  1. we found my band today and ordered it. We ended up going with an eternity band, as it wasn't much more expensive than the band that we were looking at - which had diamonds 3/4 of the way around. Buying a wedding band is a seriously surreal experience. I am on the hunt for a photo of it, or something similar and will post it once I find one.
  2. my contract states 6-7 hours. I think that will be plenty of time, but we'll see. I think that 6 hours seems to be standard for most weddings in the US
  3. OOoo yeah, she has a knot bio with more pics. There are some fab DW brides on the knot. Here are a few http://talk.theknot.com/boards/User/...x?UserID=63886 http://talk.theknot.com/boards/User/...x?UserID=92403 http://talk.theknot.com/BOARDS/User/...x?UserID=41756 http://talk.theknot.com/boards/User/...?UserID=109389 http://talk.theknot.com/boards/User/...me=mrslemonpie not a dw, but gorgeous anyway http://talk.theknot.com/boards/User/...x?UserID=15298 http://talk.theknot.com/boards/User/...x?UserID=22071 http://talk.theknot.com/boards/User/...oname=MrsMarin and MrsMarin's planning bio - because it's worthy too. Her dress is a white BM dress with a lot of alterations http://talk.theknot.com/boards/User/...ioname=Marin03 those should keep you busy for a while!
  4. I think that the magnets are pretty popular around here. And as a guest I would love to receive one. I mean, who doesn't need a magnet?!?!
  5. I am hoping that votives with tealights will be okay for the tables. Also, Christa I was told that we should definitely do tiki torches on the beach. If you're interested in sharing the cost of those, let me know.
  6. As Tammy said, I'm using Rosy - she's great so far. Let me know if you have any questions.
  7. welcome! there are loads of dreams brides here. You're in good hands.
  8. oh, girl you have LOADS of time. I'm getting married in March and I still need to book more than half of my stuff.
  9. very creative, Christa. does the CS have any restrictions on candles or anything? i didn't even check!
  10. just be sure to check with your cc company to see if they charge you a foreign transaction fee. Mine just implemented one, and I found out the hard way when I looked at my account after coming home from Asia. Some cards don't so I would check ahead of time.
  11. welcome! there are loads of beautiful resorts in the Carribean - Jamaica is a popular place. I've seen some gorgeous weddings at the Rockhouse Resort there. Lots of us on here are Cabo brides, but don't let that intimidate you. There are so many great options for DWs.... Hawaii, while quite a flight from the East Coast, is also a great option for DWs and you don't have to jump through all of the legal hoops to be married there. good luck!
  12. I went ahead and invited most of the guests. We nixed some of the fringe friends from my Dad's side = he told them that the wedding is very small in Mexico. We ended up inviting somewhere around 150-175 and expect about 75-90 guests.
  13. Kash, Christa posted this earlier, but I guess that they don't accept vouchers for large parties. Also, I checked a couple of months ago and vouchers weren't available for Baja Cantina
  14. let me know how it goes with them - I am still waiting on my florist

    Hello!

congrats - the Esperanza is gorgeous!
  16. yeah, there is another site - I think it's bridecouture.com that sells sample gowns for cheaper. And of course J Crew, H&M, Nordstrom, Saks & NM all carry bridal too. Just think outside of the box a little!
  17. Oh, and www.weddingbee.com always has good sample sale info.

It really worked to my disadvantage because I am really picky about fabric and design, but simultaneously it would kill me to pay retail for a gown because I know how much they cost. They shipped it to me, I tried it on and it fit perfectly. I knew I wouldn't find "the one" but I am very happy with the one that I ended up with. ETA: I figured there wasn't much to lose even if the gown didn't fit or I hated it - it was only $230 and I'm sure I could re-sell it for that price.

I almost picked up a $10k Vera Wang for around $2k. if I see anything about it I'll let everyone know.
  21. the actual retail of my gown is around $3k but I bought it used on ebay for $230.
  22. Leigh Miller (www.leighmillerphotography) just shot a wedding at Pedegral. I almost booked her for my wedding. She is very talented, and her pricing is very reasonable if you're looking to hire someone to shoot from the US. http://leighmillerphotography.blogspot.com/ Scroll down to Sanny & Oli, Pedregal, Cabo San Lucas
