  1. hi and welcome we stayed at the Fairmont last summer and it was amazing. We also dined at one of the golf courses in Wailea and saw two weddings going on there. Also very beautiful. The Hyatt, Westin and Ritz are all on the Kanapali/Kapalua side which can be very windy, so keep that in mind. After staying on both sides, I definitely prefer Wailea.

  3. Welcome, Monica! I hope you find what you're looking for here
  4. a girl on my local knot board used a photo frame with a floating photo similar to this one: they used a epic for the photo, and poured the sand around it. C&B also has this decanter in their outlet that you may be able to use for the sand ceremony - it's only $15.95

    Welcome and congrats!
  6. I would be fine with not having one, but my Grandmother & Stepgrandmother have already started planning one for the family, and my friends are going to plan one as well. That said, they will both be ladies only. I feel a little uncomfortable about it given the expense that everyone coming is taking on, but I am just going to roll with it -- it's not exactly like I can say no! Most of the time shower invites indicate what kind of shower it is - such as lingerie, kitchen, hour of the day, etc. If it doesn't it is safe to assume that you should purchase gifts from the registry (registry info is usually included in the invite). If you are close friends lingerie makes a nice gift as well.
  7. Tammy I am working with a company in Alaska right now on the design. I will give you more info once I have have more info
  8. It's kind of a long story... there was SO much drama at this wedding but the jist of it was: The rented a terrace suite so that they could do their reception in their room. When they checked in the suite wasn't ready so they put them in an alternate room. They moved all of their stuff to the new (correct) room around 9pm the night before the wedding and somewhere in transit they lost the veil that I had made for her - it was never found, but she spent the morning in tears looking for it. We all spent the morning in a panic because of it. Subsequently we were a little late to getting to the bridal suite for the ceremony (should have been there 30 minutes early and we were there about 15 minutes prior.) The bride got her bouquet through her package with the hotel, and bought our flowers across the street through the Tropicana. When we got into the suite and she saw her flowers, I think she almost burst out crying right there. Her $115 bouquet was about the size of a large orange in circumfrence - our bouquets were larger than hers. So we sent someone to the room to grab a dozen roses out of one of the arrangements that were up there to add to her flowers. Meanwhile the coordinators were getting totally bitchy with us about holding up the process and let's just say that the insults were flying at them at this time. I know I called one of the coordinators a b-tch for something that she said when I asked for help. Ultimately her bouquet was fixed, but in the process one of the BMs cut off the MOH's finger tip. The coordinator came in to tell the girls to hurry it up with the flowers and I believe more profanities ensued. The ceremony was fine. Obviously this review is totally subjective. It was one of my best friend's weddings and I wanted the best treatment for her and I don't believe that she got it. She felt ripped off about the flowers, and was totally dissapointed about the veil that never turned up. So that's it. Oh, and she HATED the photos and they don't allow outside photography. Thankfully a good friend of ours is a very talented photographer and he shot a bunch of photos before & after.
  9. One of my best friends got married in this Chapel in August. The Chapel was fine, but the staff was super rude (I was in the wedding). Anyhow if you need any further info, please feel free to ask
  10. hey Tammy - that site is very helpful but if there are any other brides that are possibly dealing with the DST issue, this site does not have correct info(as per visitmexico.com) as the time change on this site is in accordance with the US time change and not Mexico's. Just a head's up...
  11. welcome! Let the fun begin!
  12. pretty! I like the chiffon for Cabo. Since I am only having my two sisters, we found dresses at Loehmann's. Lovelovelove Loehmann's. They were $50
  13. Which are you doing ? We're going with "Other" - I am having a cross similar to this one made (I am waiting on a quote right now from a sculptor and will be happy to provide pricing once I know). The two sides slip into eachother. I actually saw this on Jessica Claire's blog so I give credit to her. Anyhow, it seems like a nice way to have some religious symbolism, and additionally I like that it's a piece of art that we can display in our home after the wedding. And possibly can be passed to our children or they can use it in their wedding? Who knows....
  14. welcome. I live in OC but am getting married in Cabo. If I can assist you at all please let me know

  16. Karla - no that wasn't directed at you. Christa - I got the same answer as you did from my planner. I am going to email the Mexican Consulate or somethiing. this is frusterating !
  17. thanks for the link, Karla. Per that calendar, DST begins the second Sunday in March. I think that is when the US switches. I guess Mexico is going along with the US on that one?!?!
  18. I just wanted to offer some other sites with good info. I am not currently doing ww but who knows - if I keep eating as much crap as I have been I will need it soon! www.dwlz.com -- has points for many restaurants & foods www.calorieking.com -- nutritional content for many restaurants & foods
  19. Tammy - do you know of any discounts for those hotels?
  20. sorry ladies! did not mean to freak you out about how much Cabo can cost. I am sure it can be cheaper, but C and I both like to drink and eat a lot so it was definitely more expensive for us. Also, those costs were based upon spending a lot of time at the resort, but obviously if you want to venture out and about you can do it for much less. And the cost per day also included any other costs such as boat trips, etc. I would definitely recommend posting this question on tripadvisor. You may get totally different responses on there. I just figure it's best to err on the side of caution and budget too much rather than too little Actually, there are some reviews on this page http://www.tripadvisor.com/SearchFor...alifornia.html I see that one person estimated $150-$200 per day. I would say that's also reasonable. Again, it just depends on how much you plan to stay and eat at your resort and how much you plan to do there. We picked up beer and snacks at CCC on our first day and that definitely saved us some money.
