that you will need your membership card to go to Costco down there. They made my mom show hers to buy a soda outside. Do you have a family member traveling with you that has a costco card? Otherwise, you should just get one here. I think the membership is less than $50
  10. honestly, just go barefoot. I had gold leather jcrew flip-flops that I wore for the first part of the day but I ditched them after about 20 minutes and never put them back on. - you said that you're not a flip-flop fan so they prob. won't work for you. as for a veil, you can absolutely wear a veil without a tiara. I did. I had my hair up and just put the comb where my updo started toward the back of my head. But if you are wearing your hair down, you can anchor the comb in your hair by using a couple of bobby pins that are strategically placed. good luck!
  11. Per the etiquette books, you should not make mention of "adult celebration" or "adult reception" on your invitation. You should just address the invitation to the adults in the family, excluding the names of children. If you don't think that you can get the point across that the party is adults only by the above, you can put "adult celebration" or whatever on your invite. Another effective option that I have heard of is to hire an RSVP service. Your guests call the # on the response card rather than sending them in, and the person that you hire can give the guests all of the details of the party, including the fact that it is an adult-only affair. I have heard that this can be as cost effective as traditional response cards, which makes sense, especially considering that postage is $.41 now.
  12. Welcome! Good luck with your planning
  13. Hi Lori, here is my recommendation - dance to each song. You may find that some are longer than you're comfortable dancing to, and others may just not feel right. if you can't agree on one, my second suggestion is to do what we did and make your decision about an hour before you have to do the dance on the day of

But now I'm wondering if the Cabo Surf Hotel would work. Any info you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks! Christa already posted a link to my review, but I'll chime in anyway. I was married there the weekend after Christa was. I can't recommend this resort enough. The hotel allows you to reserve all rooms. We had approx 135 guests at our wedding, so obviously with only 22ish rooms it wasn't possible for everyone to stay on premises, but it worked out great. I think that 20/22 rooms were from our party. Other guests stayed in nearby condos and villas, and some stayed downtown. I think that the Cabo Surf is an ideal location if you want that villa kind of atmosphere but without the hassle of actually renting a villa. if you have any other questions or want to see any additional pics (other than the ones linked in my sig), please let me know. Cheers!
  15. Wow, stunning! Congratulations married lady!
